I want to thank those who made lovely comments on my Egyptian and Italian photographs...that means a lot to me as well as any critique you may of left. I always seek self-improvement, so it is much appreciated. Taking the photographs into the sun proved a challenge to my Nikon point and shoot..but hey, they weren't too bad!
When in Egypt .. I forgot to tell you these two things. One, our pyramid guide called, "Mr. Omar" (complete with English accent) took us to an oil seller down in the bazaar. I was amazed to see in his journal the names of perfume houses in America and Europe signing to say they bought his oils! I knew they were genuine, so I got half a litre of lotus flower, rose flowers, and Sahara flower oil. Can you imagine the aroma of that ...real squeezed flowers oil :). So inexpensive as well!
My second little experience was while in the museum in Cairo in the "Mummy Section" the lights went out! It was pitch dark, and very very scary with all the Mummies around! (all of them ancient Kings and Queens of Egypt) so, Jane and I grabbed hold of each other and just screamed lol... Thankfully, the lights came on again on again quickly!
As one, or two of you may know I live in a rural area near the ocean and I have never seen this before in my life. Today, the bats are out and flying early.. they seem crazy, I mean *wow* aren't they supposed to be noctural creatures?
COMMENTS
Maybe they saw you and wanted a tasty bite? lol :P
That is interesting as they are very early for the mating season too. Must be typical of the Irish bats!!
Thinking...that probably their nest was disturbed. Bats are a protected species in Ireland though.
..and have been since 1976! But they are pretty much protected all over Europe these days.
Wow, I see a sun, and a blue sky sunset in North West Ireland. Thinking, maybe summer is going to arrive soon? Weather sucks.. but then I guess that is why they call it the Emerald Isle. x
COMMENTS
Just looking for the 'cracks' in this entry!
Yea, the weather has turned again.
True...a beautiful island nation!
Thank God that you are not on the flip side...most of the US was being held hostage by scotching heat waves for over a month...well, except for where I live (California) which is perfect - lol!
I waana go:):):)
You know..I could of been a saint. The problem to that was well, I did like men, (met one exceptional one too) and I didn't want to die a virgin!
COMMENTS
Men? hmmm! Double figures maybe? lol
We could always call you 'Saint Many'
Now now, single figures please Steve! LMAO, they never made it above the knee though!
Yea but from what direction?!!
heh.. guess, I walked into that one! time for a new journal entry!
*Oops* Hubby has left me alone with the bank cards, and www.asos.com open. There is already five dresses in the bag.. I love sales! Lmao..I don't think he will make that mistake again!
COMMENTS
haha nice ;)
'Ooops?' Don't you mean 'Uh-oh?'
Yea, ... , women!!
LMAO! Bad girl! hide them and take them out one at a time and when he ask you about them and if their new just look at him and say " this old thing ? no I've had it a while. technically its not a lie you have had it a while you just didn't say how long.
Oh, heh.. LSS YOU seem to know all about it! I should learn from you! x
LOLOL! You forgot to take me with you :P
Gee.. what a week that was playing catch-up at work after taking ten days off. Especially being sick through-out it. I was working with another Auditor who came over from Scotland for three days. It was all arranged otherwise I would of taken a few days off to recover. I have today off though.. so hubby is taking me out for a carvery lunch at the local hotel which I will look forward too :) I love their soft silverside roast beef that just falls apart when you go to cut it. (Add mouthwatering affect here)
Later, I may take a drive up the coast to go see Mum and Dad. They live a few miles away from me but it would be nice to see them :)
Hilary Clinton said on her recent visit to Cairo that Egypt was one of the most important countries in the world. The majesty of all of that is reflected in my last set of photographs from Egypt.
I do have loads more though, and if you ever want to see any of these, then please do ask :)
COMMENTS
So awesome :) thank you for sharing all of these wonderful pics Pam :)
Bet you wondered where the idea for sand castles came from!! lol
Not sure where Hilary was going with that one as all countries are important just ask anyone that lives there.
