Yesterday Anne Rice posted a review of one of her books. She often does this or reviews of other books or articles that are political or religious; whatever interests her. She posts it and then asks people to discuss what they think about it and nothing more inside Facebook. She has stated many times she wants it all to be civil.
Well, this young lady that for some reason thinks she is a literature expert from the UK posted this scathing review about the book Pandora, the only Anne Rice book she ever read. She talks about how she loved taring it up and making it into a crafty piece of work. The fans went off on her but not so much concerning the fact she took an old copy of the book and made a box or something out of it. It was with one reading of that little book she decided Anne Rice was a terrible writer.
That's like me saying Stephen King is a terrible writer because I singled out one book I didn't like that much. Writers work hard to create something and when one makes it a personal attack and she did against the fans in her article and Anne Rice personally, people are bound to react.
Then what she does is spread around the internet that Anne Rice is a despicable person that sent these fans to insult her more or less. I think the words were sic her fans on her. Her fans are of all ages so some posts were inflammatory but most were disgusted with what she wrote and stated so and why. She actually kept very calm outwardly and apologized like she didn't know her post would cause so much reaction. (Of course she didn't know...hahaha). She succeeded in getting the attention she wanted. Ms. Rice has posted many things and asked her "people of the page" to respond in discussion to HER and nowhere else but she didn't caution us not to post about what we read elsewhere. This woman got a reaction and I think she set out to do so to cause more trouble for Anne Rice.
So today someone else took up the torch and made claims again about Anne Rice sending her fans to this poor independent bloggers site. She did nothing of the sort. She posted the article for that as well and told everyone to be civil. I posted in both places. I hope all this stops. Ms. Rice can post whatever she wants. I'm sure she knew some of her fans would get angry, but she didn't send them there for that purpose, which is what they claim, at all. We as fans made that choice. I'm not even a big fan, kind of in the middle, but I was disgusted by what the blogger said. She had a comment section so therefore, she asked for the comments. The tables were turned and she was reviewed negatively and she couldn't take the heat she expected Anne Rice to take unfairly. I hope it all blows over but don't believe what you read because Anne Rice did not ask anyone to make any comments to either of these sites. Just read it and discuss what they thought about it on her page. It's so easy for drama to ensue on the net. Don't think it is just here, lol.
