Bizarre Ball, London, and Other Stuff

23:48 Oct 16 2008
Times Read: 652

Well seeing as it's been a week since I went to London, I suppose I should write about it. It would have been way better if I hadn't been feeling ill the whole time, and Paddy and I spent most of the time being completely knackered and suffering from lack of sleep.

Anyway, I shall start by telling you all about the Bizarre Ball! You'd all be sick if you knew how incredibly brilliant it was. Ten kinds of awesome. There was something like 2000 people there, and all of them made an effort to dress up. The crowd itself was a feast for the eyes, there were so many amazing costumes and creative ideas. There was also alot of fetish and nudity, but alongside that was pure class. Some of the acts were a bit much I thought, like one that involved a ninja getting bashed up by two geishas then fucked in the ass, but apparently I missed the worst of it which took place in a separate room. Some shows involved real blood and stuff that truly made you cringe, but was also very entertaining. There was alot of really nice classy burlesque, including very old fashioned burlesque which wasn't all naked and that. There were also bands (Zombina and The Skeletones aswell as The Priscillas) and live wrestling, but I wasn't really into that. There were some really cool random shows, I wish I could have taken a squillion photos, but my camera seemed incapable of taking anything that wasn't horribly blurry. Infact nearly every picture we took came out terrible which was such a pity. All in all, the Bizarre Ball was easily the coolest thing I've ever been to.

After the Ball, Paddy and I were trying to get a bus to Trafalgar Square in the middle of the night so that we could head back up to Camden, when a guy stopped and asked us if we could help him find a bus to the same place we were going, because he had bad eyesight. So we helped the guy out and talked to him for ages at the stop and on the bus, and he turned out to be a photographer and writer for Bizarre Magazine, how cool is that? It was such an amazing night, just wish I hadn't been feeling so rotten!

To the Ball I wore a black Lolita dress with red and white stockings and the cutest shoes ever, but I really felt under dressed, everyone looked amazing!

Also, on our first night in London we caught up with Erin and Lauren for a drink at a pub called Edinboro Castle, lol. That night my Dad actually called me for the first time in two months, I nearly died of shock. We also got chinese with them on our last night there, and it was really nice to catch up and take a few dorky photos haha. I wanted to do alot of sightseeing because Paddy had never seen central London, but I don't think we really ended up doing much. I tried to get in some of the really famous stuff. I took him to Buckingham Palace, and then along to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, up Whitehall (which goes past Downing Street, the Horse Guards and lots of other stuff) and into Trafalgar Square. We were walking past St James park when we discovered a whole lot of squirrels, which were so so so adorable! There were three old men with a bag of peanuts who were feeding them and the squirrels were climbing all over them. One of the men gave me a peanut and a squirrel ate it out of my hand, it was so cute!

I did surprisingly little shopping in Camden, which disappointed me because I was relying on that trip to get a winter wardrobe so that I might not freeze to death at work. I came away with the really pretty black Lolita dress, super cute shoes, a lacey coat, earmuffs, lace gloves, a top hat, headphones and some dvds.

Bugger all, how sad!

Since I've been back I've successfully achieved one full day at work, aaalriiight. I have yet another hideous cold, but this time it's the kind with the coughing and spitting and constant blowing of the nose. I hates it very much. I have no energy to do anything and no amount of lemsip seems to help. I thought it would be nice today to come home from a freezing cold four hour shift (woo) and have a hot bath or shower then a cup of tea, but instead I came home to discover that our water's been turned off (double woo) so I must go without. It's also great how our boiler's broken, so we have no heating in the flat and it's like a giant icebox. On the bright side of things, I've had time to achieve a small amount of writing which is nice. At the rate I've been going lately I'll be old and insane before my books are done.

Alright well I think that's about everything, so for now, cheerio!

Oh, here's the only picture of me at the Ball that didn't come out blurry. Me with the Spirit of The Jazz from the Mighty Boosh, how wicked is that? More photos to follow hopefully.

On the Road Again

From Oct 7th:

Hmm well a few things have occurred and have yet to occur. Firstly I've been asked if I'd like to model fake hair, dreadfalls and the like, and if I do I get to keep the hair. Of course I said yes!

Also my friend Loren who's now down in London used one of my poems to recite at her acting school, yay! Speaking of London, that's where I'm going tomorrow. Again! It'll be my third trip this year, but this time atleast I have an event to attend. The Bizarre Ball is on friday, still don't know what I'll wear but I'd better make up my mind soon. I plan to spend two days relieving myself of lots of cash in Camden Town first. Paddy is coming with me so hopefully the nine hour night bus won't be as awful as it usually is, 'cause I won't have to avoid the stranger sitting next to me. He hasn't seen central London before, so I suppose I'll take him around to see all the famous things and stuff. Fuck I miss driving, I really wish I had and could afford a vehicle over here. Erm not alot else to report really. I've thankfully got over my flu which is nice. I'm expecting Paddy to arrive at my flat at 5am tomorrow morning again... told him he could come to my place to sleep after work, but last night it didn't go so well because I fell asleep, somehow my phone froze up and he ended up stuck outside in the rain for ages, until I woke up, felt super bad, then paid for him to get a taxi back here since he'd walked all the way back to his friend's flat, oops. So yeah that was shambles but hopefully tonight will go smoother. It's do things like this or otherwise I'll never see him, and even so it's still like, "morning, bye!".

Hmm oh, and I got out my big pink case that I took traveling with me, and opened it to discover a vast collection of pamphlets, booklets, maps, and tickets from my travels. I should probably scrapbook things like that. My next exciting location will hopefully be Paris, but quite possibly I'll find myself back in Ireland first. Well I ought to go to bed now, to wake in five hours and not let Paddy stand in the rain. Bye!

Fuck You Scumbags!

11:12 Oct 16 2008

Some stupid motherfucker is playing techno dance music so fucking loud that it sounds like there is a nightclub next door. My floor is vibrating, my ears are vibrating, it's nearly 1am, I'm going fucking mental, and all I want to do is seek out and kill whoever's idea it was to play this shit at such a huge volume. As far as I know there are no nightclubs that nearby, but for how insanely loud and clear it is, I might aswell be standing at the door of one. How the fuck am I meant to sleep through that, plus the traffic, plus the rowdy drunks outside? FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!!! DIE BASTARDS DIE!

I really, really want someone to buy me a sniper rifle for Christmas.

In other news while I try to distract myself from the ear-splitting dance beat, I've had a hideous head flu for several days, the thing you get just before you get pneumonia. I've had a killer sore throat and swollen glands, sore neck, headache, sore back, swollen eye, and such powerful dizziness that one day I couldn't walk across the room without almost toppling over. It's caused me to lose three days off work which equalled shit pay, and I needed a good one to go to London with, so bugger. I blame the huge amplification of this flu on standing outside in the freezing cold wind and rain for several hours everyday.

Also, Paddy got himself a job at last which is great, and is having his first night tonight. He's working in another pub and thus working nights so I'll probably hardly get to see him now.

Well I have a pie in the oven which requires eating now, bye.

Some of you might be fans so you may be vaguely interested, but yesterday I met the bass player from the Sisters of Mercy. I like the fact that I've met so many famous people this year!
