The Forum Types of Closure
There are two types of thread closure: RIP and RIA.
RIP stands for Rest in Peace. Threads that are marked as RIP are maintained in the archive but can no longer be posted to.
RIA stands for Rest in Agony. Threads that are marked as RIA are marked for automatic deletion. They can no longer be posted to and will be deleted in 24-48 hours by the system.
An Administrator will sometimes mark a thread as RIA versus outright deleting it. This is done as an example. The poster can see that their thread was considered non-appropriate and hopefully the poster will not post similar threads in the future.
Premium members can open and close their own threads. If an Administrator closes your thread, it is not a good idea to reopen it without consulting the Administrator first.
