They say that because of the very dry year we have had they haven't taken root properly which is why there are so many small ones and you are therefore paying 'big' time for the big ones!!
I remember a couple of years ago how my daughter and I emptied a beautifully large pumpkin and then began to strategically cut the eyes out. The symmetrical way in which the mouth was carved was pure art.
On putting the final touches together I decided to shape the chin slightly with a delicate hand …. That’s when the jaw fell off. You have to know when enough is enough.
We looked at each other stunned. The next pumpkin was finished in five minuets not looking anywhere near as good as the first one did, but at least it was whole.
With Halloween around the corner the seasonal ads are here too.
It seems tonight is a night for typos and just plain ole bad English. I’m just glad the ‘Language Police’ aren’t pulling me up on this as I’m in the mood to deal with that type of Gestapo tactics.
When I’ve read what I’ve written in members journals(and in my own) and hit enter then gone through it for errors(I know I know) I’m just glad they haven’t pulled me up on it! So polite and sweet, thank you.

I do it all the time, and I hate it. I know I'm a lot smarter than my typing reflects, here. And although I have not come across your errors- if I did, I am sure I would assume it was a quick mistake. I know you're an intelligent guy.
Thanks imagesinwords. As that comment comes from someone I respect immensely, it means a lot.
Not me! I was laughing and pointing! ;P
Oh Joli, thanks for the support :-p

I adore carving pumpkins. I am trying to decide what I will carve this year. :D

I remember craving turnips when I was a little girl as we could not afford to buy pumkins and loving every moment of it. I can remember the way the turnip smelled when the candle burnt it. We made a little lid on the top and holes on the side to put the string through so we could carry it when we went treat n' treating :)
