It was almost seven o'clock and Nicola just finished her math and history homework. "Now what should I.." she started to say when she heard her phone sining" a Paramore song. "Hello?" she answered. "Hi", came an unknown voice. "Who is this?" Nicola was getting worried. Probably another prank. She was amazed by how many seniors could be so immature.
"It's Eric", the voice replied. "Oh. How did you get my number?" "Marie", he answered matter-of-factly. She would have to remember to thank her tomorrow. "Can we meet somewhere?" Nicola didn't know how to respond, but before she could think about it, she answered "Sure". Surprised by her own answer, she didn't say anything else. "Cool. Let's meet at the park." They said their goodbyes and hung up. Before she left to meet him, she went into her dresser drawer and got her pepper spray. You can't e too sure these days.
The walk to the park was a short one, but the wait for Eric took a little while. She was just about to leave when she heard footsteps. She turned around and saw him walking up. e's so good looking", she thought to herself. "Hi", he said. Nicola was speechless. "Let's go sit on the swings." Nicola followed him, plopped down on a swing, and looked ahead, resting her head on the chain. "She looks so beautiful in the moonlight." A voice spoke in her head. She looked around nervously. "is everything alright?" Eric called from the next swing. "I'm not sure..So what did you want to see me for?" she asked. "I wanted to share something with you,, but I don't know if I should." "Just tell me. I can take it", she said anxiously. "I think it might be easier to show you." Before she could respond he stood up and walked out in front of her. "You ready?" She nodded very slowly, not sure if she really was. Eric took a deep breath and then there was a sudden breeze. Nicola shivered and looked around, then bak to Eric. But when her eyes reached the spot where he'd been, Eric was gone and all that remained was air. She turned around in circles, thinking he was playing games.
Suddenly she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She turned around but saw no one. Reaching out, her fingers were expecting air and ran into something...invisible. She gasped and stepped back a few feet. She blinked a few times ad then Eric was back. "What...What are you?!" Nicola exclaimed. Eric stepped towards her but she stepped away. "I knew she wouldn't understand", said the voice in her head. "No its not..." she paused, realizing she was talking to herself. "I think somethings wrong with me." Eric looked concerned. "Why? What's happening?" "I keep hearing a voice in my heard." She told him the things she heard. "Those were my thoughts", he replied, shocked. Nicola went to sit on the swing, missed, and fell to the ground. Eric ran over to check on her, but she jumped up and ran off. A few yards away she turned around. Seeing ow hurt Eric looked, she yelled, "Just give me sometime!" Eric looked up and nodded.
The walk, or run rather, home was the longest time of Nicola's life. Once she arrived at her house, she ran upstairs and collapsed on her bed. What was happening to her? What should she do about Eric? Just when she was about to burst into tears, another one of Eric's thoughts popped into her head. "I hope she didn't get scared. I really like her..Please don't be afraid Nicola." She didn't want him to stop "talking". Something about his voice made her happier. She tried to focus thinking maybe she could hear more thoughts, but nothing came. All was silent. She couldn't wait to see him at school tomorrow. He would have to explain everything.

Nicola awoke in a panic. Still reeling from the nightmare, she tried to calm her breathing. Every time in the nightmare she ould see a guy standing in her bedroom doorway, then it would flash to the woods where some unknown girl was dying and the same guy was walking away. It was the same nightmare she'd been having for three months, ever since Eric Rathbone Arrived at West Monroe High. He was so mysterious and there was something about him that was calling her. "That's crazy!" she told herself every time th thought entered her head.
Eric was the most gorgeous guy she'd ever seen. He was tall, about 6 feet, had shaggy black hair, blue eyes, and a light tan. Nicola loved his smile. Nicola was your normal goth girl: black hair, bright green eyes, wore corset and band shirts with jeans. She was 5'6", and she also has colored extensions that match her corsets. She was a very beautiful girl but guys usually stayed away because of her style. So she's been single almost her whole life, with the exception of one long-distance boyfriend.
Nicola, thinking that she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep, got up and went to the bathroom. As she turned on the shower, a picture flashed through her eyes. It happened so fast she thought she imagined it. Dismissing it as a lack of sleep, Nicola quickly showered and got dressed, even though she has about two hours until school. Wearing her normal outfit, paired with dark purple extensions to match her shirt, she headed to school. She had an hour to walk half a mile, which meant an hour to think about how to approach Eric. She thought he could explain her dream.

As Nicola walked onto the campus, she saw her small group of friends, but something made her take a second look. As she got close, she realized it was a "someone", and that someone was Eric. When she finally reached her group, she threw her bag down and pulled Marie, her best friend, aside. "Why is he over here?" Nicola asked. "He wanted to hang out with us. He's super cute, huh?" Marie replied. There was a short pause. "Is something wrong, Nikki?" "No, not yet," Nicola answered. As they walked back to join the group, Nicola noticed Eric starring at her. She quickly looked away, hoping the bell would ring soon. Luckily she only had to wait about five minutes, but she soon realized Eric was in all of her classes.
Having made it through the first four classes, Nicola was doing great, considering how many times she saw Erin watching her. As she walked down the hall, thinking of him, she ran into someone. When she looked up and saw who it was, she said, "Speak of the devil." Erin looked puzzled. Nicola ignored his confusion and just said, "Why don't you watch where you walk?!" "I could say the same to you," he replied. Nicola blushed. "Do you think i can talk to you for a little while?" Nicola was the confused one now. "Umm....I guess." He walked away and Nicola followed.
They arrived at a secluded bench, though it was still within everyone's eyesight. "So what do you wanna talk about?" "I just want to know more about you. I learned everything I need to know and more about your friends within five minutes." Nicola giggled. She then launched into an abridged biography of herself: movies, music, hobbies, and anything else she liked. She was surprised by how interested he looked, like he really cared. "So why do you want to know all of this now? We've been at this school together for three months," Nicola questioned. "I was wondering how to approach you. I have to be careful around you." Just when she was about to ask him what that meant, he hastily answered, "I gotta go. Bye." Sitting on the bench, still stunned, Nicola tried to make sense of what he said.
