Chapter 2
As the sun blazed high above her, a young woman walked down an alleyway alone she was living in Huntington Beach, she would be perfect for Set’s plan, she stood still as she fumbled in her bag for something, she didn’t notice the thick black smoke making its way down towards her, she suddenly noticed the thick smoking tendrils wrapping around her legs.
Her green eyes seemed to flicker with fear, her body caught a gust of wind as her pale skin came up with goosebumps, her dark red hair falling to make a curtain over her eyes, the tendrils wrapped themselves around her thighs as they carried on up her body caressing her like a lover would do, she let out a slight shudder and a soft erotic moan as the figure of Set appeared in front of her, his eyes locking onto hers as he let out a soft chuckle.
Set walked around the young woman as he whispered into her ear “You my child….you will be perfect, I sense great darkness in your heart, you shall become my Agent of Chaos” the young girl groaned as she nodded her head slowly, an intricate tattoo weaving it’s way onto her back as Set ran his hand under her shirt pulling his hand away and stood back appraising her.
Set then said in a deep rumbling voice “Find the boy that is called Jayden, befriend him. Lure him away from that damnable cat goddess Bast and destroy him” The girl smiled a venomous smile as she bowed to her new Master uttering the words “Of course Sire your wish is my command, the boy wont know what hit him” Set smiled a silky smile as he melted into the shadows as his new agent walked out of the alleyway.
Meanwhile Bast and Jayden stopped outside the apartment overlooking the beach, Jayden slunk out of the car and stretched as he breathed in the sea air, he saw the early morning surfers riding the waves, he chuckled softly to himself thinking maybe he could ask Bast to teach him how to surf as he turned to look at her he saw that she was studying him carefully. Jayden raised an eyebrow as he said “What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that” Bast shook her head and replied in a soft meowing voice “Oh nothing Jayden, don’t worry about it” she then walked towards the door and found the key entering the apartment.
Meanwhile back in Las Vegas, Mia was sitting in a leather chair across from a stern looking police detective who was reading through a folder as he raised his eyes to look up at her clearing his throat “So…..your friend Jayden just disappeared from the hospital he was in did he?” Mia frowned as she replied in a slightly caustic tone “You don’t believe me….he was there…and then I went back to see him and he’d just disappeared” the detective nodded his head scribbling something down in the folder.
A few hours later after being asked many of the same questions and giving many of the same answers Mia walked out of the police station breathing in the air, she raked a finger through her hair she looked around as she went back to last night, seeing the bed of her best friend empty, the nurses and doctors said they couldn’t find any trace of him, it was as though he had disappeared into thin air, she saw the curtains blowing in the wind and looked out of the window seeing several footprints running from Jayden’s room.
She swore to herself that she would find him, she pushed away from the wall she was sitting on heading towards her sleek black and red Kawasaki motorbike revving the engine and speeding away from Las Vegas to begin her own journey of self discovery and mayhem.
The young Agent of Chaos stopped by a clothes store and looked inside it trying to figure out how best to go about seducing her prey, she headed into the store and picked up several choices of clothes but wasn’t to impressed with anything as she made her way back further and saw some revealing clothes, she smiled softly and picked them up putting them into her bag, as a shop assistant made his way towards her saying “Excuse me Miss but I think you have some items you haven’t actually paid for” the girl turned her eyes on him and growls as she struck a fist into his chest tearing out his heart squeezing it as he dropped dead to the floor. She deftly stepped over the body and made her way out of the store to the sound of alarms ringing.
Before she had been turned into Set’s Agent, she was a young woman called Ari, she went to school, she trained in judo and karate, she still had brief flickers of her old life running through her mind as the evilness of Set began to sink deeply into her very core. She didn’t feel regret for killing the shop assistant, although she was sure he could have had a family that loved him, but she had her own mission to accomplish.
Bast was in the kitchen of the apartment as she called through to Jayden “Do you want anything Jayden?” Jayden was flicking through the television channels replying “Nah…I’m good….well ok I’ll maybe have a glass of OJ” Bast chuckled opening the fridge as she poured out a glass of orange juice and took it through to him sitting down in a red leather chair as she curled up and began to lick her fur slowly.
Jayden looked over at her and let out a disgruntled snort as he said “Must you do that when I’m in the room….it really is quite unnerving Bast” Bast looked up, setting her eyes on him as though looking at her prey as she replied “Well I need to keep looking beautiful don’t I Jayden” Jayden considered this as Bast slid down from the chair and made her way towards him sitting on his lap and stroking the side of his face lightly.
