With everything going on I've started making some plans....just in case.

Between the environment, terrorism and more importantly the government I think everyone should have some sort of emergency plan for their families.

I know this sounds a bit crazy but hell just a few weeks ago half of Nashville flooded so there's a prime example of why people should be prepared for emergency situations.

So far I've gotten a number of 5 person survival kits, a military kits, a set of knives for dressing game and a couple things for defense. I've also gotten a large reserve of intrinsic value items that can be used in trade if and when the dollar becomes useless.

I would normally brag about the specifics but I wont in this case lol

Just an update on what the great Xzavier be up to :)

I'm telling my brother he has to move out the moment I see him next.

The past few months he's stolen $500 in cash, $300 in my medication, our freakin microwave and just a moment ago as I went to ride my bike I notice that it's completely ruined. I got the thing for my last birthday 7 months ago and it's already busted.

We've done everything possible for him and he's tossed it in the trash.

A few weeks ago he told me about something he did, a felony, and I helped fix the problem at a cost of $350 (which I didn't have to give). I thought I was being safe by making him sign a notarized promissory note promising to pay me back over a certain period and if he didn't I could take possession of his big screen TV, stereo and $2,000 in power tools. Come to find out today, he's sold all of those things.

Out the goodness of my heart I've put myself in a pretty bad financial position to the point where I'm going to have to sell so of MY things to pay bills. But this is just to much. So he's out and I'm going to try to convince his ex-wife (even though I don't like her) to take full custody of the kids. I would think about suing him but he doesn't have any money aside from his unemployment. ...of course I could prolly contact them and tell them he's using that money for drugs, idk.

Point is I'm seriously hurt by all of this and I can't believe I let myself try to help him.

Wow, that's horrible. That sounds a bit like my brother too, only we never gave him actual money but everyone in the family buys stuff FOR him. They get him apartments to live in and get him the job he needs to help pay the bills. (He takes from Social Security even though he's perfectly able to work. He just doesn't WANT to.) And then he just throws it all away and expects everybody else to take care of him. (He's got mental issues but I think he just milks that so everyone will help him.) He blames everyone else for his mistakes and he spent his entire SS check in less than a week and comes to US (my mother and I) for money which she lets him stay (Even though he smells like sewage) and buys him the cheap kind of tobacco and then he tries to steal HER cigarettes.

Anyways, I'm so sorry and I hope everything gets better and you kick his ungrateful ass out.

I'm curious how difficult and costly it would be to create a programme that would crawl the internet (with filters as to not get porn sites etc) and basically download whatever information might be on each page.

So I'm working on a silver investment project. Basically a person buys a certificate for 5g, 10g, 1/2oz 1oz, 5oz, 1lb, 1kilo of silver for an amount and then that certificate has a period you have to hold it for, say 1 year. And then at the end of that year you have the option of turning it in for the silver or expanding its period.

The plus with this is should you buy a 5oz cert. for $125 and in 1 year 5oz of silver is worth $175+ well you turn in the cert. and you get your silver which means you've made $50. And you don't have to deal w the security risk of physically having the silver until you need it (unless you want it but thats another thing).

It's pretty basic but it's more straight forward and easier to deal with than any other silver investment programme.

Just thought I'd share this randomness while I try to sleep at 6:45 AM lol

Nope, but that part number is actually for a TSST Corp optical drive. Probably OEM'd to HP (HP doesn't build any of their own stuff, really) and HP is terrible with software and support issues.

So I've decided to write a book on coin collecting and wanted to show you a part of it.

When I was a kid I actually tried writing one and got a lot done but was never able to really finish it. So since I love the hobby, have been doing it for years and know lots I figured I'd give it a try. Its going to have a lot of info most "guides" don't have and will have a collection of info you'd be hard pressed to find in any one place. It'll also have info on how to collect "green".

Feel free to give me any comments or possible corrections.

Introduction

Welcome to the world of numismatics (coin collecting) and thank you for taking the time to read this guide!

