I just watched a movie called "the strangers" and all I can say is that modern film makers totally blow. Seriously folks, the past several years have been nothing but a line of movies with no depth, clone and overused plots, filled with actors who either over/under do it or are completely mismatched. They lack pretty much everything desired in a good piece of film.

Perhaps twice a year I see something (out of the hundreds made) that I may have an interest in seeing but, more times than not, they all completely FAIL.



Hollywood needs to fall of the continent.

Stop giving these mental voids money.

According to the US Dept. of Energy we consume approx. 20.68 million barrels of crude petrol a day.



We have approx. 21,317,000,000 barrels of oil in proven petrol reserves. If you include the 700 million barrels in our strategic reserves, should the US only rely on it's own supply, we would have enough oil for only 2.9 years or a little under 35 months.



Even if we could could rely solely on our oil right now with no imports from other nations by 2012 we would be out of oil and would have to go right back to getting oil from the Middle East and other regions.



It would take about 10 years for us to, realistically, begin to "turn on" more oil platforms, refineries etc so that it makes a difference in the price of oil here. At our current production rate of 5.01 million barrels a day in 10 years we would only have enough oil to produce for an extra 1.9 years, the catch..1.9 years of current production rates making any new facilities pretty much useless.

i dont know any FIGURES ....

but i do know that my Dad spent two years in Alaska, when i was younger, working on that damn pipeline, 2 years of time with my dad that i wont get back ... and where is all THAT crude going?? Japan .. because thier sulfur allowance is higher, and for what ever EFFED up reason .. no one will build a refinery in this country that can "clean up" our Alaska Crude, to make it meet our standards ..



and i also know that the Alaskain Oil wouldnt "solve" our problem, but it would go along way towards helping ..



and sorry lol thats just a particular peeve of mine lol

I have been involved in politics since my early teens. I've been an adviser to a presidential campaign and volunteered for another. I helped an unknown reach 3rd place (out of 9) in Tennessee's last governors race, spending only a few thousand dollars where the others spent millions. Through out the years I have traveled thousands of miles and met thousands of people.



From that two things became very clear. One, that America as a nation and as a Constitutional Republic made up of 50 sovereign States has a great deal of problems along with a great many strengths. The second thing I learned is that the American people have one major flaw and that is their inability to uphold the very foundations of our country.



At the start of the Revolutionary War only 12% of the population supported the idea of a free America. Today only a slightly larger percentage of people support equal rights for all Americans.



As civil rights movements go the struggle for equal rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people (GLBT) has been a relatively peaceful one. Harvey Milk is one example of those who fought peacefully but died at the hands of an individual, and society, that couldn't bare the thought of gays being afforded the same nation as their straight counterparts have.



Through out history being a homosexual was considered to be a perfectly fine lifestyle, in fact, for most of world history there wasn't even a term for homosexual. In Greece and Rome if you were a good citisen you had male lovers and even today several indigenous tribes engage in homosexual activities to become a "man" in their society. It has only been in the past few hundred years that being GLBT became not only taboo but an affront to God and human nature.



It's fairly easy to belong to social websites such as this and think that the majority of people are fine, truly, with gays and lesbians. We elect a black president and swear that it's Fox News and the Church alone keeping GLBT persons suppressed. Sadly the truth is far from that. Yes, there are mainstream media and religious groups who are opposed to GLBT equal rights but the real problem comes down to you. The individual who only pretends to be "enlightened" yet who's heart hides a secret. A secret that allows them to embrace hypocrisy, bigotry and supports a society that allows thousands of young GLBT people to commit suicide each year.



The "Homosexual Agenda" is not out to have more rights, nor to have special treatment. The only thing that we as a group want is equal rights, the same ones that you have.



As a Christian gay man it hurts me to know that in reality so many people who claim to be decent and good actually have a heart of a sickening nature. As an American citisen it disgusts me to know how many have no real understanding or respect for our founding, our history of struggle or of the promise that America is supposed to defend.



From time to time I find myself looking at the world through rose coloured glasses and have my hopes falsely raised. Thinking that perhaps all we have gone through might have brought us victory. That feeling never lasts for long.



It's hard for me to really understand how a society and population that is always screaming about human rights violations overseas, that preaches equality, that demands the rule of law can be consumed with hate, hypocrisy and self-centeredness as a majority.



The only way for this to stop is for those who support justice, understands the need for our (all of us) civil rights and who wishes a better country for the future to rise up. To take injustice by the throat and remove it from our fair land. The only way for GLBT people to have a decent life, to not have to deal with the problems of vast intolerance and overwhelming obstacles is for them to make their voices heard.

No one wants to go through the trials of "coming out" but the only way to help future generations from having to endure such pain is for those who have not come out yet, who have not been truthful with themselves or those around them to come out of the closet and bring new breath into their lives.



Men and women like Harvey Milk took that bullet to their heads so that you and I could be free.



There are only two great walls left in America; the wall that keeps Native Americans locked in their reservations and the wall that keeps GLBT individuals locked in their closet of fear, anger, hurt and solitude.



We live in the 250th millennium of human existence and in the greatest nation the world has ever seen. The time is now that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.



If society, if government would deny you the rights laid down at the beginning of creation then you must take them. Your life, your liberty and your happiness should not be held in the hands of government or strangers, it is in your hands. So go and make your voice heard not only for yourself but also for those who have gone and those yet to come.

Many American's still hold on to our 300 year tradition of thinking we're better than everyone else. This has been passed down generation to generation and is one of the main reasons people think like that (about GBLT, and other races).



We need more people like you, X.

Well you know where i stand on this subject. Did you hear that our home state wants to ban gay or lesbian couples from adopting? Seriously what kind of horse shit is this when we deny a child the right to a safe, loving & happy chance at a family only because the "family" might be 2 men or 2 women? I have never believed we are a free country. We never will be until we ditch the rose coloured glasses & stand up/voice for whats truly right.....