I love the Sphinx and the myths and history that surround it. But to be there, that's just 'wow'!!
Sailing on the Nile River at sunset, and the Red Sea photographs
COMMENTS
That's a special type of sun out there. Great pics.
Wow.love the pictures of your travels. Places I would never get to visit in person. Thanks for sharing!!
These are just beautiful.
Thanks, it is very hard to shoot into the sun and get a useable print. I could of filled in with the flash and used different lenses, and filters but there again I was on vacation and didn't want to be encumbered with so much weight in that unbearable heat!
Nice!
I so wanna' go to Egypt!
It is not easy shooting into the sun, I just love shooting sunflares..it gives a certain warmth.
I LOVE your captures here..leaves me warm and fuzzy wanting to be right there....
Well done you!!
Tahir Square, Cairo Egypt.. as it was when I was there. You will see the puppet of the Murbarak hanging in the picture and also the burnt out government building that they set fire to.
Obviously I had to keep a low profile here so the shots were taken out of the car window.
COMMENTS
Brave going to a country still under military rule and even with the burnt out governments buildings you wouldn't really notice the difference...
I like the last picture the best, who's your friend? lol.. just kiding.
There is an aura about a country that outdates the UK by 5000 years! Seems you had a great time with minimal burns!
Oh wow. Were you a little anxious? Damn.
Yeah - the aftermath of the riots are still evident in the photos...
Yet all is well at the Pyramids! :)
COMMENTS
NICE! Love the pics...and I know that there will be more!
Great photos!
You gotta laugh when an Arab is holding his nose!!
Great pics ... so far ... I'm so expecting a lot more.
These are GREAT! thank you for posting them for us.:D
I thought the first and the third photos were hilarious.. the wee arab was nearly equal in size to his donkey! I was amazed to see how poor the community was and the fact they were still using donkeys!
:) Wonderful images. Love the little donkey in the first one, the last one too. What a place.
LUCKY!!!! :D so jealous lol I am so happy that you got to experience this though. Great pics!
These are wonderful! And look at you on that camel, too cool :D
Okay, so I am nuts. I wrote a letter to Peter Dinklage inviting him for tea with hubby and I. *rolls eyes* well.. If you don't try you will never get anywhere, and I ain't one to sit on my laurels about something!
COMMENTS
That's right ! I hope he accepts your invite because that would be really cool !
I don't know who he is but I do know I've never been invited for tea!
He just might surprise you and accept!
If he comes around, I want to see pics!
Heh, well yea you never know.. I sent it all official on Company headed paper and with all my Designatory titles after my name. Also sealed the envelope with the Company seal, so it looks the part!
Kudos for asking........as my Mom always says.......all they can do is say No......at least you will have tried.
Exactly Elemental! You have to pursue your dreams as they will not come to you by meditation alone :)
I'm sick and tired of the mindless drones who spew what was bashed and manipulated into their heads without any thought to the science behind observation.
When you look at something like a stream of particles, it isn't what it appears to be. When you don't look at it, it turns into something different. How can this be? Welcome to the quantum universe!
The mere act of observing something changes it right down to the quantum level. Let's say I open up the flood gates of God in relation to quantum physics.
Every time we define God as a name, such as Jesus, Allah, and so on, we limit the object into one form. Since one cannot say that God has but one form, we would be dead wrong to try and define God as such.
You don't have to believe in God for God to exist, God is quantum energy! So, everything being energy held up by energy, including us, being the same as the energy that is God, no definition by man is correct. Not even the sound it makes when you say the word "God."
So have at it Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and so on. No matter what you define the universe as, you are wrong. It is best left undefined by any sound or thought form we can concieve of.
God has no name, so just live and be happy.
On arrival at Belfast City Airport the other day, a 'Game of Thrones' driver was standing ready to pick up some of the crew. I made a straight bee-line to ask him some serious questions, but gosh-damn it his phone rang, and I only got three questions answered before I had to go on.
