I've seen most of these..but one...just sticks out. It made me stop and look around, that's for sure.

It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.

One human hair can support 3 kg (6 lb).

The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb.

Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.

A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.

There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.

Women blink twice as often as men.

The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.

Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.

If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.

Women reading this will be finished now.

Men who read this are probably still busy checking their thumbs

Hmm...positivity for the day

I'm positive my eye socket is about explode.

I'm positive the fluorescent lights in my office began flickering just because my eye is exploding.

I'm positive my throat has now begun to ache when I swallow.

I'm positive I'll be at the doctor's office by Thursday if I'm not better.

..on a better note, my great neice is in town for a week. I refuse to be ill while she's here. I have a lot of spoiling to do, starting with lunch today.

She's two and she already knows how to wrap everyone around her little finger.

I POSITIVELY adore her! :)

I haven't written about my smoking lately. It's day 27 and I'm doing better than I expected..but I haven't quit.

I've gone from a pack a day to 4-5 cigarettes a day. Sometimes it's less. It just depends on what I've got going on.

I've noticed that the taste and the smell affect me more than they have before. The only room in the house that we allow smoking in is the pool room. We converted the garage into a playroom with a pool table and it was dubbed the "pool room". Anyway, I digress. Lately, I've noticed the smell of stale cigarettes from the ashtrasy or the smell of a freshly smoked cigarette. It isn't very appealing either.

Sometimes I can pick up a cigarette and it even tastes bad to me. That's particularly odd, but hopefully a good sign.

Still working on it, I guess I'll just see how it goes.

On the journals page, it informs me that mine is on 17 lists--but in my "journal lists you are on" menu, there is only 5.

I don't know either, but it is odd.

Getting older is a real pain in the ass.

My mind doesn't feel old. Hell, I still feel like I'm 21...ok..well, maybe more like 31, but STILL!

My body, however refuses to go along with the charade.

Last night we had hot dogs for dinner. I made the chili from scratch because it's their favorite, but I didn't remember to take my little purple pill.

At three this morning, I was reminded why I should ALWAYS take the little purple pill.

I sat up so quickly, my mind was reeling. I thought at first that I was dreaming, but no, unfortunately it wasn't a dream.

I felt this aweful burning in my throat and a soreness that reminded me of the worst cough I ever had. It even hurt to breath!

That's when I realized it. It hurt to breath because I was having so much trouble doing it. As quickly as I realized it, I jumped out of the bed and headed for the bathroom. I thought it would surely be better if I could just vomit and get whatever it was in my throat out!

I couldn't seem to get a breath of air down my throat without struggling. Exhaling was no easier, but at this point...there wasn't much left to exhale.

My husband was up and running..thank God for him! I could hear him tell me to slow down..to try to relax and I could breath easier. But let me tell you, when you're not breathing...relaxing is the last thing on your mind! I was really and truly scared that I was going to die right then and there from lack of air.

I did a quick look at myself in the mirror and thought...of fuck...I have the most comfortable gown on, but it looks like a ton of hawaiin flowers exploded on it and it's about a size too big. My hair, which started out in a ponytail last night is now crunched onto the left side of my head and my whispies out front have become wired masses. I even noticed my sleep swollen eyes that were now tinged with a bit of purple and were completely bloodshot.

This was how I was going to die. I couldn't even tell my husband to make sure he changed my gown and fixed my hair.

I don't know why..I'm not particularly vain, but for some reason I was standing there...gasping for air to breath and thinking about how I'd look if the EMTs had to come take me to the morgue.

It felt like forever that I stood there gasping...my voice, when I could get something out, was raspy and strained. I kept telling my husband that I couldn't breath and he kept telling me to relax. I remember say...I CAN'T BREATH!!. In my mind I'm saying...let me cut off your air supply and tell you to relax, mother fucker!

I tried, though. I was consciously trying to slow the breathing down, even though it meant less air trying to sneak in. I'm not sure how long it took. Probably no where near the infinate amoutn of time that it felt like it took. But I did finally start to relax and the air was a little easier to take in. Slowlyl, but surely, I was taking in more air and slowly exhaling it.

