Checkmate
"It's your move." Neo challengesd across the board to Kelly. She said nothing but gave him a whithering look before she picked up a pawn and took out his Knight. They had been playing for about five minutes now, and the game was going exactly as planned... for him.
He studied the board for only a moment, then moved his bishop to capture one of his Rooks. "Check!" he announced gleefully. "I give it one more move on my part and you can kiss this game, and our bet goodbye."
Kelly fumed as she studied the position of every individual piece on the chessboard. She did not want to lose. The bet they had made prior to beginning the battle of wits, was that whoever lost had to do whatever the winner asked for the rest of the night.
Moving her second Knight, she took his Rook and dropped it gleefully on the table with the rest of her captive pieces. "Two hour back rub hereI come! Check!"
"I'll give you a massage!" came an eager voice from behind Kelly. She rolled her eyes and pretended not to hear. The voice belonged to a young, gargantuan white guy she had met earlier that day. She sighed and kicked herself mentally for ever having said hello to him. He claimed to be a Dom, but the way he was acting told a differebt story. After the little bit of conversation they had shared, he was following Kelly around like a little lost puppy, doing almost anything to get her attention.
Neo smiled evily at the younger man's obvious infatuation with Kelly. Certainly, she was a charming young woman, with her big blue eyes and bubbly personality, and Neo knew from personal experience just how charming she could be. He chuckled quietly at the thought of what would happen if Kelly were to give David the chance he so desperately seemed to crave. The poor boy did not know what he would be in for, and the way he was already trying desperately to catch her eye... the poor boy would lose his soul to her sweet and tender touch. The rememberance of her gentle kisses and attentiveness aroused him slightly, but he calmed himself quickly... they were only friends now.Just friends.
Neo moved his Queen to a square near her King, and saw Kelly's cheerful countenance fall. "Check." he exclaimed."And I do believe that is.. yes it is... Checkmate!" Kelly searched the board franticly for any way out of the loss, but it was useless. There was nothing to be done but to accept defeat. "Okay, what do you want me to do?"
Neo only smiled.

"Aaaaw come on, Neo!" Kelly wailed. "That is just not right!" He grinned and pushed her gently toward the door. "Well, the bet we made says I can do it!" Kelly gaped disbelievingly at him and the Cheshire-like grin oon his face. "But.... you are really going to make me walk home at this hour of night?" His grin did not fade.
David hurried to walk next to Kelly. "I'll walk you home!" Kelly looked at him and swallowed back the sick feeling that was rising quickly in her throat. This guy was just a little too eager and ALOT too forward. She turned back to Neo. "Come on, Neo, it is the day before Christmas Eve!" He looked as if he might change his mind, but now Kelly was too upset to really care. She pushed the front door open and walked out without so much as a glance over her shoulder. David was right on her heels.
"Kelly! I will walk you home!" She was now quite annoyed and this guy just would not stop. "That is quite unnecessary, but i thank you," she said, feigning pleasantness. "I would hate for you to walk me home and then have to walk all the way back up here to catch your ride." David was crestfallen. As she turned to walk away, she cast a glance back at the door of the shop she had just left. Neo was standing in the doorway, looking at her with a strange expresiion on his face. She pretended not to notice and began to walk toward her apartment.
She had barely taken ten steps when Neo's voice arrested her. "Kelly!" he called. She turned. "Come on, I will drive you home." She stopped and glanced back over her shoulder. He was smiling, and her heart skipped a beat as she walked towards the door and the man who stod there. As she passed a disgruntled David, she heard him gasp as though he wanted to speak to her.

Kelly walked past Neo into the store and he closed and locked the door behind her. "Thanks." She said quietly. He said nothing but made a soft sound of acknowledgement. He moved to the back of the store to do some last minute cleanup before closing up for the holiday weekend.
"What's up with you?" He called over his shoulder. "Nothing too serious, really, you would probably laugh at me anyway."
"I'm trying to talk to you!" he called from the back."But I can't really even hear you."
She walked behind the patial parition that seperated the front of the store from the gaming area in back, and saw Neo leaning against the table they had played chess on earlier. His back was to the table and his arms were folded across his chest. She approached him slowly and leaned over the table facing the opposite direction.
"So what's wrong?" Neo repeated. Kelly took a deep breath and thought how best to explain to him. "You are going to think it's dumb.. I just hate to be lonely around Christmas." Neo looked at her with an expression of incredulity. "You don't have a boyfriend?" Kelly paused."Well, I did... but the first time I went to his house, he asked me to do things I was not comfortable with and he wouldn't take no for an answer until I kicked him."
Neo laughed and looked sideways at her. She loved the way he looked when he smiled. His lips were so full and soft-looking, and Kelly remembered how those sensual lips had felt pressed to her neck not even two months ago when she and Neo had spent that one incredible night together. She sighed. Suddenly she felt the need to be held, it was so deep a need that she could not fight it. She moved quickly but smoothly to stand in front of Neo, and wrapped her arms around him. His body went rigid and she felt his arms rise to encircle her waist. Her pulse quickened in response to his touch and she pulled away to stand next to him again. "I just wanted a hug."
Beside her, Neo Chuckled softly, and looked up at the ceiling. "What?" Kelly asked. "Oh, nothing," Neo replied."I just shouldn't have hugged you". "Why?" she asked, a little hurt at this comment. Had she done something wrong? He shifted uncomfortably, and looked down. She followed his gaze and saw what he meant. The buldge in the front of his pants told her what she had been hoping all evening... he wanted her. She decided to play dumb, however, and tease him a little more. "I don't have that kind of effect on you." She whispered. But he took her hand and placed it squarely on the crotch of his pants. She couldn't take it anymore. She moved to stand in front of him, but would not touch him. She inhaled his scent, and leaned close to him, he smelled so good. He tried to catch her eyes, but she would not look him in the face. He moved in closer and their bodies touched.
That was all it took. A current of electricity jolted through both of their bodies and formed a channel of passion that met in their lips as they kissed. Instantly, they began to pull and tug at each other's clothes while trying to keep their kiss unbroken.
Her body was on fire when he finally broke their kiss to pull a blanket from behind the gaming counter and lay it on the floor at her feet. He reached up to her from where he was kneeling on the comforter, and she allowed him to lay her back gently. "I really just wanted to be friends, Kelly," he whispered weakly as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to herself."But I like you, and I like this."
She smiled and covered his mouth with hers.

