This story will just warm your heart. There is a patient at the hospital that i worked for and his sister is very sick and she is dying. The procurement people came to talk to her family and told them that she is going to die anytime soon and they should donate her organ to anyone who needs it. So they were looking for people who are in need of organ and her brother showed up to the hospital and one of those people were talking to him they told him that they are going to look for people who needs her organ. The brother who is having a kidney problem that is on dialyisis told them that if the family is going to do that then he asked why can't he have her kidney since he needed one knowing he is on dialysis. The family never even thought of him that he needed a kidney, i guess they must have forgotten that he is on dialysis. The problem was, the brother was never referred to a kidney transplant center and he was never listed anywhere that he was just going to be dialyzed forever because he didn't think that he is going to get a kidney soon. In order for him to get that kidney he needs to be on the UNOS list. and it is impossible to transplant him becuase they needed to get the kidney out on that same day because the sister is going to die that day and they need to get all the organs out before they go bad. The transplant center did everything they can to get all the paper work necessary to get him on the list that day they did all the necessary test needed to get him transplanted so many things involved before they can even put him on the list. After all the test was done and they got the crossmatch back, the nurse put him on the list that night call all the necessary people to get him listed got all the insurance company involved to approved him to get transplanted. That next morning he got his sisters kidney and he is doing well. He lost his sister but she saved his life. The moral of the story is if we all worked together we can get things done..This is a true story by the way that just happened today. he got his tranplant really early this morning.. Isn't this story great?.. i wish people would get together and help each other out instead of fighting for some stupid things that is not necessary... be nice to each other you never know when you are going to need an organ soon and that person could be the one saving your life....The End.
