skies explode over
tumid landscape
battering sounds coil
in clusters
burst and sheen of crows
home to deep
something raw of this
intangible as corners
gone awry
and a thinning
of the liquid dark
I drive past the edges
hoping outward still exists
and what dwindled
still breathes
She spiraled downward
like a Butterfly without wings
cast from the covenant of old
broken upon the Rainbow
plummeting
this screaming Angel rent
torn from the bosom
of immortality
never to look upon Gods
both old and new
naked and beguiled
now numbered with the tares
no longer a golden grain of wheat
heavens on fire
the igniter cast out
swirling
screaming torments
beauty begat
careening into thorns
blood spews from the shredded wings
each drop forming
a black Rose
adorned with jagged
thorns of betrayal
and deceit
My mirror doesn't smile back
every morning.
It doesn't lie.
The honest piece of glass shows it all.
Bags under eyes swollen with tears.
Cheeks red, stained.
Hands balled into fists,
white knuckles showing through bruised skin.
Why?
Endless nights of torture that seem
to last forever...
and ever.
They grow restless.
He, She, They,
Faceless names pass by in the dark.
Remnants of the painful days,
that have dragged by.
They never end.
The days.
The mirror never lies.
There's a beast stalking me,
Its eyes follow me.
Its fangs gnash at the very air around my head,
Its claws ripping away at my surroundings,
Causing me to bleed in ways I never have before.
I whisper to myself,
"The darkness is coming"
And it engulfs me.
I close my eyes and scream in terror.
Upon reopening them,
I see the sun.
I smile to myself and say,
"What a wonderful dream"...
I'm breathing fine,
I'm not sad,
I'm not bleeding,
Everything's peaceful.
Bright,
White,
As if the early morning sun,
Beams directly down on me.
-
But I open my eyes,
The breath catches in my throat,
Darkness surrounds me,
I'm covered in red,
Nothing is okay.
Pain,
Sorrow,
Wishing for the day,
There is no tomorrow.
Covered in black,
We scream in pain.
The sun is back,
To call our names.
To take us back,
From whence we came.
Covered in black,
We scream in pain.
It takes us back,
To burn in flame.
It takes us back,
To where we came.
We'll be back,
To do it again.
She stood on the bridge
In silence and fear
For the demons of darkness
Had driven her here
They cut her heart
Right out of her chest
Making her believe
That the demons knew best
They were always there
Sometimes just out of sight
Waiting in the background
Till the time was right
These demons were destructive
Knocking down the life she knew
Hating everything about her
She hated herself too
These demons can't be seen
But they're far from fairy tales
They live inside your mind
Their evilness prevails
So on the bridge she stood
About to end the fight
Then she stopped and thought
I'll fight them one more night
