Assuming that we're vampires, in usual adaptations there are no taboos in our culture. Does our community here preserve that?
Generally speaking taboos exist in almost all cultures,no matter how open. There are complete taboos and then there are implied ones, the real question is which taboos does a particular individual have in the subculture. One person may have one type of taboos, while another person in the same subculture could have totally different taboos.
I would think (as with anything else) involving minors would be considered taboo.
I mean, it is apparent even in books and film. 'Interview With The Vampire' pointed this out.
*Granted, I don't think you're actually talking about fictional vampires.
I always thought about it kind of like sex. Like everything has to be consensual, and kids shouldn't be involved.
It really does depend on the individual group/coven/sect and the individuals themselves. What type of vampire too, Sanguine, Pranic, Tantric etc.
I'm not aware of any 100% taboos, except perhaps that of infants. (There are kids here, i.g. under 18, who drink/donate blood and energy).
Some won't even use humans, but prefer animals. Others will only use other members of the same initiate. I know there are even the rare nutjobs who don't mind killing people - at least from stories I've heard.
I guess a good rule of thumb would be: let it be consensual and don't cause any lasting harm.
The actual vampire community doesn't involve those under 18 in their organizations. Some have helped younger people start their own or at least they have in the past. On occasion if someone asks me for advice and are under 18 I will direct them to good sites. There are a lot of websites but even though they sound viable they have been created by nutjobs with delusions of grandeur. Not everyone uses pranic as a type. I do but most just say sanguine or psychic and a few will use the terms eros or tantric and of course pranic sometimes or just plain energy. There are some that also use elemental as well and others. They identify by feeding style which I have never agreed with. I don't consider that relevant. You are either a vampiric or you are not no matter your preference and some are combined...hybrid. We use to mean Otherkin hybrid in the past but nowadays when you see that they are meaning those that feed by more than one style like energy/blood and other combinations. No one can enforce anything in the community but you can be shunned if it isn't an overall accepted way of doing things. Most use donors depending on how they feed. Some believe if you don't drink blood you are not a vampiric but they are a minority and I say hogwash. Any taboos would be apart of an organization like the Temple of the Vampire for instance, which is more of a standalone group like Aset Ka. The TOV won't allow you to be a member if you drink blood. They believe those who do are unevolved, so in a sense, to them. blood drinking is a taboo. They say they feed in the astral. I would suppose if you knew how to do that or even believed in it and didn't tell you drank blood you could get in even if people say they can tell this or that. Not everyone is psychic or has any extreme special powers. Sanguinarius' site was a good one to read and I know some of the older vampirics are maintaining her information but not sure about her website but I think so. I have no need to go there so I haven't checked. She passed away awhile back and she had strong ideas about certain things. Violence is very taboo and being arrested for things that society in general doesn't accept. They usually stay away from controversial situations and people who are troublemakers like the guy who calls himself the Vampirologist...a very unsavory person.
There are so many different creatures defined by their feeding. How could it be possible to define the concept across all the different creatures.
Taboos can range from one thing to another, if we go about sexual stuff, then most of the time even when some deny having taboos most will not invovle underage, but there is also other areas then sex.
There is the feeding for those who do, there is the emotional part there is the simple 'fashion' or familar part there is the social part there is the simple stuff like normal food, shopping playing games, like cards monopoly or others, there is so many area some many things that this can't even be all taken in account.
Overall there is and will always be taboos in some areas regardless of the 'no taboo here' for some, everyone has at least a personal taboo, its part of the nature of living things.
The only difference is in: what is taboo to you and what is taboo to the other person.
Id say show vampiric respect and generally common sense and be nice!
Why don't we start with whatever it is you're trying to get away with, and go from there?
