У меня были проблемы с изучением произношения с русским языком, так как он сильно отличается от германских и романских языков, к которым я привык, но теперь у меня это есть, так что дальше будет легко.
Интереснее изучать язык из совершенно другой языковой семьи, тем более, когда алфавит у него такой другой, но мне это нравится.

I can read Cyrillic but very slowly and understand about 50% of what I just read without using translate. It's not hard to learn though and my barely passing grade in high school proves that without a doubt ;)

Yeah once you understand how to pronounce the cyrillic, its downhill from there(at least for me). I partly chose Russian because I wanted a challenge.. Its not challenging enough for me to learn languages based on our letters, so I had to kick it up a notch lol
I didn't know you knew some of it. That's cool... Its awesome you had that option...I only had french, Spanish and German in my HS but I'm grateful German was still available while I attented. I took three semesters to supplement learning on my own and I haven't stopped since then..then in college I took a semester of Spanish and I'm building on that. I've tried japanese before and know a bit of French and Icelandic, but I focus on german, Spanish, and Russian for now...