Jayden looked at her as though he was mesmerised by her as she shook herself and slid from his lap before clearing her throat as she said “I’m gonna go and scout the area….see if there’s anywhere we can go to eat and get you some new clothes” Jayden nodded as he sat back in the couch. Bast pulled on a black leather jacket as she left the apartment leaving Jayden on his own as he flicked through the television channels settling on a music channel as loud music blared around the apartment.
Bast walked along the sidewalk as she stopped outside a shop running a hand through her hair, she had changed her appearance somewhat to not freak out the mortals, she was now sporting long blonde hair, with dark amber eyes, she knew she shouldn’t be feeling such strong feelings for Jayden, she was his protector….well for the moment at least until the time came that Horus and Isis needed to sacrifice him to bring about Osiris’s return.
As she walked through the streets she saw a crowd gathered outside a clothes store, she wandered over and saw several policemen as well as reporters firing questions, she sidled up to an old gentleman and said “So what’s going on here?” The old man looked at her saying “A shop assistant was killed, they say that he had his heart ripped” Bast was visibly startled as she staggered backwards as though she was about to vomit as she muttered to herself “Set…..Set is here….or at least someone working for him” she took her cell phone out of her jacket as she dialled Horus.
Horus answered on the second ring as he said “Yes Bast what do you want? I’m kinda busy right now” Bast growled deep in the back of her throat as she said sharply “Well it may bloody interest you to know that Set….or someone working for him is here….where you said we’d be safe” Horus let out a deep sigh as he replied “Alright alright, so Set or someone might be there, it’s fine….we’ll send someone to help you with protecting the boy alright” Bast growled as she just hung up in disgust as Horus turned onto his back and stroked the face of the young woman that was giving him a massage beckoning her to leave as he wrapped a blanket around himself walking towards the balcony and looking down at the thick swirling mist that enveloped the pyramid that was in a long distant part of the Duat, he knew that sometime soon, it might become how it once was.
Isis came and stood beside him as she said in her soft silky seductive voice “What troubles you my Son?” Horus turned towards his mother replying “Set, he is hunting for the boy….what if he disrupts our plans?” Isis let out a laugh as she replied “Well if he does try….then we shall send Anubis after him and he can crush Set” Horus nodded his head as he leant on the stone railing as Isis rested a hand on his shoulder.
Bast looked around as she hurried back towards the apartment to find Jayden asleep on the couch, some drool leaking from the corner of his mouth, she smiled softly as she covered him up with a blanket setting up the laptop and flicking it on letting it whir and shudder into life as she looked up various news reports to see if there was anything of interest relating to Jayden.
She saw a report relating to the disappearance from hospital of Jayden and sighed softly rubbing the corners of her eyes scanning the report and some comments from the staff, as she read that a young woman he was last seen with had also disappeared after the police had failed to gather any information on his whereabouts. Bast sighed knowing that Mia wouldn’t give up the hunt for her friend as she clicked on the games and started to play a game of Solitaire.
Mia’s bike was eating up the road, she had music blaring into her ears from her Ipod she wondered where would be the best place to start her search as suddenly she saw a flash of light as a man…well she thought it was a man….with a dog like head stood in the middle of the road, she screeched her bike to a halt and took off her helmet as the man strode towards her and stood beside her bike looking her up and down before he murmured “You will not find the boy yet….it is not your destiny….you walk a different path…one day you may well end up meeting him again, but for now….you must travel to Chicago….where you will find someone who will help in the coming storm….My Master Horus would have me destroy Jayden….but I cannot do that….he is my master and I will do what I must to protect him” he then turned and ran away from Mia changing into a jackal as he disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke.
Mia sat astride her bike as she rubbed at her eyes muttering to herself “Right….well this is getting curious” she then revved the engine of her bike as she sped back down the road heading for the Windy city of Chicago, she thought about everything that Jayden had ever said to her and realised that there may well be some hint of truth in what he had said.
In his dream, Jayden was sitting atop a pyramid, looking down across the lands of Ancient Egypt, the sun blazed overhead as he heard birds caw, and saw slaves being whipped, he growled softly as he slid down the side of the pyramid as a whip was pulled back as the whip was about to crack onto the slaves back Jayden grabbed it and pulled it out of the Masters hand staring at him ferociously. The Slave master cowered and pulled back bowing to Jayden as he said softly “My apologies my Lord, I know you have forbidden us from using the whip but the slave was being disobedient” Jayden looked at the slave pulling her back up onto her feet and motioned for her to leave as he turned back towards the large man and smacked him in the chest making him stagger backwards in pain.
