I guess I'm one of them now, I'm a "Wii-tard". :) I got one for Christmas. Pretty cool though, have to get used to it a bit before I take on Rachel at Super Smash Bros. Brawl! :-P
T'was the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney with presents to give
And to see just who in this house did live.
As I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, No presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand,
On a wall hung pictures of a far distant land.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
A sobering thought soon came to my mind.
For this house was different, unlike any I'd seen,
This was the home of a U. S. MARINE.
I'd heard stories about them. I had to see more,
So I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor of his one bedroom home.
He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
Not at all how I'd pictured A U. S. MARINE.
Was this the hero of whom I'd just read,
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?
His head was clean shaven, his weathered face tan,
and I soon understood, this was more than a man.
For I realized the families I'd seen tonight,
Owed there lives to these men who were willing to fight.
Soon around the nation the children would play,
And grown ups would celebrate a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom each month and all year,
Because of Marines like this one lying here.
I couldn't help but wonder, how many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas eve, in a land far from home.
Just the thought brought a prideful tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.
He must have awakened, for I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice.
I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more,
My Life is my God, my Country, my Corps."
With that he rolled over, and drifted off to sleep,
I couldn't control it and continued to weep.
I watched him for hours, so silent and still,
I noticed he shivered from the cold night's chill.
I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
I covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with eagle globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
Though it barely fit me, I swelled with pride,
For one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.
I didn't want to leave him, so quiet in the night,
This guardian of honor, so willing to fight.
But half asleep he rolled over and in a voice so clean and pure,
Said "Carry on Santa, It's Christmas day and the country's secure."
One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas, my friend, Semper Fi and Good Night.

You'll never be alone :)
Never fails to make me cry. It's part of why if my children ever fail to stand as the colors go by they had better be unable to do so. Thank you for what you do.
That is nice poem
Food for thought, from a favorite movie of mine, "The American President".
America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech?
Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.
You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "land of the free".

Michael Douglas right?
i loved that movie.
100% agree!
Does it annoy you when people talk on their cellphones in public restrooms? Me too.
Well, do what I do. Next time you're in a stall, make the loudest fake fart sounds you can make with your mouth, then groan and moan a lot loudly, and finally, scream as though you're trying to give birth. You can add comments like, "I've never seen a turd this big!" or "I just broke the toilet!"
If that doesn't make them hang up, I don't know what will.

Ohhh evil...I love it lmao
Can't say I've ever come across someone using a mobile in a rest room?
Glad there's a plan, just incase. Lol
Holy hell...I already do that! I just can't see what could be so important that someone couldn't say..."can I call you back in a few minutes?" They have to sit on the pot talking themselves into idiocy...and the poor person on the other end probably has no clue that their friend is dropping a deuce.
That's when I do it...I do exactly what you mentioned until they hang up and say to me, "that was really rude."
I just laugh at that point because its ironic...I'm rude but they were talking to their friend while taking the browns to the superbowl? LOL :P People.....
=O
hahaha
do you really do that?
if so...
haha YOU ROCK!!
xD
*rolls around on the floor laughing hysterically*
ROFL!
I don't even talk to other people in the restroom. If I'm even thinking of heading there I ignore calls. Even in the tub at my home. Well ok sometimes I talk to my mom but ONLY at home and ONLY in the tub.
Last night I had a peculiar dream. I was driving down the Ike and I see this crazy speed demon weaving in and out of lanes in my rear view mirror.
It's a lime green mini pickup truck (why, I have no idea) and I was thinking in my dream, "yikes, he's going to crash" and he passes me, and then he cuts off this 18 wheeler and doesn't judge the distance and the 18 wheeler basically rolls right over the mini-pickup.
So I get out and check it out and they have two people on stretchers, but they are department store mannequins without heads, and they're moving around. Where there head goes is a metal plate screwed on there.
It didn't take me long to decipher the message of my dream:
"Only dummies drive that crazy" ;)
COMMENTS
Haha,, and there I was thinking of all different sorts of things it could be and you already knew the answer!
... that is why I don't drive....
I live in Boston MA...
and I think everyone who drives in downtown Boston where I work are psychotic behind a wheel..
I think they were taught to drive by dummies.
*gulps*
they're scary drivers out here

If you don't support the troops, fine. Be grateful you live in a country where you can voice your opinion. If you lived in China and voiced it against the military, you'd be shipped away, never to be seen again.
And who do you think keeps this country free? The troops. If we were to disband the military tomorrow, we'd be invaded in a hot minute by most of the countries out there. So before you go shooting off your mouth, think about that.
And also, think about this:
There's this little girl I know. She's 5. She doesn't fully understand why her daddy isn't coming home. Her older sister who's 8, cries most of the time and hits the wall.
So if you don't support the troops, think hard about why you don't.
And if you do support the troops, a heartfelt thank you and the next time someone says they don't, stand up for the troops and give them hell.
Semper Fi!

It is possible to support the troops but not support what they're doing. In fact, I support them fully. I say, get them the heck out of harm's way! We have no business over there except the business those who sent them there won't talk about.
And while we can voice an opinion against what is being done, what would happen to that freedom if we all carried the creed "if you're not for us, then you're against us"?
Something to think about.
Yes, you can support the troops without supporting the war. I don't believe in the mantra of "if you're not with us, you're against us", that's why I left it up to the reader to think about why they don't support the troops.
Like I said, if they don't support the troops, fine.
I know who this is directed at.
I love you and I might not actively do it, but I support the troops no matter what.
Good point, Laith.
Personally, I wish the government would get the troops back home, they shouldn't still be kept over there. But I admire those that are over there, continuing to fight for our country. Truly, without those in the military, we'd be screwed in a second.
And, for that, I admire you for being in the Marines. Tough job, but you're doing it well. :) Still keepin' my fingers crossed you don't end up being shipped to Iraq.
But good point, again, for mentioning the two girls. I feel for those kids whose parents were sent off and will never see them again, and for thsoe that will have to wait months and months to see them. It's painful to even watch my friends cry when their dad or mom is sent to Iraq.
But GO TROOPS! They've got my support and appreciation for what they do.
I completely AGREE
You mean I'm going to have to wait until 2010 for the Twilight sequel? *growls*
