Maybe I should just stick to physics, philosophy, Constitutional Law and leave economics to the guys on TV.
From where I sit it's not the role of the government to bailout people and their bad investments and mishandling.
I don't understand why the tax payer has to get involved with these things.
$25 Billion to the "Big 3" automakers
$85 Billion to AIG who has clients in 170 countries!
$20 Billion to the bloody Royal Bank of Scotland!
What is this? Not only are we more socialist than Canada but, we're trying to bailout banks the world over.
This morning on CNN I heard them saying what a leadership failure and horrible decision it was to vote down this bailout.
I was under the impression that the government had no right to do these things and that the people didn't want it either.
Thats why is was defeated you journalism school rejects.
Finally the Congress did something right! Lets hope they don't loose nerve. This is one thing you can point directly at Ron Paul and blame him and his supporters for a huge part in this victory for the Constitution.

As we know we are facing some very difficult decisions and the Earth is undergoing rapid change.
The main question isn't necessarily "Are humans to blame" but, given the facts, "What are we going to do about it?"
We should be looking at the answers from two perspectives:
1. What are we going to do for the future of humanity.
2. What are we going to do about the future of the planet.
While they are both connected it is possible for us, one day, to not need Earth at all and some time in the future that day will be forced upon us by our very own sun.
This writing is going to examine the causes raised and solutions needed for not only the near future but also the future many centuries from now.
In the end we will have to leave this planet so we must find ways of freeing ourselves from it.
Why should I be writing about this a millennia before hand? Because by examining future ideas and technologies we can adapt them for todays modern problems and hopefully come up with even more efficient, clean and easier solutions for today.

The following are what I consider to be some of the greatest accomplishments in all of human history that benefit everyone. These aren't in any real order.
1. Harnessing of fire
2. Domestication of both crops and animals
3. The wheel
4. Discovery and understanding of zero
5. Western thought
6. The Scientific method
7. Description of gravity
8. General Relativity
9. Splitting the atom
10. Silicone based computer processors
11. Modern medicine
12. Inter/intra-net architecture
13. The discovery of bacteria and related solutions
14. The Magna Carta
15. The US Constitution
16. Space exploration
17. Classic literature and the 3 books of Christianity
18. Steam power
19. Mechanical locomotion
20. The telescope
21. Printing press
21. Electricity
22. The Clock
This is all I can think of at the moment. Remember this is a list of things that have made the greatest mark on human history and development as a whole.
To the "anti-science" people aka half of VR:
You can't pick and choose which projects and experiments are worth doing over the other.
I could say it's not worth coming up with a cure ALS (Lou-Gehrigs) until we find a cure for the Flu, after-all more people die from the flu than ALS each year.
Particle physicists have no idea how to solve global economic problems but they do know how to keep us from going back the way of Neanderthal.
The avg. person has no clue what the LHC is even for and your going to say that after a few weeks of calibration it's not worth doing?
We spend 10x the amount a year on AIDS research alone than we spent on the LHC. I think it's ok for us smash some protons together in hopes of new discovery.
"What good can come from this?" None if the avg. population lets ignorance or personal disagreements get in the way.
In MY opinion questioning research or disagreeing with progress is the same as saying we should stop trying to find a cure for HIV, after all most people who get it did so by some choice they made.
The end times based on weather patterns? We've only kept accurate weather data for a few hundred years. The earth has had weather for around 3 billion years and humans have only been able to see the weather for some 200,000 years.
Having the idea that we can predict the future or say things are getting worse based on our current knowledge is folly.
I have seen a lot of people say that the Earth is overpopulated and that we need to have stronger population control methods. Stop complaining and off yourself..save the Polar Bears!!
The planet can sustain upwards of 12 billion people if we are smart about it.
If humanity as a whole could get off their asses, take responsibility and not be afraid of change or standing up for new technologies then the Earth would be fine.
Besides when did the African Red Breasted Purple Tit Goat become more important than people?
I'm going to write some papers on the future of humanity, global warming, new technologies and a few other things soon. Until then stop acting like a bunch of fools and quit being guilty for having an extra child, buying a new car and shopping at Walmart.

