A couple of teens here on VR who are very important to me have brought to my attention the fact that there is a user, much older than they are, on VR who has made repeated unpleasant advances to both of them, making them feel very uncomfortable and even a little frightened.

This got me to worrying that other kids on VR might have experienced the same thing, and that thought, combined with what my two beloved girls went through, makes me want to do something to protect all of the kids of VR.

If you are a teenager who has been approached by an adult, and for some reason you don't feel comfortable bringing it up to your CM, please, please message me and let me know what's going on. I will go through all the appropriate channels on your behalf, keeping you anonymous if you prefer, and report the person who is harassing you. I am completely willing to take the battle to protect you as far as Cancer if I have to.

VR is a place to meet people, have fun, and I believe, to feel safe. If you don't feel safe, you do NOT have to put up with that, and you should let someone in charge know you are being harassed immediately. Your CM, ACM's, any Dominar, any Sentoran, should be able to help you and protect you. And me. You do not have to be alone, and you do NOT have to be a victim.

Self Appointed Protector of VR's Kids

I am a teenager, and find this Very helpful. My parents bug me almost every day that they dont think VR is safe.
I know that in most occurances, this is false. But there is always the chance.
I have been a member since last January, and have never been harassed where I could not control it.
I will come to you if anything was to ever get out of hand.

i am a boy and it happened to me yesterday by a Sire but of course i dont want to make a stink at how rude people are and how they treat us like trash so i just put the person on my blocked list and told others to too.

I agree with this. Honestly VR isn't that safe at all, but of course this world isn't safe *LOL*
But if you guys don't feel safe just put that person on block...that's what they made it for :)

Finally it being made aware of which is great. There has been many polls regarding the subject . So it's nice to see it finally coming out and being addressed.

yeah it is a sad fact that some think this is a meat market

hmm i could do something about that my friend on here deals with ppl like that who sexually harass other ppl online . He works for other sites for free to stop things like that he has an account here also.

I do believe its stupid and needs to stop

I met my ex on here when I was like 16. Then I found out he was 36. Being a nieve teenager I fell into the trap. I moved out to Los Angeles to be with him a month after my 18th bday. Turns out he was psyco...not the good way either.
So yeah, this place isn't the best place for teens :(

While it is noble, admirable perhaps, to express concern for the protection of those who might be considered by some to be vulnerable populations, VR already has the mechanisms in place to protect individuals who may be experiencing the hardships you describe.

The VR Terms of Service clearly define consequences for actionable behavior of this nature. In addition, VampireRave.com operates in full-compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.

As noted, the person who feels upset MUST approach someone, and with all due respect to the author of the thread, a person who is a "self-appointed protector of children" is just as anonymous online as someone who is not.

The gist: approach an administrator if you have concerns of this nature. This is one of the reasons the administration team is in place, and quite frankly, the admin team has the ability to actually DO something about your complaint. This path cuts out the "telephone game" aspect of "well so-and-so told me blah blah blah"; at which point the information becomes heresay and is difficult to verify and act upon.
