Okay, so Mum wasn't able to travel and she has no mobility at the moment so I was left holding the ticket to Europe. I decided I didn't wish to be alone on a trip I was only going on because of Mum so I cancelled the ticket and seen my insurance brokers. There should be no issue getting a refund under the circumstances.

So, hubby is taking me to Dublin instead. We should be leaving sometime today when he comes back from the restaurants.

Hotel is booked and my bag is packed, and I'm ready to go out the door at four :)

I have friends who are enemies of each other. That don't bother me but it doesn't mean I can't show my caring side for both of them. What I don't do is get involved in their affairs, that's strictly between them.

Gee, Mum booked a holiday for me as her carer on Friday but now she has hurt herself and is unable to go. If anyone is interested in a cheapie cruise ticket leaving Barcelona on Sunday one week, please get in touch with me. It is on the Norwegian Epic, and it is for a single cabin, which I am sure could be upgraded to double if anyone is interested.

I will still be going, as I have no way out of the deal unless someone wants to buy my ticket also!

Okay, men ..do you sit, or stand? Lets take a vote on this lol.

Taiwan minister says men should sit down to urinate

Sitting on the toilet promotes a cleaner environment, the minister says.

A Taiwanese minister has caused widespread debate on hygiene by suggesting that men should sit down while urinating instead of standing up. Stephen Shen, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) minister, said that sitting on the toilet like women do creates a cleaner environment. This has generated a lot of online debate, says the BBC's Cindy Sui.

Officials are to ask local governments this week to put up notices in public places advising men to sit. While many women in social media websites favour the suggestion, a lot of men say it would be hard to stop doing what they are used to, our correspondent in Taipei adds. But EPA officials insist that it can be done."We want to learn from Japan and Sweden," said Yuan Shaw-jing, EPA director general of environmental santitation and toxic substance maintenance."In Japan, we heard 30% of the men sit," he added.Inspectors regularly grade Taiwan's estimated 100,000 public toilets, with most of receiving high marks. But EPA officials say there is room for improvement, as some toilets are still smelly because of urine spatter. While the agency said that it cannot force men to change their habits, it will ask local governments this week to put notices in public toilets with the suggestion.

As for Mr Shen, the EPA confirmed that he himself practices what he suggests - at home and while using public toilets.

I don't care either way, as long as male and females who use the loo close the toilet lid after use. This stops the flow of bacterial flora in the air when flushing, and keeps bacteria where it belongs. In the water closet. I thought it funny that people actually have thought about whether men should stand of sit though.

Isis101

I think that we should try it here. Let men sit in their own piss for a change.

Lol Isis! I steer away from public unisex loo's although I hear under the Discrimination Act they are discriminating by providing men's, ladies, and disabled facilities instead of one for all. So, watch out at the airports!

VRsZombie

I always check the toilet before I sit. If you sit in someone's urine, it's your own fault.

To me, this is taking the idea of being sanitary too far.

People (men AND women) need to take more responsibility for cleaning up after themselves. This isn't just men...How many bloody tampons are just thrown on the floor in public restrooms???

Isis101

I guess that I should have mentioned that after sitting in piss as a kid ONCE, I rarely used public restrooms. (And if I do, I use several toilet seat covers). Women are sometimes nastier than men too, by the way...lol.

Hi, spent all morning of the bank holiday in hospital with Mummy. She will be okay, I hope. They (social workers and the doctor) wanted to put her into care today but I refused, and so did my sister. Now my sister and I have to take it in turns to nurse her well. I am meant to be going away for a week or so on Friday with Mum. Holiday has been booked and paid for a while back. I told her today I would get a wheelchair and push her everywhere, so we will see what happens. There is a hospital on the ship.

My mother, the one who gave me life.. will never go into care whilst I can stand on two legs.

I don't know about where you live but here in the US we have programs that can assist in home care. We have nurses, social workers, etc. that come to the home. One of those services is respite care - or a sitter if you need to run errands or to give the caretaker a break.

Perhaps there is something like this there...if you are interested. In either case, my thoughts are with you and your sister.

The European Union comissioners have announced that Agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as EuroEnglish (Euro for short). In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Afterthought on my previous journal entry. What would you do with your cash if you had a massive win on the lottery? I would do quite a few things..