I found out that Peter Dinklage was due on Friday in Northern Ireland (so he has been here three days) I also found out that the cast were filming in Shane's Castle, Antrim on Thursday past, and in Banbridge on Friday. I know they are coming up my way so I may take a scout around this afternoon..
The driver also told me that some of the security men may allow you to watch the filming from a distance...
COMMENTS
Not my thing, but I hope you enjoy :-)
I've never seen the show but sounds like you might get a peek :)
Been ill since my return from Egypt, but I got to see the doctor yesterday so I am on the mend :) Hopefully get up some photos today or tomorrow. Sailing down the Nile at sunset was just about the highlight of my trip.. that and seeing/touching the pyramids :)
COMMENTS
wow im so damn jealous right now. im glad you got to see / experience these things:))). i still wonder about the pyramids. how in hell did they build them all that time ago
Sunsets on the Nile have always been the inspiration for many a song, I can understand this being a highlight.
Anyway, get well and looking forward to the pics.
Any crocs?
I too am jealous that sounds amazing and the pics must be aawesome. Get well soon though
Thanks, it was worth coming home ill though. Daire, they built a dam in Aswan which prevents any crocodiles invading the northern partof the Nile... So nope the Nile River in Cairo apparently doesn't host crocodiles anymore.
Must of been absolutely amazing! hope you get feeling better soon Pam xx
I am home from Egypt, and now I can say with a genuine authority how nice cool weather truly is :) I had a fabulous time and the photographs I have are amazing.. it was unbelievable how close you are allowed to go to ancient sites, and even more unbelievable, you were allowed to touch the relics! We saw the Crypt of the Holy Family, and the City of the Dead..both for the Coptic Christian and the Muslim.
Write more later.. but my thanks to all who kept giving me honour in my absence! I wasn't able to get on VR from Cairo.
COMMENTS
Sounds like it was truly an experience of a lifetime! :)
Glad you're back safe ... actually just glad you're back.
Looking forward to the pics :-)
Missed you lovely! Glad you had a fabulous time, I bet it was just fascinating, and getting to touch the relics?! Just wow...
I can't wait to see the photos!
really is great to see you back. pleased you had a great time too :))))).
In a very short time I will be just a stone-throw away from the Nile and Pyramids. How cool is that! I worked my fingers to the bone, just to get this vacation and often into the wee hours of the morning. Finally, I have no more work left to catch up on.. just a diary full of appointments for every day when I return... until the 5th of August. But who cares right now.. heh! Sun, sun, sun.. here I come :) I will miss my hubby though.. 'tis only me that is going, as this is the busy time in businesses he looks after.
COMMENTS
Oh, travelling along. Don't stand still in the market place or you may fimd yourself sold!!
Come back safe and sound!
lol, better not to go spilt at the seams then S! I have a black muslim shroud cover thing for the markets. At least Jane has in the house I mean. I doubt I will want to go to market as I just feel more into chilling, and well its Adam's birthday on Tuesday night. My suitcase is full of pork cocktail sausages for the bar-b-que and ham :)
Be safe and enjoy your well deserved time off :)
Have a great time and watch out for the Crocs if you swim in the Nile.
I. Am. So. Jealous. Right. Now!
Fed up with the rain and flooding, so I am going to Cairo in a couple of days, HOPEFULLY I will tire of the sun and crazy temperatures and long to be back in cooler climes again. In Cairo it is 20C higher than here..but I am looking forward to my trip. My niece is taking me to see the Pyramids, cruise down the Nille and we are going down to the Red Sea for a few days. Can't wait!.. Going to start my packing soon. :)
COMMENTS
I really do hope you have a wonderful time. To see one of the wonders of the world is a marvel. Stay safe and don't drink the water!
I'm closer I got sun, and warm temperarure and air conditioning and I cook well :)
you can come over here :p
Oh my God...the land of my past life! I want to go!
Have a blast!
