Here's my personal view of what goth is...
- Free thinking
- Being individual instead of following the crowd like a sheep just to 'fit in'
- Being drawn to the occult, and things of a dark nature
- Being attracted to things which most would find abhorrent
- Going against the flow
- Not being brainwashed by organised religion
- Different
- Unique
- Beautiful
- Having a soul that craves that which is strange, unusual, dark, morbid, extreme, frightening, dangerous or extraordinary by nature, and has an esoteric rather than a universal appeal- things that many would consider 'weird', 'freaky' or 'abnormal'
- Gothic people also often feel an affinity with particular periods of history, and their fashion styles. And occasionally, frustration with the modern world. I know I do.
- Goths are also usually have emotional depth and a high level of intellect
- A lot of people stereotype goths as scary, anti-social loners who are obsessed with death and go around looking miserable, listen to metal and wear all-black clothes and big, clumpy boots. But goth is about so much more than that. I personally wear a lot of black, because I've always loved the colour black. But I wear colour too and listen to all different types of music. I'm also a generally happy, nice person who won't kill you in your sleep.. not unless you're REALLY asking for it!!! }:-} Muhahahahaha Only joking.
But I still consider myself gothic, or at least having a strong gothic side, for the reasons I have stated above. From a young age, I've felt 'different' and subservise in my desires, and been drawn to dark things, the occult and supernatural beings, and attracted to things that I feel I shouldn't be!
...In short, goth is awesome! :)
