I am keeping these as a log, since I do not want to do a true training log (I obess too much and this is not for competition, this is just for me).
So far this week I’ve done 10.64 miles, not bad considering my travels and not being able to work out as much while I was away. Currently I’m actually surprised at how fast my heart rates are adjusting, I still have the tendency to spike high at first and then as I go settle down into my workout rate. By the rate that things are going 2 weeks ago I was spiking around 188 (not too bad for an old lady) and then settling in around 165-170. Now I’m at 178 and settling into 160-166. During cool down it is only taking me 30 seconds to drop 10 beats, even while still moving. Once I stop- it is faster.
Huzzah to muscle memory, and further proof of why I am a freak. Right now I’m in week 5 of my specific training at the start of the new year I will add 2 days of weight training. One of Olympic/dead lifting (power lifting to most people) and then one of endurance lifting where I will be looking at 30-70 reps per min with 30 seconds off. On those days I will still do 20 min of aerobic for warm up/cool down 5min walking with 10 min of running (yes I can count, but I don’t include walking in my total work). And my straight running days will increase from 35 to 40 min with increases occurring every two weeks. Currently I’m keeping my pace between 12:30 miles and 10:00 miles.
So far my 500 m ergometer test has been:
1:48.2 in Nov
1:48.0 first week of Dec
I pull my next 500 m this Monday although with my client load I may have to do it on Sunday. To give an idea my previous PR with 500 m was 1:33… My testing mile used to be 6:24 so I’m way- as in LONG LONG way from where I used to be. And like most women I am not loosing any weight- I am loosing inches but I’m gaining weight, and will continue to do so for probably another one to two months. After that I’ll have a metabolism spike and drop 15lbs in what seems like a week. However the truth is everything I do now is leading up to that- can you tell I’ve gone through this before? What pisses me off, and frustrates me most- my bras no longer fit- because my girls are bigger. GAH to genetics. Seriously they suck, having been an athlete and a damn good one all my life I have always been bitter for being given a “non” athletic looking body. Trust me when I say it’s frustrating from the comments I’ve gotten from other trainers who have a different body type and from coaches who all want the same build for their athletes. No I can’t change it- but I’m sure as hell going to make the most of it. Ok rant over regarding body typing.. but look for another one in the near future. Heh :)