Wow, how amazing would that be, have fun dear :)
I think I picked up a penalty and three points on my driving license today for speeding in a 30mph zone! The copper had his speed gun pointed at me lol, and it's ironic because I was on my way to monitor driving training lol! Doh, could only happen to me!
COMMENTS
If you do get a fine, challenge it, callenge every thing!
I will, I shall..I will!
I knew that there was a bit of Bonnie inside of you!
(Bonnie, of Bonnie & Clyde fame).
Dam rozzers!!
Images of Venice :) My wee Nikon wasn't working so well, and I had to buy a new camera when I got home...
COMMENTS
More great pics. Love Venice.
Soon it will sink and then where we gonna go for a cornetto?!!
Wonderful photos! I've always wanted to see Venice...maybe one day!
I've always loved how many of the buildings are right there in the water.
I have never been and would like to go one day.
These are just beautiful!
A photo of me and my new car! *grins* Pity hubby didn't tell me my button was open, lol you can see flesh!
COMMENTS
WOW ,HOT CAR nice lady too
Quite literally 'bursting at the seams'. lol
That's a great shot, I love all that grill and chrome ... talking about the car now!
Laughs, literally yup Bloodlife! It was taken last night right after a meal!
Wow that is a really nice looking car.
Hot car AND hot lady!!
Lol Mr Ban, I hear you!
...And here is the getaway car!
I forget.. is it Ballintoy Harbour, or King's Landing?
COMMENTS
Wow, great pics. It really is a beautiful part of the country and the sea looks so calm as I know it can get very rough out there.
The other pic of you, well, I so want a close up :-p
The top one looks like it was where he met his Sister again...After meeting her for the first time and he...lol
The adopted son of the Starks..who ended up betraying....
Ok ok... I won't spoil the story if people haven't watched it.
It really is a must to watch.
So many plots within a plot...and I haven't even mentioned The Wall!
Love these :)
And does anyone recognize this blonde doll with the sore foot, in the cave where the black witch was born?
COMMENTS
Ah, so this is the cave where she was born
I didn't want what happened after the birth to happen...things were starting to look very strong in the favour of the Starks.
I like Arya Stark, for a young child she is very very clever....I am just wondering about her new friend..and I hope he doesn't betray her. So far he has lived up to his word.
So far, and I hope that continues!
You lucky girl that is so cool
I wonder does anyone recognize this harbour?
COMMENTS
Dream job- finding locations for movies/ TV shows. :)
Wonderful images, so peaceful.
Looks like the Iron Islands to me.
Oops yea, the port of Pyke of the Iron Islands :) my mistake but most of it was filmed in Belfast and the Mournes. Kings Landing is Croatia as far as I am aware. Why don't you and Flan take a scoot up to see the rehearsals and setup in July?
Myself and Flan are out of the country for a week in mid July and then we leave again to head to the states the last week in July.
Pity you will missing then... But traveling out of Ireland during the monsoon season is much more exciting! I go to Cairo shortly :)
Game of Thrones crew, so I am told by Mrs McCullough at the wee tea shop tonight in Ballintoy Harbour will be there during the last week of July. You can't go down there on the day of shooting, however I have been told you can observe them setting up the scenes and practising! So, I will be down there to watch that.. Lordy, it would be a shame to miss it!
Tonight, the weather was just fine and we took some great shots of the area where they are filiming the scenes.. including the cave where the black witch was born. I will put them up, promise!
What on earth is it about men and their sausages! I went to Tom's to get them tonight, and hubby said, "why did you get Tom's ? I like Greg's much better" Lol, "well tough I like Tom's best" Hubby raises eyebrow...
COMMENTS
lol ... it's all about the size!!
Of course - when I read the first few lines, I thought that you were referring parts of the male anatomy...
HA HA ..yes the bigger the sausage the better it will taste...my moto! I get mine from the butcher, I have a friend who works there.
I took the first step today towards fulfilling my dream... We will see, so I should know more about it tomorrow :) my little home on top of the cliff overlooking the wild Atlantic ocean..I hear you calling me.