1. Buy my disabled sister a new home and take her on a well deserved holiday.

2. Take all of my family on a world cruise.

3. Build a crèche for the local children in my area.

4. Build an elderly care centre that is fitting and modern to those that live there.

5. Excavate and build an indoor swimming pool at my home.

6. Re-model my bedroom, and the kitchen.

7. Review other needs of my family

8. Donate monies to the local branch of Breathe Easy,( British Lung Foundation) the branch I founded as Chairperson.

9. Then if there is any money left, spend at will! and go visit some folk abroad :)

Depending on the size of the win I think most of mine would be given away. It's not that I wouldn't appreciate it it's just that money can't buy health and that's where I lack these days. So my daughter, close friends and various charieties would benefit big time.

Incidently, it's back to work for me tomorrow as I didn't even have one number this week!

(I just typed a ton of stuff, and my cat Whiskers rolled over the escape button...good grief)!

Anyway, assuming that the lottery winnings are in the high millions, as I live in an expensive state - lol:

* Pay off my sisters' houses and give them money

* Buy back my moms' house that was lost due to a predatory loan (She lives in a condo that's paid off though, thank God). Give my mom money too

* Buy/build the loft of my dreams, complete with an art studio, design/sewing room, wine cellar, and a pet den

* Donate a ton of money to my fave charities - The Humane Society, The ASPCA, Habitat for Humanity, UNICEF, The World Wildlife Defense Fund - you get the idea

* Create a scholarship for smart underpriviledged students, regardless of ethnicity. The winners would be one boy and one girl per year

* Help establish small parks throughout many cities/towns in the area

* Shop for exclusive designer garb, buy a few art pieces

* Get 'some work done', ie get fat sucked out, three dental implants, and skin laser treatments...lol!

If Virgin's newest aircraft is a success, 'long haul' could take on a whole new meaning. Not only is the SpaceShipTwo possibly the coolest looking thing ever to go into orbit, it's also highly advanced. The 60ft-long spaceship can carry two pilots and six passengers, and is basically an air-launched glider with a rocket motor and a number of extra systems for space flight. In space, it uses small thrusters which allow the pilots to manoeuvre the vehicle and provide a changing view for passengers.

The downside of all that is that tickets cost $200,000 and deposits start from $20,000. You can book the flight via Virgin Galactic website at www.virgingalactic.com

I didn't win this weeks lottery, but maybe you did!

I leave my car in to get the reversing censors fitted today as it seems every car I have had, I do manage to reverse into things! This will put a stop to it. Hubby now drives the big car, and I got a wee Peugot 208 that manages 70 miles to the gallon. It's the smallest car I have driven in years that I can remember, but I resent paying so much for my fuel.

I make my contribution to life systems in many ways. I hold down a demanding full time job and assist others in my professional capacities often putting a lot of my own personal time in helping their needs. I look after my ageing mother and me, well I thank God my father has remarried and has a wife able to look after his needs also. Looking after my mother means not only ensuring she eats properly, but that adequate time is spent on her healthcare and also in giving her a quality of life that she deserves as the mother who has given birth to me.

I pay taxes to the government so that it may be used in providing for others less fortunate than me to get assistance with their day-to-day living, and contribute to the chancellor’s purse on a weekly basis for the betterment of the country. I don’t complain but sometimes I get so fed up with always giving, giving, giving that I want to scream. On top of all this, I cook, I clean my home, I do our laundry, and look after my husband in my role as homemaker. I keep everyone happy, the list is endless…

I have people depending on me. Their livelihood depends on my performance and I am working endlessly to please other people which are probably the reasons why I am successful, well thought of my in my local and professional communities, and can hold down all the things I do.

On top of all of that, I try to do it all with a smile on my face despite my illness, and now this twisted pelvis and spine alignment is just aggravating and adding to my medical condition. Life has to go on. Sighs, chiropractor again tomorrow night.

I don't do it myself but I always tell others not to be selfish when they need care or have health problems and that they should take the time to sort it out. The thing is that unless you are operating at your best it's hard to help others even if that means doing your own thing now and again.

You do your share and then some and deserve the praise.

Off on a completely different tangent now.. I guess this poem of friendship brought a tear or two for more reasons than one, and my sweet friend Linda.

I saved this poem she sent me way back..

I thought of you today and I had to smile.

It doesn't seem so long ago

we barely said hello.

These days, we rarely let a day or two

go by without a quick greeting

or a long chat.

But always, it's something.

I wonder how I ever thought you different..

We're not so dissimilar you and I.

We're more alike than we ever realized.

Funny how the tables turn.

You can make me laugh and cheer me up..

you tell it just like it is.

Of course, you don't expect any less from me..

and I think I deliver at least on the 'just like it is' part..

How amazing that we can be so far apart, yet you feel so very close.

