Standing naked, closely side by side they gaze through the master chamber's lofty window, scanning the rolling acres so densely forested below. Still wet with sweat, their bodies slightly glisten in the flickering candlelight after such an intimate account of midnight delight. While gradually catching their breath, a mysterious movement in the distance catches Polona's wandering eye. "What's that?" She asks Apollo, raising her hand to point. Being the more curious of the two, she's naturally eager to know. "I'm not sure what it is?" He quietly responds, squinting, trying to focus deep into the evening fog reflecting the full moon's glow. But a narrow, dim beam of light dances across the ground. Waving, it darts aimlessly about. Slowly it grows ever closer. Something, or someone is definitely approaching.

"Could it be?" He spoke aloud, now wondering curiously himself, "Ah yes," saying with a smile, that of a delish sinister upon his face, "it's a flashlight. Indeed, it's them. It's those meddling ghost hunters again, my dear." Apollo then whispers sarcastically in a supernatural tone, deaf to human ears, "Perhaps they remembered to bring a digital recorder this time to capture our EVP's?" Chuckling, he takes a second glance at the oncoming group. "They don't look familiar. No," casually shaking his head, "it appears we haven't had the pleasure of meeting these trespassers yet."

Followed by the distinct sound of those rusted entrance door hinges creaking, that dusty antique grandfather clock sitting in the cobweb infested foyer strikes its eerie midnight charm - like it has done faithfully for the last umpteen years without ever once needing to be wound. "Ah, they've finally arrived," Apollo says, "and without even knocking saw themselves in." He looks at Polona with an enthusiastic grin, pausing only long enough to take a brief breath, "Let's give our guests a rather special show tonight - a little something to remember us by... and keep them coming back for more." Winking, he slyly suggests, "Such a fright, one they'll not soon forget!" Polona squeals, thrilled having company to entertain. Unable to conceal her childlike excitement, she hugs Apollo and jokingly replies, "Oh, my darling, you've always been such a stage hog!" In a hurried rush they dash to the closet bouncing off of one another, rooting through their unlimited wardrobe, feverishly finding something appropriate to throw on for the occasion.

Even though the sprawling mansion is now dilapidated and seemingly abandoned, they don't see it as such. Not at all. To them it's well adorned with vast belongings of theirs from many yesterday's long past. You see, Polona and Apollo might be dead but what they've become in the afterlife isn't just a figment of someone's wild imagination. Nor is their lasting existence merely conversational fragments from a faded history. Nope. Far from it. Though having been dead for a very long time, nothing could be further from the truth if one was to say their presence no longer remains. Because within those majestic halls nestled high upon a hill in that place of theirs called home, they exist still until this day... and always will.

The Adalhard mansion is steeped in such deep mysterious lore, causing it to be heavily explored. Equally popular, beyond a trail through the forest sits the old cemetery in a clearing on the Adalhard land. As rumor has it, the couple can be seen there on a nightly basis, both dressed in white, strolling in the moonlight hand in hand near a tall, ornately decorated marble tomb where their earthly remains are confined. Somewhat weathered by Mother Nature over the many years, its markings are still astonishingly clear and on the front it reads:

The Adalhard's

Here within lies Apollo and Polona

Resting eternally by each other's side -

Inseparable now

Exactly as they were when alive -

May their lasting love forever endure

Passing under the massive chandelier hanging high from the foyer ceiling riddled with cracks, the four paranormal thrill seekers (two young men accompanied by their reluctant girlfriends) decide to venture farther inward, into the luring depths of the mansion and cautiously traverse the winding staircase leading to the second story halls. Equally spaced oil lamps still add some décor to the dark mahogany walls. It's hard not to notice how the interior yet reflects an inkling of grandeur it once brimmed with so long ago. Wide-eyed, nearly tiptoeing, the hardwood floor squeaks beneath their feet. An identical expression worn by each member of the group - that priceless look of impending dread is plastered on their faces; wanting something to happen but at the same time fearing what might. It's almost comical how they appear ready to bolt at the first unexplainable sound or sight.

The small group eventually gathers in what used to be the library. Now vacant, it's where quite an endless collection of literary art was displayed and proudly kept. Finally, one of them (the more courageous fellow between the two) reaches into his pocket, removes a handheld recorder and loudly asks, "Is there a spirit present?" The daring question echoes throughout the empty room, followed by a lengthy silence. Only a gentle breeze can be heard faintly whispering through the eaves, combined with the sound of a dead oak tree's branches scratching, tapping tirelessly like twisted fingers on a window somewhere nearby....

More more she pleads irreverently

He whispers to her shall we let the games begin. In all eagerness she agrees and asks what her task shall be. He ponders for a moment and chuckles. I say we trick them into fear. We guide them on a journey and let them scare themselves. Let's start by shaking the curtains amd guide them into the dining room. She giggles and runs to the window. He follows her quickly. She grabs a heavy drape and spins it around her like a ballerina. Then skips away the curtain trailing behind her till it swings back into the window. The four pranksters see the curtains and rush toward them. She skirts away just as they reach her

She runs quickly to the second window and throws the drapes open wide and the moonlight floods the room. He watches her whimsy amd smiles. The foursome look at one another and feverishly dash towards her. He laughs at her glee. Your turn she taunts and dares he take a turn.

Apollo ...lay down in front of them! Polina giggles as she watches him throw himself on the floor in front of the thrillseekers. She glides to the next set of drapes glancing over her shoulder jist in time to see the first fall over Apollo. He jumps up and rums after her. They lead them to the kitchen. It is dusty and cobwebs cover everything. The foursome turn the corner just as Apollo and Polona knock all the dusty pots off the rack over the old stove. They come crashing down in a plume of dust knocking the first to enter on the head as the second two tumble over the flying cookware. Polona laughs out loud and rushes next to Apollo. Oh darling she whispers...they are such a pathetic group. Let's leave them to their silliness.

Hand in hand they drift through the creaky mansion. Both smiling they stop at the top of the stairs and gaze down over the splendor that once was. Polona leans her head on Apollo shoulder and quietly tells him how perfect he had made her life.