Coin collecting is the oldest known hobby in the world dating back to the days of Caesar Augustus nearly 2000 years ago. Numismatics is basically the study and collecting of money which includes coins, paper money, tokens and related objects. Because of this and because every nation on Earth has used some type of money in forms we’d recognize today for over 3,500 years any truly useful guide must cover the many facets of this expansive hobby.

The main purpose of this guide is to provide collectors of all levels, from beginners to those with a lifetime of experience, with a collection of information that is rarely seen in any other single book. With the information provided herein you’ll be able to build a strong foundation of knowledge about this hobby that will serve you for years to come. It’s also one of the few books to be focused on brining coin collecting into the 21st century with information about modern changes and even includes a guide to “green” collecting/dealing!

This guide contains information about the history of numismatics, US currency, grading, values, US Mints, how-to guides, figures, fun facts, pictures, information about foreign currency, errors and much, much more. Most guides gives you only the bare basics which while useful to the beginner isn’t much help to the more experienced collector or they grow into massive books filled with technical details and/or limit themselves to only a portion of the numismatic field; this of course might be great for the professional but can overwhelm everyone else. So I wrote this to be of great value to everyone with any level of interest in coins.

Currency isn’t stable, it’s always changing with new designs, denominations, laws and stories which means any guide that wishes to be a continual part of the field must grow as well. So, every few years I will publish an updated version to reflect the new changes to our great hobby. I’ll also work on publishing several more books dealing with various numismatic topics.

I hope you’ll find this book to be very helpful and beneficial to you. Whether you’re a new collector or even a dealer I know you’ll find something just for you.

Happy Collecting!

There's nothing I can really think of to add. In reply to your kismet, coin collecting has never really interested me but I do have a little interest in it. My dad's brother, I guess my uncle but I only met him when I was really young and don't remember... but he collected coins. I'm not sure if my mom is handing them down to me or what, but it's always intrigued me. *nods*

I found out some not so good news.

After receiving a letter from the SS Admin I gave them a call to try and figure out what exactly it was saying. It would seem that for some fairly esoteric reason they've reduced my back benifits by nearly $10,000. Which means I can't get a car and have to put off, again, my 3 needed root canals.

I'm going to appeal but I don't think I'll win this one.

Well this is cool. As you may know I collect coins, I've been collecting, selling & appraising since 1997 actually.

Anyway, in coin collecting (aka numismatics) we have the "Red Book" which is the official book of US coin values that comes out every year. Well I never buy each years book because the difference in values yr to yr is generally small for most coins, if at all. So I buy the book every 2 years.

Well today I got the 2011 Red Book. All my coin values were based on the 2009 book. I started going through my collection to update their values and for the most part they didn't change, but some did. My goal is to collect every US coin. Now that isn't possible since many coins are unique and the cost of a complete US collection runs around $50 million, give or take. But I try lol

Anyway, I went through 3 of my collections (Indian Head Cents, Wheat Cent and Liberty Nickel sets) and in total they did indeed gain in value. From 2009 to 2011 (yes I know its 2010 but trust me on this) just those coins grew in value by $54 :D Which might not sound like a lot but it's actually around a 10% increase for those coins...which is a hell of a lot better than bank interest rates lmao

I'm working on an article dealing with heteronormative society.

Heteronormative: "The term “heteronormative” is used to describe a culture or belief system which assumes that heterosexuality is the norm. Heteronormativity can take a number of forms, and it is often very subtle and pervasive. One of the most obvious impacts of heteronormativity is the marginalization of people who do not fit within heterosexual norms, such as homosexuals and people who do not identify with commonly-held ideas about sexuality and gender."

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-does-heteronormative-mean.htm

And from Dale Parker Anderson: “We live under a regime of apartheid. Homophobia is nothing less than sexual racism. We are people first and foremost. We work, we have lives, we love and have relationships. We are family. Yet, despite being citizens, voters and taxpayers, lesbian and gay [people] do not have the same rights that heterosexual people take for granted.”

Your thoughts on the matter?