My throat felt like it was being torn apart with sandpaper on fire.

After all of this the hubby tells me he gets that once ina while...acid reflux. It's not fun, and apparantly, I've slept through his bouts with it. That makes me feel horrible too.

I was crying when it was all said and done. I kept saying I thought I was going to die. He was pretty freaked out abotu the whole thing too. He said I should spend the rest of the night in the recliner. It always works for him.

I tried laying back on the bed, but he was right. The recliner was much better. I didn't get that horrible feeling in the recliner. The feeling that I still had something lodged in my throat just waiting for me to go back to sleep before it made a come back.

At work a friend assured me that the worst that would happen is that I would pass out and then I would be so relaxed that the breathing would come easier.

I'm not so sure I believe that and I damn sure don't want to find out.

No more chili in the evenings for me.

I know exactly how you feel. Strange enough, for the past couple of weeks, I've been feeling like my esophagus was burning out of my body. I've been sick to my stomach every single time I eat and then scared when I get hungry. I thought maybe it was an ulcer due to stress, but maybe I need to look into the acid reflux scenerio.

I did the same thing this morning, got up, looked n the mirror and thought Oh my God, how did you get to looking like this. I remember when I was younger, wearing cute little teddys to bed and waking up with my hair the same way I went to bed, put together. Nowadays though, it's a pony-tail (in the back when I go to sleep, on the side when I wake up, lol), old t-shirt or like this morning, a horrible pink nightgown like my mother used to wear.

Now I find out I'm going to be a grandmother! Damn, how old do they want me to feel.

Thanks for the entry, I needed to read someone else felt like me!

And, oh yeah, I agree no more chili in the evening for you.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

and here's mine:

Not everyone is stupid, just because they're different.

What is the norm anyway? My view of normal may be completely different from others. Who's right? Who's to say either has to be right?

Everyone's entitled to their own views, it's how that view is portrayed that intimidates people. It sucks (in my opinion) that no one thinks about others anymore. Consideration and concern seem to have gone out the window.

maybe i'm just too nice..maybe i'm too naive..maybe.

I must agree with you and I have to say I always got a better reaction even from angry drunks by treating them nice and kind. At least unless they showed I had to get mean but most of the time those who would darn near resist arrest every time would calm down for me. They would still be angry but it's funny how many people will try to be nice back if you are first.

A woman in a hot air balloon

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am!" The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude." She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican.""I am," replied the man. "How did you guess?" "Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me." The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well" said the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You've made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect ME to solve your problem. You're in EXACTLY the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's MY fault."

Laughter always makes me feel better.

An 86-year-old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk.

The receptionist said, 'Hello, sir. Can you

please tell me why you're here to see the doctor today?'

'There's something wrong with my dick,' he replied.

The receptionist became irritated and said, 'You

shouldn't come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that.'

'Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you,' he said.

The receptionist replied, 'Now you've caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and discussed the problem further with the doctor in private.'

The man replied, 'You shouldn't ask people questions in a room full of strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone.'

The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered.

The receptionist smiled smugly and asked, 'Yes?'

'There's something wrong with my ear,' he stated.

The receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice. '

And what is wro ng w ith your ear, sir?'

'I can't piss out of it,' he replied.

The waiting room erupted in laughter.

Up at 5:00am again and picked up Jenny to head to the track.

We walked a mile again. This time we did the almost the whole thing at a fast paced walk. The very last leg of the mile we took at a jog, and one half round was lunged.

I'm walking a little funny this morning. Those lunges kick my ass.

All in all though, it feels pretty good. I'm doing ok the last couple of days I've noticed that the cigs don't taste very good. That's a good sign.

The first powerlifting meet of the season. The but left at 4:45am on Saturday. I was supposed to go, but Sara was sick, and the spouse isn't quite all that when it comes to making sure she takes her meds and keeping a close eye on her.

