Greetings,
I've been "Googling" about psychiatric disorders where people think they are a vampire. I've mostly found information about Renfield's Syndrome. That's not really what I hoped to find. I am more interested in disorders, issues where people believe they are vampires but do not drink blood. Any advice on where to look for that kind of detail?
This is sort of in the same vein as what you're asking about but not...really. I don't know, but there have been numerous cases of people suffering from psychological illnesses, believing they are vampires, and as a result committing murders...although these people were "blood drinkers," not psychic vampires. But...I mean, considering these cases have been well publicized that might be a decent starting point.
Oh, I forgot, here's one really well known example, Rod Ferrell.
If one were to call ithis state of being a form of "psychological" vampirism, then the believers ought to be in straightjackets. Disorders are another story altogether. I view disorders as a state of being; not an illness. Disorders are not illnesses. There's plenty of debate surrounding this misconception. It's an oppressive situation. Vampirism is a State of Being, whether it's labelled a disorder, condition or an illness.
