Lately I have been attempting to create an oil which will mimic the affects of liquid luck from Harry Potter. It sounds silly, but it fascinates me. My latest attempt, Liquid Luck number 1 is running into snags. It seems to create marginal luck but then turn it around, following that luck with unluck to balance resulting in undesirable events. This needs to be fixed, obviously, but first I must find the problem.
I believe the problem lies in the complexity of the oil and possibly in one of the bases I've used. The first step is to test each base alone. I have a relative who has offered to be a guinea pig, but I'm not sure how I feel about this ethically. At the moment it doesn't seem I have many other options, especially since I am unable to test this one on myself (it contains lemongrass which could be harmful during pregnancy.) So I've resolved to go about testing the bases on him one at a time using all due caution. I should probably prepare a simple purification/unhexing mixture first for good measure.
Once I have that precaution in place I will start by making sure my van van oil is up to snuff. I believe the fault may be in the time of it's creation as I could not find any information on the best time to make it. The psychic that sold me the ingredients warned me to be sure to make it at the right time.
On a side note, how convenient is it that VR has a default journal category for potions? I suppose most don't use it so literally but I sure plan to. :P