In the aftermath, he lay breathless between her thighs, his head resting on her heaving chest. "This.. cant ...happen...again." He gasped. "It won't happen again."
She couldn't be sure who he was trying to convince, so she just smiled and pressed his head to her shoulder."That's what you said last time." Neo laughed and kissed her lightly. " You are right." As she returned his kiss, she whispered..."Checkmate."

So in Love With SeverusPosted: Jul 22, 2007 02:17 pm
"CARMEN!! CARMEN!!!"
The voice shattered the stillness of the afternoon and the air of tranquility surrounding the black-haired, blue-eyed Slytherin girl reading by the south bank of the lake at Hogwarts.
"Carmen! The Potter Boy and his friends are tormenting the Snape boy again! Come watch! it is hilarius!"
Carmen slammed the book she had been reading, and, with angry steps, she marched over to where Snape had just fallen to the ground.
"I dont need your help, you filthy little MUDBLOOD!!!"
The insult had been directed at a young girl named Lily, but Carmen felt the sting of it. She was only half-blood witch, and she was very self-concious about it.
She watched as Severus ran off towards the castle, and felt the rage at what Potter had done welling up inside of her. She rounded on the Potter boy, wand drawn.
"EXPELLIARMIS!" she exclaimed. The force of the blast sent James Potter flying backwards into the lake. Lily rushed to his aide, as Carmen began the walk back to the castle.

Later that night, Carmen waited up in the Slytherin common room for any sign of Severus. It was close to midnight when he finally showed up, red-eyed and sniffling.
"Severus?'
He quickly regained his composure, and looked round for the source of the voice. She was kneeling before the hearth, her long, raven hair falling in soft waves about her face. he was silent, and she found herself hoping that he was contemplating her beauty.
Then he spoke...
"What are you doing still up?"
Carmen stood up and walked toward him, the book she had been reading all day still clasped in her hands.
"I was hoping maybe you could help me with this chapter in our Potions book. But from the look on your face, you really aren't in the mood. Do you want to talk about it?"
Severus looked at her for a long moment before he made any move to answer her.
"Why does it matter to you what is on my mind?"
There was so much hurt and suffering in his voice and manner that Carmen's hands loosed the book she had been holding, and flew up to cup the face of this young man she had been secretly in love with for the seven years they had known one another. Before he could protest, she kissed him full and long on the lips, her arms falling to his shoulders, and then wrapping themselves around him.
When she finally had to let go of him so as to catch her breath, there was an expression of great bewilderment on his face. She gazed up into his eyes.
"Severus, I know you have lived a hard life, and have been forced to grow up long before your time, but I think that I can love you past your pain, past your distrust, and past your fears. I am not so dumb as to have let it escape my notice that you have feelings for Lily Evans, but I have also seen how she treats you- as nothing more than a good friend. I implore you to give your heart to me, someone who apprecciates it, and you, for the beauty that lies within. Do this, and I swear to you that you will never again cry tears of suffering at the hands of love."
Severus seemed able to do nothing but stare for a long moment, seeing nothing, then, as though a heavenly light shown on the situaion, he saw the young woman before him, pleading with him for his love. Her bright blue eyes were framed with long, black lashes, wet from her tears of adoration. Her hair was dark as the midnight sky, and had the feel of coolest silk, but the appearance of a magical waterfall that cascaded over her alabaster shoulders.
Her lips were like two pink rose petals, soft and inviting, and all at once, Severus knew that he had been wrong for following after Lily, when this beautiful, charming woman had been beside him ever since the first train ride to Hogwarts.
He pulled her into a tight embrace and felt his tears flow freely down his cheeks. Carmen held to him tightly and stroked his hair.
She could feel his body begin to weaken from the strains of a long schoolyear, so she led him to the hearth, where she conjured a few coushins for him to rest on, positioning him with his head in her lap. As he lay resting, she gently caressed his forehead and hummed a soft love song until he was still.