P.S leave comments if you'd like but don't even try to "learn" me anything unless you're being silly. I've been Al Gores home, I know all about fat dudes and extra carbon emissions lol.
Now, I'm no expert but it seems to me that the US federal budget is a little off balance.
Did you know that for each $0.10 in federal revenue we spend $1.20? 9% of all revenue goes to pay just for the inflation.
I wonder how hard it would be for a terminally ill person with a really high IQ to become a citisen of another country? Australia, or the UK...maybe Liechtenstein :)
And you morons voting these mental defects into office. Vote country not party you cows!
COMMENTS
yeah no shit! I'm not voting this election cuz my candidate dropped. But yeah, vote for the person not there label!
Your debt is going to double from around five trillion to over ten trillion because your government thinks that buying up companies that nobody wants is a way out of this financial crisis.
What you have to realize is that that debt has to be paid back.
I understand that the debt has to be paid, as do many Americans. It's our "leadership" that has the issue and could care less if the national debt gets paid off or not.
Of course foreign banks own 42% of all American public debt...WW III won't be with guns but foreclosures and accountants lol.
Vote of no confidence in the USA, knock 'em down and leave it that way....see you got me off topic! lol
*sighs* If only I were old enough to run.
We are just slicing our own throats by electing these morons into office anyways. Come on 8 years of Bush has put us into debt so far past our eyes we cant see straight anymore. It's bad enough we owe China $. I don't know about everyone else, but i vote to skip country like Xzavier & plead to become a citisen elsewhere. Or have our laws changed, oust all the old no good for nothing politicians & start voting in fresher & younger more intelligent blood into office that wants to do what's right for us & not for their own good.
You could claim political asylum and move to the UK and take advantage of NHS! They might mistake your meaning and put YOU in an actual asylum, but I still say go for it.
If a single photon travels parallel (across) to your line of sight can you see it?
Medically speaking our eyes can respond to a single photon, however, our brains will only consciously process sight when 9 or more photons arrive within 100ms. This, of course, was not the question.
If a single photon crosses parallel to your line of sight can you see it?
The short answer is no. How is it not possible to see the "essence" of light? Because light travels according to cones and without a photon hitting your retina you won't see it. Photons do not beget photons.
This does raise the question, is light a beam or a wave? The short answer, both.
I still find it difficult to understand the answer to the first question, it is however 4:25 AM.

Ohhh boi, dont even get me started this morning..time for bedybi..but I will be back for this one.;)
with the ability to slow time it may be possible hehe...*pokes*
easier to speed up one person than slow down the whole thing.
Will someone PLEASE help me put Professor X in his laboratory before he drives ME mad with his madness! Y'all don't know what it's like to have a friend with Hawking-esque OCDs... You. all. just. don't. know. *sighs and looks for my lab assistant coat and sedatives*
In the essence of the amusement of debate. For normal brain activity to be able to recognize the energy pattern of a single change in stimulus, with the entirety of stimuli presented then no one small change is overlooked. To see a single change requires a system that is more hardwired and overly sensitive to the very changes in the environment around them. It is indeed both a beam and a wave. With it's own wave length and frequency to be interpreted in its own accord. ~smiles~ for the most part sweet prince I like this topic and it is indeed well written. figured I would read it as I said I would and add my two sense.
--As for Xzavier’s post regarding the possible halt of experiments, & further exploration into all fields of science, that is just pure madness as it’s a well known fact that as a species you either evolve or die.--
You're right, it's well known. It's also well known having unprotected sex causes AIDS which is why Africa is going away, it's well known that total democracy is evil which is why the US is falling apart, it's well known that we landed on the moon which is why there have been government investigations into it, it's well known that medicine is good for you which is why entire religions would rather let themselves die then have a blood transfusion or let their newborn die instead of giving it antibiotics.
As a race, humanity is the dumbest pile of organic goo this planet has seen.
It's human nature to "know" things but not do a damn about it until the individual is inconvenienced.
The controversy surrounding the LHC proves that the general population should be left in the dark. An individual can be a genius, the group is a frightened gibbon.
Yes I would like to think that "we shall overcome" and one day humanity will rise above all challenges, I also think that dreaming through rose coloured lenses is more damaging than any weapon.

