Ghost Rider

21:48 Mar 23 2007
Times Read: 740

Went to see the movie Thursday, and had a great time- no, it isn't art, or a fully formed commentary on the world as we know it today- it is not morally uplifting, intellctually challenging, or any of that other stuff people seem to think every movie should be....

It embodies what movies are SUPPOSED to be-pure escapist fun....that's why it is called ENTERTAINMENT folks....

But in the movie, the four demons are confronting Mephistopheles in a long lane with statuary on either side.....

I think I just decided how we are going to do the driveway to the inn.....

Now if I can just find a decent picture from the movie to put here...lol

Vampyric weddings...

01:23 Mar 22 2007
Times Read: 763

Somewhere along the road here at VR, I read in someone's profile the ceremony for vampiric weddings....it was truly beautiful...

So now, we have added a gothic chapel, if I may use those terms in the same sentence, to the B+B...

jewel toned stain glass....

stone everywhere...

MORE gargoyls (are we noticing a trend here, folks?)

ahhhh......Scott even wants to be licensed to perform the ceremony...

*goes back to dreaming about tapestries on the walls, black stone books for the signatures, and more gargoyles.....)

....for reading through IMdB about Rocky Horror-seems the same location was adjacent to the Bray studios, where the majority of Hammer films were shot....since it was so close, it was used for castle scenes in Hammer flicks, and much later, as a location for the Rocky Horror Picture Show....

Yeah baby.....this is from one of the Hammer movies...

The walkway to the house...

02:50 Mar 13 2007
Times Read: 778

There was a house in Port Coquitlam, BC where the walkway was supposedly paved with tombstones...the people got so many gawkers and what not that they paved over the entire walkway to keep out curiosity seekers.....Until they did so, strange things were said to occur in the house perpetrated by the ghosts who wanted their stones back...

Our walk way will be paved with tombstones, but not ones (unless volunteered, or found somewhere abandoned) that belong to a grave...

For each guest that stays at the B+B, their names will be inscribed into each of the tombstones...their dates will of course be up to them...*chuckling*

Winchester House

02:46 Mar 13 2007
Times Read: 779

The supposed basis for the story of "Rose Red". this house has this description in Wikipedia:

The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years and is reputed to be haunted. It once was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. Under Sarah Winchester's guidance, construction on the house continued 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, until her death 38 years later on September 5, 1922 [1]. The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million.

View of the mansion from the southeastThe mansion is renowned for its size and lack of a master building plan. According to popular belief, Sarah Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of individuals killed by Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would appease them. It is located at 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California.

The need...

05:44 Mar 12 2007
Times Read: 793

Between Scott and myself, we have amassed in our respective lifetimes, an ENORMOUS collection of books, dvds, VHS tapes, cds, record albums, etc. Unfortunately, all of my stuff (or most of it anyway) I had to leave in Florida when I got divorced. I wanted to have a place where all those books, and antiques, and stuff could have a good home, to be appreciated by people like ourselves....

We want to have not just a library, but a multi-media room, where all the stuff can be read, enjoyed, and used to it's fullest intent...

On the way to Costco Saturday, we decided that this place would be three stories, with a basement-large enough for all of our stuff, plus the stuff to be added later as we acquired the pecular things that appeal to our darker tastes...

Top floor-our apartment- complete with a suite for us, a bedroom for Connor, spare rooms for family, and last but not least.....

MY OWN SEWING ROOM....yes, indeed, more built-in shelves than you can imagine, skylights for natural lighting, all the gadgets and gizmos that go with the kind of people (like me) who cross stitch, needlepoint, do beadwork, and quilt. And ALL of it UNPACKED and out where I can get to it at any given time...*sigh*

an ARMS room...so that Scott's rather impressive collevtion of swords can be mounted and appreciated as they were meant to be...

Second Floor-guest rooms- at least 12- all fully appointed with as many antiques as we can find, maybe a couple of themed rooms for fun, with large flat screen monitors that are hooked up to a large mainframe computer system in the house, plus be able to access our extensive visual library for movies, etc.,

First (main) floor-dining room, multi media room, ballroom, kitchen, etc. For the functions etc.

Basement....ah yes, the basement....complete with the occasional torture device, MORE gargoyles, a stage any band would drool for (and we have several in mind for weekend parties...) and a bar that any bartender (hello, me) would give their eye teeth to be able to work behind....with just aobut anything a customer could possibly want-and martini glasses GALORE- I love martinin glasses...lol

envison a "nightmare before Chirstmas" party...

Halloween parties to rival any ball....

see? you guys are drooling already...lol

The Reason

05:29 Mar 12 2007
Times Read: 795

So, the reason for this new journal section is a pet project dream of mine. For quite some time (at least 3 years) I have been wanting to find a way to own and run my own Bed and Breakfast. And not just any B+B but one devoted to the Gothic lifestyle and prefences...

Something haunting...

Something dark....

Something beautiful...

With gargoyles.....LOTS of Gargoyles...

Scott and I talk about this late at night in bed, or in the car going wherever, or just because...

It would take a fortune to do 1/10 of the things we would like to do, but it is our dream, and I love it...

As we make our plans, dream our dreams, plot scheme and finagle, I will add stuff here...it's just a dream, but it is MY dream...

So, with all that in mind, let the games begin....
