New Event Times:
Saturday August 2 2008 - Masquerade Ball Night
Dinner 4pm-5:30pm
Masquerade Ball: 6pm-10pm
Bar Service from 4pm-10pm
We encourage traditional Masquerade Ball attire.. Victorian or Baroque period clothing. Also acceptable is elegent or vampiric goth.
The hotel does NOT have a salon. And I do not believe there is one in the French Quarter. If you need the services of a salon, you should do this during the day outside the French Quarter.. or their maybe one of us attending that have experience with that. (if you do.. please post it).
I don't know for certian if she is going to come to this event... but if she does I know that Moonmystic is a professional hair stylist.
Perhaps if we all bribe and make goo-goo eyes at her she'll make sure we all rock the ball ;)
She SAID that she and Sabastian were going a month or so ago, but things do change.
We really do want to go, but I just don't know yet if we really can. We were planning on it. Aug 1 is our 10 year annivesary, and we thought this would be a great way to celebrate that. But, as some of you know, I just had surgury on my hand . I have no medical insurance, so I'll be paying for it all by myself. :( I'm afraid this my really strap us for a bit, but I won't know anything for sure untill I receive the bills. If, however, we do work it out, I would be glad to help out in the hair department as long as I still get time to make myself pretty too!
I'm a licenced hairdresser and I can do many things as I will be attending (just in the process of my paperwork) I will just need to know in advance what will be required so I can bring necessary tool of the trade.
I read somewhere, in one of these meet-up threads, that any costume or attire is accepted. I think it was Cancer that said it. He mentioned a 20s period and so I was planning on a flapper outfit. Hope that works, 'cause that's what I have planned! =) I don't see it as mattering anyway, as long as we are there! =)
I am curious what others are wearing.
I love the 20s.
Polishsiren *smiles and does puppy eyes* will you do my hair so I don't look like a poodle that night? Please? pretty please?
Do you happen to know any clothiers that you could recommend for us?
Omg! Right on!! Polishsiren--I will love you forever and a day if you can help me do my hair for this event!!
*makes "Puss n Boots" eyes from Shrek* LOL
sheesh blah blah blah *walks away mumbling about stupid hair junk*
Yeah yeah.. you watch it Mr.!! Or you'll find yourself at the top of the 'pin-cusion' list...lol
Just cause you don't have any hair doesn't mean it's not important to other ppl! >:P
we can always put a wig on him....poodle style or lol maybe a long long long wig so he can trip all night on it lol rofl
uh huh.. yeah a 'Gone With the Wind' kind of style might be a nice look at the ball for him....but , frankly, my dear.. I wonder if he will give a damn... lol ;)
haha --yeah its really late and I am very sleep deprived..that really sounded a lot funnier in my head just now.. ah oh well!! LOL
i have heared of the masquerade ball but i have never went what is it about?
It is possible to attend the ball without a room, tight? That's how I understood it.
I never went to any balls at all. Bummer for me.. Have i lead a sheltered life? nah..
yep you can attend the ball without renting a room...actually you can attend all events without renting a room.
And NG we can always just use spray paint on his head then...a nice shade of fushia would be "interesting"
**AllGenre Edit**
You MUST advance reservations, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A ROOM. The hotel has a maximum limit. If you do NOT PRERESERVE you WILL be turned away. This is the hotels policy.
This sounds like so much fun!!!!!!!!! I wish I were a Paris Hilton trust fund baby so I could afford to go. Bummer, I am a hard working mortgage paying woman who has way too much debt on her credit cards to consider this fun time! Boo Hoo!
CM~~ Oh I am surrrree Ben would just LOVE that!! Spray paint would take forever to get out too!! *evil grinz* Perhaps even a nice rainbow design?? It would go with whatever color clothes he wants to wear then! *snickers*
I'll be wearing a wig - makes it easy! Just one problem, since I'm in a room by myself, cannot get into a corset without help! Limits what I want to wear - dammit
I'll help you with your corset, as you have so nicely offer to help me with mine.
and NG so you bring the can? Cause I sure they wont let pass the border with spray cans lol
get some glowing colors so that it will be even more fun
yay! so confused as to what to wear :P
running out of time to make something and need to go find a new wig and bring the corsets :) :)
Hmm, *looks around at the best of the best troublemakers* So, too late for me to come on by? I was about to call for a res (since I am noticing this wayyyy too late), but would hate to find I'd have to room somewhere else in the Quarter. LOL, which leads me to wonder who's left without a roomie?
You can book at the current rates BUT.. you should get with Scarlett! She needs to sell her room as she cant make it and its to late to cancel.

Ok silly question... if the dinner is so much earlier than the ball, what is suggested dinner attire?
There really isnt one. I am wearing my masquerade attire. the two are supposed to blend into each other. However the waitstaff needs time to clear away the dinner remains.
Wait.. Wait Wait.. the dinners and times were moved. Evidently, I updated the information on the printable information, but not here.. so here they are.
Events/Times:
Friday August 1 2008 - Club Night

Club/Bar Opens: 6pm-10pm
Saturday August 2 2008 - Masquerade Ball Night
Dinner 4pm-5:30pm
Masquerade Ball: 6pm-10pm
Bar Service from 4pm-10pm
My understanding is that the dinner is buffet style. Is this correct?
Because honestly eating at 4 is WAY too early for me, and I would prefer to come around 5pm- but if there is no food left, then I will just eat out.
Damn - 4pm???? that's really really really early! Ok, I'll be there towards the end of the dinner on Friday, once off plane and at hotel and hurry to dress.....hope there's still some food~!
I sadly must admit I could not find a mask worthy around here ( this the curse of living in a remote location)
As for the attire, I found the perfect dress, I wish to ask if we will be on a floor or on a carpet for the evening?
I need to know so I can select the shoes, if we are on the floor I am wearing my plateforms, if on a carpet I will simply wear hight heels.
"My understanding is that the dinner is buffet style. Is this correct?" - Sahahria
This is a very good question and one I actually had, myself. Do forgive if it was covered elsewhere but as of late I have simply not had time to keep up and am trying to cram before finals, as it were, so I can make sure no surprises hit me on the way out the door.
And if so, on the buffet note, is this how the food is for the entire time of the booking. Breakfasts and dinners?
Thank you.
