She walked amongst the rows of graves, looking for a name, the name that once held her destiny. She found the monument in a quiet corner of the cemetary and knelt before it. With trembling hands she traced the engravings, the dates almost unimaginable. The tears came then, with the closure, with the final realization that he was gone. On her knees now, she clawed at the fresh earth and screamed at the sky, demanding answers that she knew would never come. She begged forgiveness of her sins against him to the cold granite; the silence of which a fitting tribute of her trespass.
The winter shadows became long, and she knew darkness would be upon her soon. As she turned away from his stone, she whispered a final goodbye, not only to him but to the part of her heart and soul that loved him.
She would never be the same again.
"So, what DO you want?" I screamed back at him, wanting him so much to be like the others, and tell me he wanted out, that I was completely crazy and he wanted nothing to do with me.
Instead.
He put his arms around me, in spite of my struggling, and kissed my cheek.
"I want YOU" he said, "I want to be the one that makes you smile, that makes you laugh, to be the one that gives you a joyful heart. I want to kiss you in the morning and hold you at night. You have no idea what I want."
He let me go then, turning away. I didnt have to see him but I knew he had tears in his eyes. I reached out for him, knowing that despite himself I touched a dark spot, something that had made him hurt. And I was sorry that I had ever attempted to hurt him. I hugged him tight to me.
"Then dont leave me. Ever. Even if I push you away, dont go. Prove to me that you are different."
He held me tight then, his lips brushing my cheek lightly.
"I wont leave you, not now, not ever. I think its my job to show you just what you are worth, not only to me but to yourself."
