Time
Skillfully hiding in obscure memory
A messenger illusive in kind
Never around for the needy
Always arriving when unbidden
Dark delusion’s spectral scavenger
No negotiations and no conscience
Yet said to heal all wounds
Like carrion it arises as a relentless force
Sly, cunning and never reoccurring
Here today as only a glimpse of yesterday
Meaningless events flash by in recollection
Relative only to the context of view
Mere facsimile of ancient moments
Brushed in the mind of forgetfulness
Embedded in forever by its telltale signs
Arriving on the doorstep in pristine attire
A looking glass for the harbinger of death
Lurking just out of sight not to be noticed
Feared by those crossing its path
Time, a blessing or inevitable end
