Crab Stuff

I put a dish of fruit bits in the crab tank last night and all the crabs came out to see what I was doing. The big guy automatically owned the dish I put the bits in, he straddled it and moved the bits around till he found the one he wanted, a nice big juicy piece of apple.

Along comes a little crab. He pauses and looks mournfully over at the big crab eating the chunk of apple. Little guy wants a bite of the apple too! Little crab reaches into the dish to find something for himself, but he really wants the apple chunk.

Big crab notices this, and then he did something I never expected. He put down his chunk of apple, tore off a bit with his big claw, and pushed it toward the little crab. Little crab found it at once, and happily settled down with his snack. Two happy crabs! Who would have thought they could understand things like this, and share what they have with each other? That little crab was so happy he got a bit of apple he practically wiggled all over the dish. And he ate every bit of it too.

They are such fun little guys.