I stayed, Jenn went and I waited for the phone calls or texts.

FINALLY, in the later afternoon, she called. She's doing ok, but I can tell by her voice that she isn't. She's in third place so far and hoping she will move up the ladder with the deadlift.

Something's not right. After a little while she finaly tells me what has her so upset. She didn't make the weigh in. She had to lift in the 132s instead of the 123s. She's upset at herself for not losing those two extra pounds, but I think she's more upset that she stayed in volleyball and never got to really play, when she could have been working out on the weights.

The girl who was 2nd to her last year took 1st in the 123 weight division. She's going to have to work her tush off to beat her before the State meet and she knows it.

Third is terrific! I'm very proud of her..no matter WHICH weight division she's in, now SHE just has to learn to deal with it.

The next meet is a home meet. I'm excited there is no traveling involved...just lots of cooking.

I drop Jenn off at powerlifting practice every Mon, Tues and Wed at 5:20am. I mentioned this to a couple of friends who had been trying to find time to walk the track.

It was pretty much a unanymous decision. So this morning after leaving Jenn at practice, I drive the extra couple of miles to the track and wait for my co-horts.

We only have 30 minutes. It's not much time at all, but it sure felt good. We did one mile of walking, talking, bullshitting and in general enjoying each other's company.

It was cold though. The thermostat read 31 degrees and our happy asses were bundled up and walking the track. I had to laugh when I imagined being the drivers passing by and seeing three bundles of clothing trying to do lunges on the track. The Michillin man probably could have done better..lol

It felt great though. I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow's walk.

Day 8

Some days feel really good. It's getting easier to be without during the day. I was used to smoking one on the way to work, one at 10am, another at lunch, another at 2pm and then again on my way home. Of course, there were others in between if the day became stressful.

So far, I've had 3 cigs total at work. Mostly because I was invited by the other smokers, who didn't know that I was trying to quit.

Today started out well enough, but I work with some real winners and it's hard to keep my witts sometimes. That's when it's the toughest. When I'm getting frustrated and ticked off.

I'm typing this thinking to myself, that by venting here, hopefully I can do without the cig.

Today will be a good test of that little theory.

You can do it. =) I myself have just given up smoking (again -.-) after about 14-15 years of smoking.

The taste and smell just aren't appealing anymore.

Think of all the bad things about cigs and what they do. They make your skin, hair and clothes smell. they make your teeth and gums gross.

And they kill you slowly.

And.....you can BREATHE when you quit. Great feeling.

Keep up the good work.

A friend of mine is at the hospital with her daughter today. It's almost baby time. They've induced labor, she's having contractions about 1-2 minutes apart, but she's only dilated as far as a 2.

I was on the phone, checking on the pair of them when the nurse came in to tell her the doctor was on his way in to check her again.

Apparantly the mama to be doesn't like this news. She tells her mother she feels violated when the doctor checks her..it's just too uncomfortable.

I laughed on the phone and told her to tell her daughter that she had something (hopefully) bigger than the doctor's finger up there to get her into that predicament to begin with and something MUCH bigger than the doctor's finger was definately coming out.

The spousal unit is not helping much. He keeps telling me that slowing down would be good for now. He thinks I don't really have to quit completely. That's not what I want, so when he says he feels like smoking one and throws me that conspirital look, it takes a lot for me to walk away.

I had such a rough time sleeping last night! This cough just seems to be lingering longer than I think it should (the nerve!).

There was so much tossing and turning and coughing going on last night, I finally decided it would be best if I slept on the couch and saved my husband and I from an arguement. I think he truly thought I was coughing intentionally to keep him awake.

Five o'clock came really quickly. Seems like I'd just dozed off and the alarm was ringing. Up and at em! Took Jenn to powerlifting practice and back home to get dressed for work. I didn't dare try to go back to sleep, I knew there was no way in hell I'd wake up again without someone shaking me awake.

