I’m very close to one of my younger cousins. I have watched her grow and succeed at most things she puts her hand to, a very clever girl. However, I have stood in amazement at her choice of boyfriends over the years and being the good friend/cousin that I am have learnt to keep my mouth shut. That said her latest isn’t too bad.
I have the pair of them coming over for lunch today, she’s a vegetarian. Normally we do our lunches or dinners together and normally going out. But I decided that I would cook. I wanted a meal that we could all eat, at least for appearances sake.
Where to start?!! Cooking for him and myself was not a problem as we both eat meat, so for her I thought I would try this new minced quorn . Mistake one.
I decided to make meatballs in a tomato pasta sauce, done this before and it came out great, with meat. Mistake two. He’s the thing, and lucky I started with the quorn, well this damn substance doesn’t really bind, in fact it would not bind at all. I added one then two eggs but still no luck. Mistake three. I was about to resort to a shepherds pie or even a simple spaghetti sauce until I remembered the eggs that I had added. No more mistakes. Not wanting to take a chance I settled for a lasagne. Not only did it disguise the eggs but it improved the flavour.
The day was a success but next time we eat out!
Not on my list but netheless 'nailed' anyway was Uncle Buck. Loved it, I'd let him look after my daughter any day!
I'm still without MSN so I guess I'll be watching more TV than normal. I'm just getting into Warehouse 13, it has promise but we shall see.
A couple of the boys shot over to help me out on Sunday. We went looking for a half decent car that would help me out till I could afford something decent again. I was armed with money that I didn’t really have to spend in the first place but such are emergencies that my resources had to be hacked and distributed to get around this one.
I didn’t really see anything that tickled my fancy and the ones that did I just couldn’t afford. I did see a lovely 2 seater MK5 but I had to remind myself to stay practical with my choice, besides it was a bright canary yellow!
I have been following another car on eBay (Hebrew -oui vay) and generally sweeping the local rags. Fingers crossed.
To cheer me up we went onto the sea front, it was packed as the sun invited people to come out and play. We sat outside after lunch to enjoy the famous Rossi ice-creams and have a smoke. The sun was still there in its glory but it disguised the icy wind that made it bloody cold. I was happy to be home last night and even happier to have my lift arranged for work this week.
CarnelianMyst's last journal entry had her waiting for a policeman for an hour......
I just had a copper here taking statements about my car. I wouldn't mind but it's been three days since my car was stolen and this was the earliest time slot they had to send someone out.
It's a beautiful day, wish I had my car!
Anyone for skinny dipping on the beach?
Last night my car was stolen. I still can't believe it. I have reported it to the police and my insurance company and they both fired questions at me. They made me feel like I was the criminal.
They would have had to hot wire the car to have stolen it which in my opinion was not worth the trouble, obviously they felt different.
Even if it is returned I guess I will get rid of it now as that type of violation does not bode well for security.
I AM SO PISSED OFF!!

I am sorry your car was stolen and the way you were treated afterward. I will keep you in my thoughts. What a bunch of S.O.B.s
Back in '97 I went to the French Quarter with a bunch of friends, I brought with me a new expensive camera. They told me not to bring it because someone would swipe it from me even if I was carrying it. Even though I knew better (that's never happened to me there) I left it under the seat in the car. Well guess what? The freakin' car was stolen.
With thievery comes ego and over-the-top self-importance... these people want what they want and don't care what they'll put others through to make sure it happens.
Aww that's crap honey :(
but i didn't steal it i will return it in the morning ok ;)
~hugs~
I am sure you are, really really mega pissed off! Take solace in the fact that in Northern Ireland they steal cars to use as car bombs, and where you live it is relatively unaffected by that. Sorry about your car.. hope your insurance company is prompt!
I,m sorry Dear, guess they though you walked out and give then the keys ,Cops have a strange way of showing no tact when it comes to the victims
Man, that bites. I've been there many times over.
And you're right - the police and insurance make you feel either like you're the criminal or just simply insignifcant.
"What? Your car was broken into? What was stolen? Yeah, sign this report? No, we're not going to send anyone unless someone got killed. Your car got stolen? What color was it - we'll keep an eye out..."
FEH. Useless. The insurance company has to pay you the money you've been giving them and they don't want to, so now they hate you. The police get money from writing tickets, not for writing a stolen property report, so they don't care.
Been there...
Am I making you feel better yet?
Sorry sugar that does suck :( The cops could have been more tactful that's for sure. Around here the big thing is for people to have their own cars stolen usually right before a repo and then burned where they will then claim the insurance payoff. It's a very old trick but still quite popular.
Wow, that's a downer. I hope things get settled quickly for you.
I'm pissed off for you! I hope they have a big ol'
spoon for all the nasty karma they'll end up munching!
What a bummer *hugs*
I was sitting watching Oklahoma (yea I know another Easter classic) anyway, I was happily singing along to the songs when my daughter comes in with a couple of her friends who have been staying (it’s called a sleep-over … they have a name for everything these days) and looks at me in a kind of stunned fashion and asks, ‘’how do you know the words off pat,’’
I proudly say ''just love the old musicals''
then looking at her friend then back at me they both said in unison ‘’SAD.’’ Then they walked off!!
Now for South Pacific!

Sing it loud and proud dad ;]
"Oklahoma, where the the wind goes sweeping through the plains..." lol, I havent seen that movie in forever but I could probably still sing along...that and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Ha!
Ohhh the young are such harsh judges lmao
Clash of the Titans didn't disappoint. The special effects and in 3D were very well put together. The nachos were crap but the popcorn rocked.
My kid had a million questions but managed to save them till after the film finished. She loves Greek mythology as much as I do and the answers to her questions led to more questions.
When we got home we dug out books, which is always a pleasure for me in this age of computers and we referenced and cross referenced. It was good for me too as I reminded myself of events and people who were also around in that era.
Then we watched Erogon and the books about dragons came out ...

So want to see this movie
but will have to add it to the long list of to see movies!
glad you enjoyed it honey :)
Ooh i want to see that too, sounds like you had lovely time :)
I went and saw this on Saturday.. It was pretty good :D
So with most of the kids schools affiliated to a church in some way I decided to take the opportunity to book a ticket for just ‘me and my gal’, VIP no less to see Clash of the Titans in 3D whilst everyone else is at church. Gotta love being Jewish sometimes!!
At least she will remember this Easter :-P
A very long weekend of pure unadulterated laziness. Four full days.
We are still in the middle of Pesach (The Passover) and now with Easter falling just right I can catch up on so many things … or not!
But at least I have a choice.
I have a couple of friends staying over tonight so that will be fun (no cooking, yay).
Then there is 'Clash of the Titans' (comes out today) and it's in 3D, I promised my daughter we would have to go and see it, she didn't get much say in the matter, but I know she will love it if the trailers are anything to go by.
So all in all it's a weekend of fun and rest ... sorta!
Just what went on I have no idea. The sun was out for a few days, spring was in the air and we were heading for summer when BANG, the clocks went forward and the sun disappeared, we have snow in the north and sleet in the east, it’s rained for three days and now, NOW … THE KIDS HAVE BROKEN UP!
