I think the best film clinched the Oscars last night. The King's Speech was an overwhelming success and Colin Firth, and a roll call of other British actors portrayed this important piece of history with so much sentiment it tugged at the heartstrings. The Director Tom Hooper really did an excellent job and thoroughly deserved his Oscar :)
There were a whole array of excellent films to choose from this year, but the, "Kings Speech" was a notch above all others. Colin Firth, really was incredible in his role of George VI.
We had a fabulous time at my nieces birthday party last light.. Never did chicken with peppersauce taste so good! Maybe that was because it had a wee bit of Irish whisky in it! Oh, yea.. My back seems to improving after Friday's silly episode.
After standing teaching all day, I am back in the crutches again :( I am so stupid, as I never thought it through. I should of known better that standing for seven plus hours would of had that effect on my muscles and pelvis. So, dissapointed as I was hoping after seeing the chiropracter tomorrow he would let me resume some activities down at the gym again. *sniff*

I'm sorry hun :(
Thanks for the good wishes.. Much improved now, and i even made it down to the gym for stretches yesterday!

I do always wonder what has become of the folk who have disappeared off my friends list...hoping that they are all ok somewhere :P
I miss a lot of people- maybe not founding members, but members that were here in the beginning, and others at least *long* before most: Renshai, Stormwind, FelixFelix... people that impressed me- and were not to be here for the long haul. At least these guys haven't deleted- maybe they'll sign in again ;)
Yea, I can't believe it has been five years since I spoke to Taymos! he was a darling! I wasn't so familiar with the people you are talking about it with the exception of Stormwind, but I did see them around later in time. Anyway, mostly all the foundling members still have their accounts which is pretty amazing, so as you say maybe they will log in again some day :) and get re-addicted
Yeah, Renshai joined when I did- over 5 years ago. He was pretty active for a while, then not anymore. FelixFelix was just a rockin' guy with humor, intellect, and talent... not easy to find them around here. That's why the few stick out like stars.
Yea, every VR generation peer group had their stars :) Remembering back to when there was three members.. the foundling father, dan and myself it is amazing how the place has developed and attracted so many members over seven years. You, certaintly have made major contribution to its success :) One year for each house coming up.. heh
For some who do know me you will know my love for good and classical poetry... but I don't think I have talked about books I have enjoyed reading, so here is a few that I can recommend :)
The Selfish Gene, Consillence, The Blank Slate, The Ancestor's Tale, Invitation to a Beheading, The Histories of Herodotus, (as a study) The Sailor who Fell from Grace to the Sea, Donar Flor and Her Two Husbands, Jane Eyre.. and so the list goes on.
Some of my favourite quotes besides the one on my profile are:
Democracy is the means by which we periodically depose our dictators (very relevant right now heh)
Beware the man that whistles no tune
Probable impossibilities are to be preferred to improbable possibilities - Aristotle
Prediction is difficult, especially regarding the future - Niels Bohr
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work - Thomas A. Edison (and it was this quote that gave me the push to succeed in biz)
Well dam..what a day it turned out to be. After seeing a couple of clients tnis morning i went to visit Mum, who in turn didnt want me to go visit Dad. Of course i went to see him anyway despite that ..but when i did he got cross because i visited Mum first! Scratches head in wonder... Parents!
Then to wind the day up i was told my pelvis is also out of alignment. Sighs.. I dont think i will get out bed tomorrow.
Things are dandy.. only two more weeks to go in crutches :) Hope to get back to the gym after that but only allowed to do stretching excerise like yoga to start with. I really, really, really miss working out.. it has been a part of my life for too long to ever let go of it. Now, I have to start all over again with weights.. whenever I get back to it :(
No use whining.. at least I know I haven't broke my back because the x-rays say so :)

Great news, things can only get better :-)
You must be going nuts! Get better soon hun :)
We have a thread in our house discussing societies here in Vampire rave and in particular umbrae octo. Well, it has just occured to me that maybe there should be some kind of accolade made like a yearly award for the society of the year, as some of the societies really do make a big effort and sacrifice of their own time in putting together a quality society for members to be a part of. This effort alone makes vampire rave a better and stronger social networking site.

Nice idea but I think it would be impossible to monitor.
Aye, well it is just a suggestion that I think contribution deserves reward particularly if the work done enhances the place.. never mind, maybe it just applies to reality :)
I had electrical therapy on my back yesterday by a Chiropracter and man did that do that job! I know I am going to better next week now! :) Here is a little bit about it, to all those people who suffer from chronic or acute back pain, sciata, back nerve endings, temporary or permanent back pain. AND the darn thing about this.. is it doesn't hurt to get the treatment nor is it rough on discs, spine, or muscles. Over where I live it is not available on the national health service so you must pay for it privately but if you have health insurance in the USA then you would qualify without having to pay extra.
On Tuesday I see the other chiropracter.. the one that snaps the bones back into place *ouch* he has already completed my hip joint, just the mid-back and neck to do now!
Electric Muscle Stimulation Therapy Chiropractic Treatment and Pain Management Dec 17, 2009 Erin McLaughlin
Chiropractic Treatment - Michael Dorausch Muscle stimulators can sound intimidating to new and even seasoned visitors to a chiropractic office, but the reality of this therapy is much less frightening.
When dealing with acute, subacute and chronic pain, electrical stimulation is not the first solution that comes to mind for many sufferers. Instead, it is very common for people to ignore reoccurring back, neck, and joint discomfort for years and temporarily alleviate symptoms with analgesic medications without seeing a chiropractor.
Studies of analgesic medications reveal that these drugs do lessen the pain but they do not treat the source of the problem. Over time as the body develops a tolerance to painkillers, higher doses are required for relief. This means more physical dependence on medication, more side effects, and more toxins that the body has to combat as it tries to heal itself.
What is EMS and What Can it Do? Electric muscle stimulation mimics the body's nervous system by sending safe, low frequency electrical pulses to the affected area, causing the muscle to contract and increasing temperature and blood circulation. The same natural process of the body to repair injuries works with EMS to relieve other common nervous system disorders, including constant headaches, numbness of limbs, and back pain.

I'm thrilled you've found something that actually helps without hurting. Over here that treatment is usually given in physical therapy. Especially for joint injuries like knees. It's amazing how painfree it is but it really helps. :)
You will rarely find a good chiropracter on the NHS, so you did well in finding one that you're happy with. Wishing you happy snapping's.
I am dreading it, I know I will not sleep tomorrow night before i see him!
Hilary Clinton - pre wikileaks: -
Some countries have erected electronic barriers that prevent their people from accessing portions of the world’s networks. They’ve expunged words, names, and phrases from search engine results. They have violated the privacy of citizens who engage in non-violent political speech. These actions contravene the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, which tells us that all people have the right “to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” With the spread of these restrictive practices, a new information curtain is descending across much of the world. And beyond this partition, viral videos and blog posts are becoming the samizdat of our day. As in the dictatorships of the past, governments are targeting independent thinkers who use these tools.
Thanks to those who dropped a mail. Mum is out of hospital now, and I am walking again using crutches. Most of my days now are spent in bed recovering but i read quenching up all the knowledge I need to make things succeed. Their representatives will be over from Sweden in about a month. A lot of ground to cover, but damn not being mobile at this time doesnt help.

Great film, and I'm also glad best actress went to Natalie Portman in Black Swan, another goodie.
