Children playing in the pool,

picnic hampers on the lawn.

Shrieks and splashes, smiles and fun,

happy confusion in the sun.

My naked back absorbs the heat,

disguising all my lonely thoughts.

So begins a bead of sweat,

on a journey from my neck.

Follow it's path all the way down,

exploding when touching the ground.

The ipod player drowns my tears,

never showing my kid my fears.

She grabs a sandwich and I watch her eat,

soaking wet from head to feet.

She will only ever see my best,

my smiles my warmth, nothing less.
