Chapter Three – A Star Rises
Bertram lay with his eyes closed and his arms outstretched, the quilt having been decorously placed over his rotund belly.
Nevermind his cuts and bruises, Bertram felt exultant – he could never have imagined such pleasure, before this day…
Meanwhile, Laura Mae stood at the sink, thoroughly washing her hands.
As she stared dispassionately at her reflection in the mirror, she told him; “You’ll have to go back to your own apartment, after the show.”
She doubted it mattered to him, whether she sounded enticing or not, judging by the ecstatic state she had left him in.
The little man was back to being hers; and, ‘in this world,’ she mused, ‘every strong man has an even stronger woman behind him.’
‘And, if Bertram is not as strong as some, I’ll have to make up for it,’ she mused wryly, as she ensured her hands were thoroughly clean.
Laura Mae smiled: she had enough experience with men to know that afterward, they were always pliable. And, so it would be with Bertram – of that she was sure.