I thought of you today and I smiled.

I have saved a considerable amount of messages dated from 2007 and I was just re-reading some of them. Most of them are lovely things friends have said to me, or sent me over the years. Some messages are from 'back then friends' who are friends no longer and I felt a glow inside remembering those times. Special messages, addresses..

Some are also messages of anger and disagreement which on re-read doesnt seem important anymore but at the time were crucial... Makes you wonder , and I can see how others have changed too.

I do use my honour honourably as I think what's the point of giving negative honour and missing out on those who deserve it. I think I'd rather show respect for those who make my VR enjoyable rather than using what few points I have to give to someone I may dislike, or whose actions I may not agree with. What's your criteria?

I don't leave Negative Honor.....

unless the person REALLY pissed off.

Otherwise... I don't waste my honor points on the wastes of space of VR.

Someone was counting recently how many lifetime memberships they have purchased from the prospect of supporting VR, so we established they have bought five. As for me, well.. I have purchased six over the eight year membership in support of VR. All except for this one I have given away as competition gifts, or for the charity auction.. But I am wondering, and I am sure there is.. How many members here have exceeded that six?

A couple people. I don't want to put names out there because I know some like to keep these things private- it's known between those people, and that's as far as they want it to go.

Another person would be a member no longer here. She tried to use all this money spent here as a means to do whatever she wanted. And it eventually caught up to her. As it's happened more than once, this money doesn't not excuse behavior and infinite suspensions still occur- without refunds.

Imagine that! Tut tut, somebody trying to use the purchase of premium memberships for their own benefit! Incredible the scheming some folk do. Yea, the rules of premium membership have been around since the inception of Vampire Rave, but there again, I am not talking about the rules. It is good to know however, that there are still people out supporting the website.

For the one here who wears two faces.

Five months ago the stream did flow,

The lilies bloomed within the sedge,

And we were lingering to and fro,

Where none will track thee in this snow,

Along the stream, beside the hedge.

Ah, Sweet, be free to love and go!

For if I do not hear thy foot,

The frozen river is as mute,

The flowers have dried down to the root:

And why, since these be changed since May,

Shouldst thou change less than they.

And slow, slow as the winter snow

The tears have drifted to mine eyes;

And my poor cheeks, five months ago

Set blushing at thy praises so,

Put paleness on for a disguise.

Ah, Sweet, be free to praise and go!

For if my face is turned too pale,

It was thine oath that first did fail, --

It was thy love proved false and frail, --

And why, since these be changed enow,

Should I change less than thou.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

What a perfect ending to such a beautiful day. We went down to the little pub on the beach..what can I say perfect sighs.. warm, red sunset, wine spiltzers and sand running through my toes. A tingling warmth, and a sense of freedom from a demanding lifestyle while sitting beside the man that I love. :)

After, we called into the chippy and got some real fish n' chips and took them to a friends house so we could share supper and craic together :)

Now it's home to watch the movie, Fracture on telly. Perfect Saturday off :) mmmmm

Mmmm...I love this and its nearly as erotic as Fifty Shades of Grey

Sleep - by Melissa Etheridge

After your laughter like thunder

After your skin like coffee and cream

After it takes our bodies into the night

After we've come to the extreme coffee

I want to lay down on your shoulder

Just inside your arm

I want to listen to your heart beat

And your breathing on and on

I want to lay down on your shoulder

Surrender to your peace

And go to sleep

And when we've gone a million miles

Made true our dreams with sweat and bone

After we've built it up with our bare hands

Made strong a place we can call home

And when the light in my eye is fading

When running water becomes too deep

Finally angels turn my fire to dust

And when my soul's no longer mine to keep

I want to lay down on your shoulder

Just inside your arm

I want to listen to your heartbeat

And your breathing on and on

I want to lay down on your shoulder

Surrender to the peace

And

just go to sleep

Without looking it up does anyone the author of this stirring poem?

Arise my body, my small body, we have striven

Enough, and He is merciful; we are forgiven.

Arise small body, puppet-like and pale, and go,

White as the bed-clothes into bed, and cold as snow,

Undress with small, cold fingers and put out the light,

And be alone, hush'd mortal, in the sacred night,

-A meadow whipt flat with the rain, a cup

Emptied and clean, a garment washed and folded up,

Faded in colour, thinned almost to raggedness

By dirt and by the washing of that dirtiness.

Be not too quickly warm again. Lie cold; consent

To weariness' and pardon's watery element.

Drink up the bitter water, breathe the chilly death;

Soon enough comes the riot of our blood and breath.
