Happy Beltane to all and to those who celebrate it tomorrow.
I have started the day with a medieval dish of Marigold fritters with whiskey. The original recipe is for Elderflower and brandy however I did not have those ingredients. The rest of the ingredients are the same except for the honey which has been replaced with milk. I topped them with squirty cream instead of whipped.
This year I managed to get hold of Frankincense and Myrrh as well as Sandalwood incense for the Sabbat ritual which was an interesting aroma.
For dinner later on this afternoon I have made a Anglo-Saxon dish of Pork Barley Stew. The original recipe calls for rabbit or chicken, however I thought I had turkey and defrosted it only to find it was diced pork, so pork it is.
I will be making Marigold custard as well for teatime.
It is lovely and sunny today and blue skies are big :)