The guard stared up at Jayden as he began to draw his sword, but Jayden with some sort of unknown knowledge spun around kicking the sword out of his hand before grabbing it and driving it into the guards heart killing him as Jayden growled softly and shook his head muttering “What the hell is going on here?” he then suddenly saw a flash of light overhead as he began to be lifted upwards, he was spun around as he then suddenly awoke with a cry of shock as he fell from the couch onto the living room floor.
Bast let out a loud laugh as she looked down at him holding a hand out to help him up as she said softly “Are you alright there handsome?” Jayden nodded as he replied “Yeah….I guess just had a really strange dream….I dreamt I was in Ancient Egypt…and there was a guard whipping a slave…then….I felt myself being pulled back here” Bast looked at him curiously and stroked his hair softly.
Jayden smiled as he said “I’m gonna go take a shower, I need to get the this hospital smell off of me” Bast nodded as Jayden walked into the bathroom and ran a blazing hot shower and stepped underneath the water letting it run over him as he leant his head against the cold tiles sighing softly. Bast went and picked up his dirty clothes putting them into the washing machine as she found some clothes that must have been left for him by Horus she laid them on his bed as Jayden rubbed shower gel over his body and rubbed shampoo into his hair letting the scents mingle together which soothed his nerves.
As Jayden stepped out of the shower he grabbed a towel and dried himself off as he headed into his room and dressed in the clothes that Bast had laid out for him, he pulled on a pair of jeans with ripped holes in them and pulled on a red tank top which showed off his muscular arms, and showed the tattoo emblazoned on his arm, he looked in the mirror noticing the dark shadows underneath his eyes as he sighed softly.
He turned around realising that Bast was standing in the doorway looking at him with concern as he smiled softly at her “Hey Bast, everything alright?” Bast smiled and nodded her head at him, her dress clinging to her in all the right places as she walked towards him kissing his lips softly, Jayden stepped back in surprise smiling softly at her. Jayden then said softly “Well….that was….pleasant….I thought you were meant to be my protector Bast” Bast sighed and stared softly at him replying “Well…..I am a centuries old goddess…..but yet I have never felt like this about anyone but you” she shook her head and sunk down onto Jayden’s bed putting her head in her hands.
Chapter 1
The birds cawed as the water lapped slowly at the reed boat as it sailed down the Nile, the sun shone high in the sky, Jayden Ramsey stood on the deck of the boat, he knew he was dreaming I mean after all why would anyone want to be dressed in white linen robes, he looked down into the water letting out a deep sigh as he heard everyone running about on the boat, he saw the Pharaoh barking out orders to the crew he wandered towards the pharaoh noticing that he looked exactly the same.
As the sun began to sink down lower into the sky, Jayden shook his head as suddenly he found himself bolting upright in bed, sweat dripping from his skin as his sheets were tangled around him, he sighed softly running a hand through his hair as he swung his legs out of the bed, his feet going down onto the cold wood floor as he stretched and looked at the clock at the side of his bed, it was only 7am. He walked through into his bathroom and splashed some cold water over his face, he dressed in a pair of black jogging pants and put on a light green t-shirt lacing up his trainers leaving his apartment to go for a run.
As his feet pounded the pavement, music blaring from the ear buds attached to his Ipod he began to sink into his own thoughts, he tried to figure out why these dreams were coming back to him, he stopped as he gasped for air a stitch blazing in his side as he looked up at the sky, he thought he saw a falcon swoop over the clouds but shook his head realising how stupid that was, falcons were never found in Las Vegas he
walked back towards the Bellagio Hotel where he lived on the top floor as he passed the fountains letting the cold water spray against his face cooling him down.
He then walked over to a wall and sat down on it looking around as he shielded his eyes from the blazing sun, he then felt someone sitting down next to him as Mia said softly to him “Well good morning’ Sunshine” in her drawling Texan accent, Jayden chuckled softly as he replied in his implacable accent “And a good morning to you to Mia, so anything exciting been happening?” Mia smirked before replying “Well apart from you being up early like you always are, you had the dream again didn’t you?” Jayden nodded his head slowly as he sighed softly running a hand through his hair as he said “I just don’t know what it means and its starting to get very annoying” Mia nodded as she took Jayden’s hand and kissed it softly.
Jayden looked at Mia and smiled at her as she said “Well how about you take me to breakfast…it’s the least you can do after all” Jayden let out a deep laugh as he replied “I thought there might be a catch in there somewhere sweetheart….alright fine come on then lets go” they both stood up from the wall and headed for a diner.
