I want a double summer time in winter!!! ...as recommended by ROSPA (Royal Society of Preventation of Accidents) Anyone else interested?
Safety campaigners, including the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), have made recommendations that British Summer Time be maintained during the winter months, and that a "double summertime" be applied to the current British Summer Time period, putting the UK one hour ahead of GMT during winter, and two hours ahead during summer. This proposal is referred to as "Single/Double Summer Time" (SDST), and would effectively mean the UK adopting the same time zone as central European countries such as France, Germany, and Spain (Central European Time and Central European Summer Time).
I remember writing a poem once entitled, "It only snows in summer " some of you may remember that. Well here we are in the second day of summer and we have three inches of snow already... I am wondering if this just isn't a little bit crazy? I really cannot remember this happening before in summertime!
Yes, I know what you mean Images, thanks for that.. but what I was referring to is that British Summer Time (BST) or Greenwich Daylight Saving Time (GDT) is the civil time during the summer months in the United Kingdom and Ireland during which the clocks are advanced from Greenwich mean time (GMT) by one hour. This happened two days ago. It was first established by the Summer Time Act of 1916, was amended by subsequent acts and is now defined by the Summer Time Order of 2002 which laid down that it would be
...the period beginning at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of the last Sunday in March and ending at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of the last Sunday in October.
Well I guess that would be different than regular old 'Summer' (June July August)... We have daylight savings time here as well- just happened recently. But for us it is totally Spring.
Do people there consider this truly Summer right now? And if so- do you have a Spring?
Well this was pretty confusing because I just don't consider this to be Summer at all. I wasn't reading this to be 'technical' (BST). It's early Spring. The Groundhog saw his shadow and went back to sleep for 6 more weeks, I knew it was going to be a late 'Winter'... lol
I love Windows 7..the operating system is super cool, umcomplicated and the features amazing. Instead of having two screens, I can now have one with two documents open :) That aces it for me.
I also got a new I-phone 3GS yesterday and compared to Blackberry which I found complicated to use... it is a breeze in being user friendly :) Automatic everything including uploads to the notebook, laptop or computers. I am so hooked on it already!
Now..bring on the I-Pad to the UK quick! that is going to be such a handy-dandy tool for my audits.
I love Windows 7, was so happy to get it when I got a new computer weeks back. As for the phone, I went with an Android powered by Google. You'd probably find the interface pretty much the same as iPhone- touch screen and all... only with slide out keyboard just in case typing text with real keys is something you prefer (which I do).
It is difficult to get used to the touch for texts, I admit.. but there are many features missing on Iphone which my Blackberry supported that are missed.
I haven't heard anything about Android..(sp) but it sounds super cool. Sometimes I feel like going back to Blackberry but they just make it so unneccessarily difficult I think, having to sign up email via their server.
There are tons of Android phones made by different companies. Everyone's cell service provider has a line of them.

WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?? has Vampire Rave got a bad case of tourettes or something? Every freeking page I turn brings down a freekin advertisment. Grrr!
I was listening to a programme on television about Vampires in society to-day. The presentation on this subject arrived at the conclusion that people who believed in Vampires today, or those who believed they were a Vampire... were really only people who were scared to die, or scared of the thought of death
I think people that are scared to die are all over the place- they are most everyone. Death usually comes with pain, people don't care for pain- and they don't care for the thought of leaving behind all they know to either cease to exist completely, or move on into a new realm of existing.
Well exactly..that is my perception on this also. People will always fear major things that they do not understand such as death. Umm, maybe goths also lol!

Wednesday is St. Patrick's day, so lets get this right! It is not St. Patty's, nor Paddy's day ok? If you call it anything different it would be akin to calling Independance Day umm ... Indy's Day for chrissakes. o^O
Although St. Patrick was never called 'Paddy', himself... it was merely a shortening of a holiday term... like Australians will call Christmas 'Chrissy'. The Irish that came to America started calling it that, not people from other places. It may bother the Irish in Ireland... but then again, we can't get what we can consider a 'real' burger anywhere other than the US... and so forth. There will always be what we consider the 'real' stuff in all originating countries- not meaning what the other people have is any less than what they've always known. We all have a perception, and that perception is our reality.
St. Patrick was not a 'Paddy'- Christmas was never 'Chrissy'... neither bother me at all.

When I lived in Japan, I hated that I couldn't find any authentic American food in any of the places that claimed. Since I have returned home to America- I hate that I can't find any authentic Japanese food in any of the places that claim it. And so it goes...
In the dioceses of Ireland it is a both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation and outside of Ireland, it can be a celebration of Ireland itself. I get it :) but still.. I think Saint Patrick should have his proper title..
It's a holy day here, too... for Roman Catholics and Anglicans. Christmas is as well but is called different things in different places. It's a strong subject for you, because your Irish, I get that. But just any old American didn't start the St. Paddy thing. That's my point. The celebrations aren't 'religious' at all. Like Mardi Gras- it's a celebration before Lent, but those in the parades and catching beads aren't taking part of the religious theme, really. And then again, Christmas- most people these days celebrate the cultural holiday of decorations, getting family together, and appreciating each other with gifts.
People here celebrate it for a couple reasons, paying homage to their ancestry, or paying homage to a country they don't even know... just having fun in the name of Ireland. They surely aren't doing it to shame the country or St. Patrick.

I got some nifty gifts for my birthday.. Roberto Cavalli sunglasses (never to be removed from the jeep!) Midnight rain perfume and body lotion, a plane ticket from Ireland to Southampton, England, crystal candlestick holders and a gorgeous Mango shirt.. gosh it was like Christmas all over again! I wish birthdays would happen more often!
Wow, and I got to make myself dinner for my birthday. But... me little boy made me a birthday card and and a list of all kinds of things to do with me for my 'birthday week'.
Yes...but Scott got you to make dinner on his birthday too! :) To be honest, I was overwhelmed with the gifts I got. Hubby got me the glasses and I bet that was because I cried floods when I got my last pair of designer sunglasses nicked.. It was really sweet of him and that is why I have promised to keep them in the car this time!
Piggy came out to play last night grrrr!
