She walked through the misty forest to the crying she heard every night. She would lay in bed and listen to the sound of a wailing infant from deep in the woods. Tonight she awoke startled to hear it again but much louder.
As Sophia rose from her bed she ran outside to see a cloaked figure heading into the misty menacing forest. As the figure moved farther the crying grew fainter. She knew the figure had the baby. She had to stop the figure for she knew it was planning something terrible and evil.
While walking as silently as possible through the thick forest she was surprised to see the figure just stop. The hooded being turned to look in her direction. she heard something like the hiss of a cat and the figure bolted through the woods.
Normally she would have walked away but something drew her in further and before she knew it she was running after the being. After about thirty seconds of running after them she found the figure hunched over the roaring rapids of the Mississippi river. Being winter outside the water was as cold as death.
She watched uneasily as the figure put a small bundle into the river. She couldn't control herself and she screamed, "NNNOOO". She jumped in after the bundle just to realize it was too late to save it and now she was rushing downstream.
As her entire body started to lock up and shut down from the cold she spied a branch hanging over the river. She used every ounce of strength to pull herself up and out.
Worn out from the river journey she laid her head in the snow for just a moment to let her body try to warm up so she could walk home and call the police. Just as she tried to get up she realized that her body wasnt moving but she was. she was looking down at a crumpled 13 yr old girl laying in the snow with her black hair twisted on her arms and shoulders.
As she looked up she saw a bright light and was thinking that she was dead and going to heaven.
After a minute or two of floating she awoke in a white space. she looked around for any sign of where she was. There was none. Just as she was about to give up hope a bright orange light started to flow near her. she realized that it was warm but yet menacing at the same time.
As she focused she saw something in the light coming toward her.