As they entered, Jayden thought he saw the figure of a red skinned man sitting in a booth, he shook his head as a voice seemed to echo in his mind, a voice that seemed to be rife with darkness and evil saying softly “The Binds that tie you to this plain will soon be broken boy, and then you will finally know what true pain is!” a deep rumble seemed to pass through the diner as Jayden blinked and when he looked towards the booth where he thought he had seen the red skinned man…there was now nobody there. Mia slunk down into a booth where she picked up a menu and pulled Jayden to sit down beside her, Mia chatted to him animatedly but he wasn’t really listening as a waitress walked over to them Mia smacked him in the back of the head glaring at him saying “You haven’t been listening to a damn word I’ve said now have you J?” Jayden looked at her apologetically before replying “Uhh…No, sorry Mia, so whatcha having for breakfast then” Mia snorted saying “I was gonna go for the pancakes, and maybe grab an orange juice as well” Jayden then looked up at the waitress ordering the food as he sank back into the booth.
He couldn’t get the image of the red skinned being out of his mind, Mia knew he wouldn’t speak so she got out her phone and started to play on it, after a while she couldn’t bare the silence and turned her gaze on him saying impatiently “Alright, what the hell is the matter with you? Ever since we came in here you’ve been acting all weird” Jayden looked at her and chuckled replying in his deep baritone “Sorry, just thought I saw something when we came in here…a red skinned dude….and its like I’ve seen him before and know who he is I just cant place him” Mia studied her friend for several moments and then shook her head.
As the waitress brought over their food Jayden looked up and was staring into the eyes of another being he couldn’t quite place, she was beautiful, and slim, her dark hazel coloured eyes seemed to penetrate into his soul as she said in a soft voice “Keep calm my child, all will become clear soon, but you must leave this place….it is not safe for you here….the red one hungers for your blood” Jayden seemed to blink several times and as his vision cleared, the woman looking down at him had changed into a young woman of about 20, she was chewing on some gum, her dark blue eyes seeming to look at him holding a question in them as though she was waiting for a response from him.
Jayden cleared his throat before saying “Sorry….what did you say?” the waitress looked at him disdainfully before saying in a deeply southern accent “I said….do you want anything else?” Jayden shook his head as she asked the same thing to Mia who also shook her head as the waitress headed off her ass swaying rhythmically. Mia let out a snort of exasperation as she glared at Jayden “What the hell is with you today boy, don’t make me take you out to the cowshed and prod you with somethin’ cos Heaven help me I will” Jayden just shook his head at her not wanting to explain what had just happened to him.
As they finished their breakfast Jayden put down some money as they both stood up and left the diner, the day was warm and sunny, the flowers were in full bloom now, various scents seemed to drift out from the various cafes and bars around them, to Jayden, this was his safety blanket, this is where he felt secure. Mia punched his arm gently as he shook his head and looked down at her “What?….Sorry I was just thinking” Mia smirked her voice dripping with sarcasm “Well I hope that did hurt you to much” Jayden snorted softly as he ran a hand through his hair.
Suddenly, time seemed to stop as the drops of water from the fountain stopped forming little orbs of colour, he looked around thinking he was going nuts as a soft voice floated all around him saying “Keep calm child, you are quite safe….you have a very long quest ahead of you, fraught with perils and dangers that even I cannot foresee….you will see things that may make you question your sanity….and you may see things that make you wish you were dead, but I promise that it will all be worth it Jayden” Jayden frowned as he said in a low voice “Where are you? Show yourself” laughter tinkled all around him as the voice replied in a slightly darker voice “The time is not right for me to show myself to you, when you have learned all that you need to….then I will be seen….but for now you cannot stay in Las Vegas, the sand of time are shifting, and I need you in the right place at the right time” a vision suddenly popped into Jayden’s head making him cry out in pain as it seemed to almost sear itself onto his brain as the voice chuckled with satisfaction and time restarted making Jayden collapse onto the floor in a heap still holding onto his head as blood poured from his nose.
Mia let out a cry of alarm as she sank down onto her knees beside Jayden and stroked his hair not knowing what was wrong with him, one minute he’d been sitting up and chatting to her, the next he was on the floor with blood pouring from his nostrils, she took her cell phone out of her jeans and rang for an ambulance as she carried on stroking Jayden’s hair trying to stem the flow of blood that was now soaking into his t-shirt.
