I tire of the word.
Ridi, Pagliaccio,
sul tuo amore infranto!
Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!
I see you in the distance and know there is nothing I can do.
I will revel in your excellence from afar.
Your beauty is none like I have ever come across and will ever come across again.
I understand what must be done. I do not hate you for it.
There is a path I must walk. A bright path we have talked about before.
It would seem I am walking that path. Only too slowly.
I will return to you one day but only if you will have me.
It is a long road ahead but we will have our moment.
One day.
I see you in the distance. I revel in your excellence. I understand. One day. If you will have me.
In my sleeplessness I have stumbled upon a most intriguing po-em. Perhaps it best explains who I am. Perhaps not.
A Gentleman's Rules
by J. A. Wise
Wednesday, November 10, 2010
There are rules
a gentleman follows,
first
and foremost,
above all else.
To be a friend,
without condition.
To cherish,
without selfishness.
And to love,
without expectation.
I gladly accept
all of these things,
as they keep me
somewhat in your life.
I only wish that sometimes
I were not a gentleman,
and that I could allow myself
to linger
just a moment longer
in your wake.
That I could come closer
and not worry about consequence.
That I could be loved
if only circumstance
had chosen favor,
and worthiness
could ever be earned.
As to not take credit for work that is not my own here are the proper citations:

Things can easily be lost in translation but be wise with words as others may see ghosts of words that or not there my love xx
It would seem sleep escapes me this night. She is a crafty maiden who will only bestow her most cherished blessing to those that deserve it. I pray she comes to me soon. For I am in desperate need to be in her embrace. Come to me. I grow tired.
At times one must walk down a familiar road. A road that gives some comfort. He finds this road to be the one MOST traveled. The cool breeze of the night air soothes his soul. He can close his eyes and feel safe. Secure. It would not matter the time nor the mood. For one moment. He can be free. Engulfed in solitude. A recluse. Bound by the darkness that surrounds him but does not control him. He does not need to see the moon to know it radiates in his direction. With eyes closed he need not worry about what lies ahead. With arms outstretched he need not worry about feeling vulnerable. There is a light in the darkness...with eyes closed he will find it. It is familiar.
