Many years ago when I bought Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds I just loved it, it was something that I really got into.
I always thought that Richard Burton had the perfect command of English especially the way he used it in this production.
Through the years I’ve see generation after generation listen to this great tribute to H.G. Wells, and now the show is on tour.
Among other venues it will be at the O2 stadium this summer.
They are casting a hologram of Richard Burton that apparently is a must see.
I know this is going to be money well spent.
I had a friend … I have a friend, who’s life seems to be turned upside down again.
She must feel like she’s on the emotional roller-coaster that we call life. Between family deaths and unfortunate career disappointments, she has been kicked while she is down.
She seems to be flying without direction, without purpose. She does at least have someone she can turn to, and that’s not me, her choice. But I hope he’s able to guide her forward in a direction that is not selfish.
I know what she’s made of and I have complete confidence that she will pick herself up and do well again. How do I know this? Because I have seen her do miracles, I was once on the receiving end of that ‘magic’, she makes things happen. She’s exciting and vibrant and certainly doesn’t deserve this run of bad luck.
I was once part of her best days, I want her to know I won’t desert her during these dark times, even thou her eyes aren’t turned eastward anymore.
Even on this flight, I fly with her, always silently flying.
So many of you keep changing your names for whatever reasons, and I don’t have a problem with that but don’t expect me to know who you are or even remember who you are once you’ve reminded me. I’m of that age..lol
If you’ve done this because you’ve dug a hole of drama for yourself then I’m not interested, if it’s to get your name on the top ten lists, then again, I’m not interested.
So if you do feel I’ve insulted you then stop changing your damn names!
What a pleasant surprise I had this morning. I received the T-shirt I ordered from the VR store a couple of weeks back for my babes birthday. I say surprised as to be honest I’d completely forgotten about it. The timing was lousy thou as I took my daughter home yesterday and won’t see her for two weeks as she’s off to Poland for a week (I swear kids get more and more holidays each year).
On opening the package and stretching out the T-shirt I felt myself saying that maybe I should have gone with the medium!! Oh well, I’m sure more T-shirts will be ordered with time. The quality was indeed outstanding.
I love the hand out cards too .... lol
Flying the flag…
Yet another Bank Holiday weekend approaches and this one brings the Southend Air Show to town. It’s on for two days, Sunday and Monday and last year it was good fun even thou we were soaked on the Monday!
The two day Festival of the Air is undoubtedly the most spectacular event in Southend's calendar. Southend was the first seaside resort in the country to stage an Airshow and it's become one of Europe's largest FREE events of its kind, regularly attracting over half a million people to the seafront over the weekend.
Whilst the skies over the Thames Estuary are filled with roaring and buzzing of fast jets as they zoom and flit at lightning speed, or formation aerobatic teams mesmerise the crowd with their manoeuvres, there's a non-stop action packed entertainment programme that stretches for two miles on the ground.
I love nostalgia and to see the old WW2 planes do their run is heart warming. It brings out all the veterans and to see them smile as the Lancaster bomber escorted by the Spitfire and Hurricane fighter planes do there pass is wonderful.
We couldn’t get near the flight simulator last year and I wasn’t going to cue up in the rain, but this year they will have two so more people will have a chance to have fun.
I took a few pics from last year ...
The Lancaster and escourt..
Red,white and ... errrrrr
Some friends staying dry..!
The weather really was bleak..
That's just showing off ... lol

I saw it last year - it is excellent, with Justin Hayward singing and Jeff himself conducting. Curiously the biggest applause was for the hologram lol

I love all the tracks and have had this double album for 29 years. Would love to see the show but unless I get a dam job I'll not be seeing it.
