There was once a girl,
Standing alone in her window,
The light behind her,
Turned her hair into a halo,
She stared upward,
At the night sky,
A look of longing on her face,
I thought her sad,
I wished to stay,
And comfort her,
Empty, I left,
I saw a girl once,
In her coffin,
I remembered her,
From a window,
A week before,
Her sad face peaceful,
A peace she felt this once,
I wished I met her,
Before she met cement,
I wished I stopped,
And gave her something,
Something pleasant to rest her mind on,
Now she rests her head,
On a pillow in the ground,
And I remember,
There once was a girl,
Standing alone in her window.
