Tomorrow is Dad's open heart surgery. We are all going in together at 5:45 to be there by 6:15. They'll prep him and have him ready for the surgery *hopefully* by 8. It will be done about 3 - 3 1/2 hours later.

Please, send out positive thoughts for the medical staff, my family, and of course my dad.

I think the thing that really makes me mad about Chason's death is ...

He wasn't killed in an accident.

He wasn't killed saving someone's life.



He was killed out of hate and rage. Someone that got mad at him for his Christian beliefs.



The guy that killed him got in a religious argument with Chason and LEFT THE SCENE and came back with the knife and stabbed him 16 times. The guy could have stayed away and cooled down and called it good. But he didn't!



So now, because of this asshole's decision, Chason will never grow up to have a family. His 8 year old sister, Avery, doesn't understand why her big brother isn't coming home. His dad, one of the strongest people, emotionally, is completely torn up.



There was close to 400 people at his funeral, from what I understand. I believe it. The funeral home was packed full of sobbing people.



This is a missed young man.

It breaks my heart to know that his life ended because he expressed his beliefs.

Dear Ms. *****,



I went to your mediation this morning, and I received some very

interesting information from the defense attorney. Apparently Scarlet

Price has been convicted of theft, passing bad checks, and financial

card fraud. She has also been charged with identity theft, although

this case is currently pending. She didn't provide me with specifics

for any of these charges, but I am going to try and track them down.

Apparently Scarlet Price also has numerous aliases including Scarlet

Hayes, Scarlet Lancaster, and Scarlet Hunter.



The defense attorney has ordered some of your old medical records, and

she said they will have a decision on medical care as soon as the

records come in (she estimates 1 to 2 weeks.) It did sound like they

aren't being nearly as hard-line in opposing the case, probably because

they figure Scarlet Price will make a less than credible witness. I

will keep you posted and let you know as soon as I hear more.

Chason Alan Pennington, 19 of Lee’s Summit, MO was born January 19th, 1991. Chason passed away May 1st, 2010. Services will be at 10 am, Sat., May 8, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to The Compassionate Friends of Kansas City, 1080 Washington, K.C. MO 64105-2216.

Chason was a 2009 graduate of Lee’s Summit North High School and was attending Longview Community College. Chase will be remembered for his big heart, infectious smile, and how he loved to make people laugh. His passion for adventure included four-wheeling, wake boarding, snowboarding, and camping.

Chase was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, grandfather, and two great aunts. Chase is survived by his loving parents Todd & Shannon Pennington; two sisters Taylor & Avery Pennington; as well as his favorite 4-legged friends, Carter & Brady; all of the home. Also surviving are his great grandmother, Hazel Pennington of Dayton, Ohio; grandparents Cheri Pennington of Kansas City, MO; Jeff & Marilyn Mann of Independence, MO; Robert E. McDowell; uncles & aunts Frank & Tricia Cardello of Independence, MO.; Jeremy Pennington of Kansas City, MO.; and Sean & Stacey McDowell of Independence, MO; Erin McDowell Perez; his best friend Austin Gardner; several cousins and many friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the love, support, and prayers. Chason’s favorite Bible verse is Psalms 23.

Sleepy and Sleepless

Some of this might be a bit repaticious for those that do know me well. Sorry, live with it.



I am a chronic insomniac. I have no control over my sleeping patterns. Infact, I don't have a sleeping pattern, except when I'm working 12 hours a day. I usually, against my will, am up for several days at a time. Quite often this happens. Sometimes I will sleep every day or night, but it's about 3 or 4 hours in a 24 hour time period. Lately, I've gotten nearly zero sleep. Nothing seems to work. I've been prescribed sleep aids and taken over the counter sleep aids. I've tried meditation and warm, soothing teas. Nothing works. Even with sleep aids, I can only get 4 to 6 hours of sleep. It sucks, yes, because I do enjoy sleeping so much. Mainly, I think, because sleep is so elusive for me. Yes, I realize I am not the only person out there with this problem. I felt like bitching and this is my journal, so this is where my bitching is placed, rather than bitch to a person about it.

I have some pretty awesome friends here on VR that I hope are life time friends. I tend to fall heart first into friendships, as those of you that are close with me know. I also hope beyond all hope that these friendships we have formed here will last a lifetime and that we can meet one day soon.



I wrote an entry a few days ago for a certian someone, so I'm writing for another someone. We've been talking for 2 weeksish now and we are so incredibly close! I feel like I've known her my whole life. I love her dearly. She's one of those people that I seriously ask myself, how did I survive without her sarcasm, witty remarks, and brains before we met? No really. I mean it. I've never ever had this many female friends before. I usually clash with others of my gender. But, this individual is wowing me every day. I hope she knows who she is. "Lets get into trouble and make cupcakes" "Where did that come from" "I don't know cause you know, cupcakes are always trouble" She knows now! And I sooo paraphrased that. I've slept since that conversation.

So, stick with me, girl, and you'll have a loyal and loving friend for the rest of your life. I promise you that.

Oh yeah, we have fudge to make too.

Thanks for being an amazing friend in such a short period of time. Let's start knocking back the years of friendship, mmmkay?

Thanks for making me feel like a million bucks tonight.