I was ironing my slack when I remembered some cough syrup that I took last year. I remember it worked really well and didn't make woozy. Did I have any left?? I checked the cabinet and sure enough, there's about 2 tablespoons left. I debated on just taking a swig, but thought I'd better save what I can, so a teaspoonful was all I took.

It hit me on the way to drop the kids at school. The dizziness, the echo. Now I'm at work with a large coffee, no sugar, and hoping the caffeine will help with the drowsiness.

*note to self.......Self, Don't take that shit again until it's time for bed!*

One of my many new years resolutions is to quit being so fuckin sensitive.

Being a friend means something to me. When someone who claims to be a friend kicks me in the gut, it hurts.

I need to learn how to be more of a bitch.

I need to learn how to say... fuck you...and move on.

Day 5.

I've tried the cold turkey thing. Until I can get into see a doctor for a prescription that will help ease the need for nicotine, cold turkey will have to do.

I'm not having horrid withdrawals, but I've noticed a need to keep putting things in my mouth. I'm trying to keep pretzels handy and hard candy close by. It's helping. I just don't want to end up gaining 10 pounds while quitting the smoking.

I'm drinking lots of coffee in the morning and water throughout the rest of the day. That's helping to keep me from eating everything in sight.

Drinking was a bit easier too...for some reason, smoking seemed to intensify the alcohol. This weekend wasn't bad at all. No major hangover and no puffy eyes. I like this. This will surely go in the 'plus' column.

Hello, It is tough quiting, i went eith moderation through ritual enhancement, putting nicotine back in leisure status. Buying top shelf

Cigerettes makes buying out of habit pack after pack.

Allowing for a cigerrete in leisure settings only. That allowed for moderated abstanance, if I smoked I would not feel the failure, which leads to quiting quiting.

Then I also swallowed the smoke from the butts, oh it will make you gag.. After a week of swallowing smoke you will dodge the smell of smoke.

I just started taking Zoloft and that helped me get over the withdrawl, long walks remind you the benifits of not smoking, since smoking played a part in going outside you already have a lead on the idea, avoid telling to many smokers you are quiting right away this lows down on pressure from inquisition.

Fennel, or licoric branch clippings serve two purposes, it takes a shot at oral fixtstion, and cleans your teeth, and a third.. If you can take two drags off a cigereette after having licoric, or fennel on your taste buds.. you have no taste.. Hehe.. Blah it's nasty..

In extreme nicotine withdraw, Mc Worthers Snuff will do better then nicorate, which reminds me, I should send you a Funny Consumer Letter to Nicorette Products.

I'm not a huge fan of cold pizza. However, cold turkey has it's appeal.

*sighs*...I just ate lunch and thinking of food already. I'm in bigggg trouble!

I'm told my son is spoiled...rotton, to the core. I don't tend to agree with this statement. I take it with a grain of salt, considering it comes from his little sister.

It has me thinking though. Looking back at everything. Maybe I do spoil him, but I also spoil the girls.

They have their moments when they get away with things, or when I take them out for a 'mom and daughter' shopping spree. So when he asks for a few bucks or stays out a little too late, I sometimes forgive and forget. Does that make him spoiled?

It's becoming a real issue here.

You can do it! I cannot get on any IM client now at work, so it is VR or email now.

I didn't do it...I was extremely rude to him when he entered my office afterwards. I think he got the message. He tried to make jokes and I just looked at him and told him I had work to do.

I've been feeling the beginning of the whole bronchial infection thing coming on. I've been trying to take different things to help keep me from getting horribly sick.

New Years Eve was spent in the wrong place for people trying NOT to get sick. We were outside all night long. The night was cool, but not cold. It was a little muggy, which I'm positive didn't help me any. We had the fire pit going, so the smoke from that didn't help AND it was also my last night of smoking, so I was lighting up left and right.

Yesterday, I woke up to a burning sore throat and I was barely able to speak all day long. I kept sucking down throat lozenges and water hoping it would be better today.

It helped. I'm not near as bad as I was yesterday, but I'm still coughing and can't speak clearly.
