The Dragon’s will is an essential companion to the Self. Without
will, no deed is accomplished, no end is achieved, no desire is fulfilled, and no idea sees realization. Will is the motive force necessary
to change states from being to doing. When will is absent, We have
only the dormant, inactive state of being—not the actualized, active,
progressive state of achieving. Enter will, and the observer becomes
the performer. Will enables us to bridge the gap between the intangible and the Corporeal, to bring thoughts into action and plans to
fulfillment.
We hear this word will spoken often: the will to survive, great
strength of will, lack of willpower. But what does it mean?
Will is not to be confused with desire. Desire can be an immobile
thing. If left to its own devices, a desire will never fulfill itself. It is but
an idea, a thought. A car without gasoline will not run on its own, and
without a given direction it cannot reach any destination.

Contrary to many people’s assumptions, the will is not a set force,
something one is born with that can never be changed. It would be a
