When an Empire Won't Hear The Truth, Rowena Must Learn to Lie
Still reeling from the loss of their human slaves, the vampires of the sunless city of Sanguinia are angry and divided. Rowena and Vincenzo, her wealthy vampire boyfriend, are set to tackle a new threat, a reactionary political front that threatens to repeal all the progress they have made so far in bringing equality to the country.
When Vincenzo encourages her to take on new responsibilities, Rowena accepts a job at Gargoyle, one of of Sanguinia’s top news networks. In theory, they value her perspective as a human, but in reality she struggles against an uncaring editor and the barely restrained hostility of her co-workers. Just before she goes on air for the first time, she’s assaulted by co-anchor and rising media personality, Titus Severus.
Ignored by crew and her superiors, Rowena looks for a new way to make a difference and, betting on a long shot, she aims to interview the mysterious prince of Kemet. The prince is young, charming, intelligent, and just as invested in improving life for the humans in Sanguinia as Rowena is herself.
Hitting it off with the prince just as a gulf forms between Rowena and Vincenzo, her exclusive interview with foreign royalty is set to propel her to overnight stardom, but can Rowena hold onto the connections she needs to keep Sanguinia’s humans safe and free, or will Titus sweep away her efforts and usher in a new age of hatred and violence?
