A (meta)human turns to a vampire when (s)he is infected with the HMHVV (Human, Meta-Human Vampiric Virus). It is commonly thought that once a (Meta)human is bitten by a vampire, (s)he turns into a vampire. That viewpoint is wrong. A vampire is created when the so called "victim" has been drained of most of his/her blood, and then (s)he drinks the vampire's blood. This lets the virus inside the vampire's blood infect the (meta)human and the changes begin. The first signs of infection appear about 2 to 3 days. The first signs are heavy fatigue, inextenguishable thirst and hunger, and excrutiating pain in the abdomin, neck, and legs. Sensitivity to bright lights begins about a week after infection. A few days later, the "kanines" of the infecter person fall out, and within a few days, new, sharper teeth begin to grow in. It takes about 1 week for the teeth to grow in fully, and about 5 to 6 days to learn to retract the teeth. About a month after infection, the transition is complete.



The origin of HMHVV is unknown to the scientific community, but their true origins are known by many of the elder vampires. The origin begins in the Bible. Caine killed his brother Able, and was banished to wander the "Land of Nod." What is not written is that he was punished also with the gift of immortality. He soon found out that although eh could not die, he had hunger and thirst that could only be quenched by the blood of another. It took him nearly 1,000 years to learn that he could infect others with his punishment, and he infected people that deserved the worst punishment immaginable, eternal life. These were the first vampires. At first, they took the punishment as a gift, but soon they realised that the sun would cause excrutiating pain, and prolonged exposure would cause death, unlike with Caine, who could bask in the sunlight. They, unlike Caine could starve to death, if they did not feed on others. During the early 9th century, a short period of awakening arrose. Caine was trapped inside a cavern by magicians who thought that he was sent by demons. After the awakening dissapeared, the spell which trapped Caine in the undergraound caverns remained, until the next awakening in the 21st century. Now Caine has escaped, and began infecting a few people, but 10 years after the awakening, he went into hiding, and has quit spreading the virus directly, but it is rumored that he has infected a dragon, and a few others to create a small army of followers. His motives are unknown though.