The truth is that we're so overwhelmed with our self-proclaimed intelligence that we've forgotten that it's not something we share. What we share is the intelligence of a handful of very remarkable humans. The rest of us are just riding around on their shoulders. When I have difficulty even hoping to learning what others have discovered for themselves, how can I be called "intelligent"?
im sorry but are you forgetting that the democratic "evil" is what allows you to speak your mind in this country?.....may i suggest a civics course to remind you that this little experiment we call america brought to us by the founding fathers of this great country, may in fact be the reason people are jaded today as a result of all the freedoms we take for granted, but never forget there are people in other countries who have it far worse than us and cant say in public that they dissagree with their leader or the government...through time we may have lost the spirit of what it means to be an american because of bad leaders like bush or certain injustices done by our government, but make no mistake democracy in its soul is not evil , the power that comes from its freedom may corrupt some , but at the core its most sacred and dare i say holy.
ATW, you've really let me down. First I've been in politics for years and teach Constitutional law. I think I'll pass on the civics course.
The United States is a Constitutional Republic with a democratic tradition. A democratic tradition is not democracy but the ideal of personal freedoms. The Republic is what allows me the right to speak my mind and you yours. If democracy was allowed to flourish then any and all law could be changed and rights revoked at the whim of 1%.
Democracy gives rights. Republics state that rights are not given but are inherent and since governments can not give rights they also can not take them away. Hitler, Stalin..all were elected democratically.
*ogles*
i'd jump in, but i'm too tired and crampy to sound like anything more than a PMS'ing fool right now.
but definitely food for thought.....
*cheers* Well said Xzavier!
I didn't know the US was a democracy. All this time I could have sworn we were a Republic.
Guess that goes to prove my point that when a population becomes lazy and complacent the nation goes out the window.
Heres a great idea:
Lets use tax money to bail out billion dollar corporations and make the final jump to socialism. Yay for Hitler!
Vote for me!
COMMENTS
The USA is a Federal republic that operates on the principles of constitutional democracy.
Oh hush I was trying to make a point :P lol
A nation which operates as a near total democracy (regardless of foundation or law) will always fail.
i KNOW!
sigh...seems like both are preaching some sort of socialistic bent.
whether it's pork barrel politics, or income redistribution....
my head is spinning....
I know X, I was just poking at you...but I agree and anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't deserve their privy American lifestyle. The US a "true" democracy? Right....let me know the next time 280 million people show up at your DUI trial. People are nitwits, X.
Let's say it together, "I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the ______________ for which it stands."
Speaking of that, have you ever heard Red Skelton's piece on the Pledge? It should be mandatory. Give it a click: Red Skelton and the Pledge
One minor edit; "... and to the republic for which it stood."
A democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.
Liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the vote.
the US although I love it, is totally screwed! Free speech? My ass! Tell that to Cat Stevens who isn't allowed back into the US because he said G. Bush is a terrible president and compared him to a Nazi. LOL. And besides....some aspects of socialism are indeed very good.
Oh bang me with a rubber ballot! You realize your phones are now being tapped! lol Please, whatever you do -- don't tell anyone you know me! I'm already on the run for toilet-papering Jeb Bush's house... That, and cutting the heels off of all of Imelde DeMarcos' shoes...
The great and powerful Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban makes insightful comment:
"If Obama can “Ron Paul” McCain before McCain does it to him, he could see a change"
Oh and lets not forget professor Matt Damon:
"It's like a really bad Disney movie, "The Hockey Mom.' Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president," said Damon. "She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd."
I am an elitist, I'm all for billionaires making statements and hot rich actors being "activists" but at least use your brains people! Oh, wait, the two of you don't have any.
COMMENTS
if it was up to you paris hilton would be our president lol
oh dear gods no! i would go to my room & hang myself lol
Matt Damon sucked before he said that and he is now a sucky idiot after saying it. And don't forget the part where he has to know if she believes in dinosaurs.
Obama can't do anything without his teleprompter. Can a person run a country with a teleprompter?
I'm sorry but "demonlovesyou" is an absolute idiot!
There, I had to say it or else I was going to explode.....and yes I know it's rather hypocritical of me but I don't care.
Why is he an idiot? Not because of his gross misuse of the English language or his contradictory statements but because he is just completely stupid.
We're building cities 2.5mi under the Earth? Antimatter is everywhere? The LHC is a government threat? Geez stop breathing!
Next topic--
The Higgs Boson is NOT a freaking "god particle!" It's own expected mass is greater than the mass of the particles it's supposed to "give" mass too. Not to mention theres NO proof of it at all nor any adequate theories. Hell even their (ppl who came up with it) own equations don't balance out.
Even Hawkings (the guy I hate and the most intelligent person on the planet) agrees with me that it doesn't exist.
If you know anything about physics or even elementary math you should understand the "god particle" a presented and expected doesn't and can't exist.
OMG am I going insane!?
Heck, first generation string theory made more sense than this idiotic idea and it's been proven wrong a thousand times.

