Here's some GOP nomination numbers to think about.

In 2008 Ron Paul received 15 votes, Mitt Romney 2.

In 2012 Ron Paul received 190 votes and 6 State petitions for nomination. Unfortunately the GOP establishment strong-armed local conventions and the delegates and refused to allow Paul to be nominated from the floor.

Rick Santorum who received over 1 million votes more than Paul in the primaries and said he wanted a convention fight between his people and Paul's only got 9 votes.

Maybe Rand Paul for 2016?

In the past month at least 2 US veterans have been arrested for "terrorism". The truth is they never committed a single crime and are just the first in a soon to be very long line of citizens illegally detained for thought crimes or Gestapo-like "see something, tell someone" paranoia that is sweeping the nation.

When will we stand up against such tyranny?

The concept of fractals and self similarity has altered how we view the world in many ways. From computers to evolution and the topography of life systems fractals have given us an brand new way to study and understand how seemingly separate systems work within a larger, fractal, world.

One question that has been asked is --is the universe itself a fractal?

Electrons orbit atoms, planets orbit stars, stars orbit stellar groups, those groups orbit a galaxy, the galaxy groups of galaxies and so forth.

Well, a recent survey of the universe shows that the answer is no. No, the universe is not a fractal and is extremely homogeneous at very large scales.

Video included-

"A statement of fact is only offensive if you fail to believe it. Belief alone is not a valid argument against a statement of fact."

Here is a rousing speech by NJ Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano during the 2009 convention of the Campaign for Liberty. It deals with the source of our rights, the Constitution, the PATRIOT Act and similar topics.

Each vid is less than 10 min long.

Homosexuality is bad, just look at the suicide rate! Well, wouldn't you be depressed and consider suicide if your parents, pastors, national leadership and popular culture considered your very nature to be shameful, in error and treated you as sub-human?

Firstly, I do not use marijuana, however I do take prescribed medicine for chronic pain.

One of the biggest arguments against legalized marijuana use is it's dangers.

Here are some easily found facts.

Deaths directly caused by the medication I take since 2005: over 2,000.

Deaths cause per year from narcotic painkillers: 14,000+

Deaths directly caused by alcohol per year: 24,000+ (excluding accidents)

Deaths caused by marijuana in the past 10 years: 0

Question for debate: Does economic freedom breed social freedom or does social freedom give rise to economic freedom?

This may not be what you were meaning but reading your question what comes to my mind is simple. Either social or economic freedom allows people to grow in their vision of what all is possible and makes them want more for themselves even to the point of making some willing to fight for it.

The human mind is wired to protect against loss. This defense mechanism lends itself to defending the status quo even if there is a chance of gain. In fact we will more often than not take the status quo (even if it isn't great) over a gain of 150%.

To me this helps answer the question why the government only protects itself (it is made up of people after all) and why the citizenry will defend the powers of government over any change or real liberty.