COMMENTS
Sounds divine. I'd take the Atlantic for the Pacific any day. Well maybe not 'any' day!! lol
You and your daughter will just have to come visit Steve if we get it :)
Omg, that would be wonderful. x
Wish you the best.
Hope it all went well for you.
Thank-you, and hey if you guys want to come over if I get it then you must come... and especially you VW as I know your camera would go click crazy!
I will never ask anyone to assist again, and especially when there are deadlines to be met! Just so YOU get it.. the CLIENT dictates the pace of work, and if you don't want to make that mark then don't ever offer your help to me again. You get it? The Client comes before having to walk your fuckin dog in the park.
COMMENTS
...unless it's the clients dog of course!!
Hun, you can only truly rely on yourself.
Dam people!! I hope it didn't lose to much money.
I made an impression to the Client.. he didn't. I will get more work from the Client, but he will not ;)
Shame on you. ~Really~ I am truly surprised as I thought you were beyond that kind of behaviour. I guess you are right, you never truly know a person, and the mean side they hide from other people. Particularly online. It's a pity, as peoples respect for you, and what you do.. is just but an illusion. You have proved this in recent days.
COMMENTS
I was a bit surprised myself but eventually ones true colors always surfaces. Just as well, I would rather associate with those that don't hide their true natures no matter what it might be.
Always a problem with online relationships and friendships of any kind.
Yea, I had difficulty believing it before, until I seen it today with my own eyes. Yea, friends online is a difficult thing :( I had the greatest admiration for the person involved too, and that saddens me deeply.
I always attempt to hide my mean side from people online and in real life.. It has taken me years to control my hate, madness and anger. Every now and then I slip...
*Sighs* The guilt/conscience afterwards is mind blowing. : (
Why Mr. Ban I swear your horns just grew longer!
Monday morning.. and two clients cancel their appointment today. Great! it's easy money as they received their letter of appointment confirming if they cancelled their audit within 10 days of audit date they would be liable for the full audit cost. I wish all my clients would cancel, and then I would get paid for doing nothing!
Not to be outdone.. I always have a back-up plan, so I doubled up on today's takings. * smart cookie look* Man, the traffic near bored me to death on the way home though but the day was worth it. :)
COMMENTS
Smart cookie indeed ;)
I love it when a plan comes together.
I cried today in utter disbelief that finally hubby consented to one of the biggest life changing things I could ever of hoped for! He has agreed to sell our home here to purchase another which my heart has desired for the past ten years :) It just was never for sale before.. and when I drove by yesterday I could not believe it had a for sale sign on it! I have been shaking inside ever since because I have never, ever wanted something so bad.
It is a beautiful 17th century home, on top of the cliffs overlooking the ocean and in the grounds of a castle. I can only pray, dream and hope things go the way we want.
In saying that.. the sun has just come out here in Ireland after being missing all summer.
COMMENTS
I forgot to add.. I have wrote a story based on this castle, and poetry in the past with this property in mind :) If we are so lucky to get it, it is my last home ever.. I would never want to leave until the day I die.
Wow that's really good....and you can get to do ghost hunting..
I hope you get it, it really will be a dream come true.
Oh My Goddess, its sounds beautiful ...... lucky I would love to have something Like that.
It sounds just like a beautiful dream! And it is unfolding before your very eyes.I am wish, wish, wishing everything will go thorough for you on this.
LOL if anybody could have the luck of the Irish, its YOU baby!
That is too cool! I am happy for you :-)
Thanks all... I feel like Dorothy on the yellow brick road.. maybe if I can find my red shoes to click together, and I can dream like her it will happen :) There is nothing else I could wish for.. there is nothing else I could wish for...
OMG! That house seems like something out of a fairytale! I hope that you get it!
(And um...can I come visit one day)?
Wow Pam, how exciting for you! It sounds like a dream come true for sure, I so hope everything turns out :)