oh....and if it makes you feel any better, my IQ sits around 180 also.
i just "stink" at math, or i would've taken close to the same route as you.....Chemistry or Medicine....
i tell people that i'm not "smart"....just a SMARTASS.
^^
I ofteny think that about some people here....comon ...ofteny...I just love that word and he invented it...made my day anyhow. lol
Calm down..itll be ok.

So it seems those evil scientists are going to destroy the world. How are they going to do it? With the largest experiment in history the Large Hadron Collider.
"There going to make another Big Bang!"
Well first of all to make a big bang you need all the matter in the universe. Second, if you want to know the truth, we still don't know "what" the BB was, what made it go bang, what formed it or what happened before it. The only thing we know is what happened AFTER.
"A black hole will eat my babies!"
If you think the LHC is going to create a black hole capable of escaping then you deserve to have your babies eaten.
The probability of actually creating a black hole via proton collision capable of lasting longer than a few millionths of a second is about the same probability that YOU will be hit by lightning before noon tomorrow and be a sunny day whilst holding a plastic spoon.
I understand that people get scared when they don't fully understand whats going on what I don't understand is people getting violent, or spouting off things when they don't have a clue whats going on.
There are a few people on VR who keep making doomsday claims and I truly feel they deserve to hit by a car, I'm serious.
Of course the news reports aren't making things easier. I'm not anywhere near connected to this project and even I have been getting emails and calls from people worried to death because Fox said it could end the world.
To Fox, Doomsayers, Hollow Earth People and others:
You're all twits!
COMMENTS
Sighh...yeh
Couldn't have said it better myself.
You silly boy, they meant a scientific orgy. You read the post wrong -- you must be drunk to the gills and seeing visions of purple bunnies to break the code. They are not twits. They just ride the special bus to school.
Sarah Palin may not make the best VP for McCain.
Now I'm all for independent women and all that jazz but she does have a young child with Down Syndrome and now her 17yo unmarried daughter is 5 months pregnant.
It's going to be tough being the VP of the United States and taking care of her family. I'd rather she stick with being Gov. and help keep her family together than be focused on politics.
Realistically, no matter how strong a person you are you can't be a good parent and political dynamo in these types of situations.
Just my opinion.
COMMENTS
McCain isn't the best pick for president either. He'd fit more into the role of a baseball coach.
And of course the press will hound her to death about her family issues.
From what I've gathered, she is McCains answer to "oh no, black man! You are NOT taking my office!" She is meant as a mere distraction... Remember she and Obama going back and forth for a spell, which was a brilliant political tactic by the "Pubs". Though, I must admit, these holders of office turn out mostly to be nothing more than little marionettes that are beholden to the multitude of "supporters" that helped them into office.
Now that I think about it, I am insulted that she was chosen as an "equalizer" for Obama -- it implies that a single mother with more baggage than American Airlines covers the lack of black on the "Pub" ticket. Hmph.
*grin*
And what of men that do it? Horrible fathers, are they? Hmm, might be, might not. Ask Bush's daughter. He has been in office 2 terms.
The fact that she has a down kid and preg 17 year old makes her more like the rest of us.......issues. haha.....that is appealing to us regular women folk. A strong woman that cares about others and has regular family issues like us. I like that. Less pretention.