Jayden woke up a few hours later, to the rhythmic beeping of a ventilator, he rubbed his eyes slowly feeling a cannula in his hand he winced slightly as he felt a sharp pain splitting his head open as he looked around, he was alone in the small hospital room he picked up a small plastic cup that was filled with water and sipped lightly at it, refreshing his dry lips. He heard the door opening and looked towards it seeing Mia enter the room, she saw he was awake and rushed over to him and hugged him tightly saying softly “Man you’ve been out for ages, I thought you were never gonna wake up….are you alright?” Jayden looked at her replying softly “Yeah I think so, sorry if I freaked you out Mia” Mia stroked Jayden’s arm and kissed his forehead softly.
Jayden smiled at her as he leant his head back onto the pillow looking up at the sterile white ceiling, Mia said something to him which he didn’t catch as she turned and headed out of the room, Jayden moved himself up on his pillow as he sighed softly, he felt the air in the room becoming colder as he looked around warily knowing that something was about to happen, he looked around at the heart machine, it has stopped in mid beep, he sighed softly as he swung his legs out of the bed and felt the cold floor underneath his feet he wiggled his toes and took some experimental steps.
He left the hospital room and saw nurses and doctors frozen in mid sprint, he looked into a room and saw a patient being held down as a syringe was about to be plunged into them, he shook his head as he saw what he thought was a man standing in front of him, he had the head of a jackal, he looked at Jayden as though he was something to eat, he was wearing a richly decorated Egyptian skirt, with a golden necklace he spoke in Egyptian to Jayden who just said “What? I really am sorry but this is just to much weirdness even for me” he held up his hands and backed up from the Jackal-headed guy.
Anubis left out a soft barking laugh as he held a staff out in front of him and slammed it onto the ground making a crater around Jayden so he couldn’t back up anymore as he said in a form of stilted English “You will be warned boy, this place is no longer safe for you, forces are moving against you, you have been awakened as if from a deep sleep, and soon you will fulfil a destiny that was written before you were even born” Jayden put a hand across his face and rubbed at the corners of his eyes.
Jayden looked up at Anubis and said “So…your expecting me to believe that I’m some kind of….Prophet” Anubis snorted replying “No, your not a prophet, but you will soon become a leader that will bridge gaps between the advancing forces of darkness” Jayden let out a little laugh as he then found his vision swimming he felt as though he was swirling around in a tornado as he screamed, he shot upright and found himself back in his hospital bed, he was covered in sweat breathing heavily.
Jayden looked around the room thinking maybe he should get himself checked into a psychiatric ward, surely these visions, or whatever they were, weren’t normal to have, he realised this must have been what happened to his mother, before she got put on drugs to keep her sedated. He saw the window open a crack and walked towards it seeing that it was a short jump to the ground, he grabbed his clothes seeing the blood coating his shirt, he sighed softly pulling his clothes on.
He opened up the window and looked around him and then back towards the window realising this was the start of something new as he leapt out of it and landed on the soft grass which muffled the sounds of his footsteps as he ran from the hospital. As Mia entered Jayden’s hospital room she found him no longer there, she looked around and then ran down the corridor to tell the doctor that her friend had disappeared.
Jayden looked around, his head felt heavy as he shook his head looking around trying to figure out what to do next, he knelt on the ground running a hand through his hair he felt a whisper in his mind, as slowly a figure of a young woman formed in front of him, he looked up at her as his eyes wandered over her body before coming to rest on her cat-like face, her golden amber eyes locked onto him as she said in a purring voice “My name…..is Bast….I have been instructed to be your guide” Jayden chuckled softly as he rubbed at the corners of his eyes before replying mostly to himself “I must be going nuts….I should be taken to a psychiatric hospital” Bast let out a soft laugh as she rested a hand on Jayden’s shoulder replying “I promise you Jayden….you are quite sane” Jayden took her hand and looked at her.
Bast changed into a more human form, she seemed to blaze brightly as when Jayden looked at her she was now in the form of a smartly dressed woman, her golden coloured hair falling down her back, her eyes deep slits with dark amber pupils, she seemed to be dressed in a business suit, which formed close to her body showing off every one of her curves, her skin seemed to be a honey coloured tone and when she smiled you could still see her wickedly sharp fangs.
She turned to Jayden and smiled at him as she said “Well…..how do I look?” Jayden just stood there with his mouth open before shaking his head replying “Aye….you look great Bast…so…where are we heading then?” Bast chuckled as she walked over to a sleek red corvette and unlocked it sliding into the drivers seat hotwiring the engine as it roared into life and motioned for Jayden to get in.
As Jayden slid into the passenger seat, Bast floored the accelerator and sped out of the car park heading out of Las Vegas, Jayden sighed leaning back the seat as he said “Why are we leaving Las Vegas?” Bast let out an irritable sigh replying “Did no-one mention to you the danger you were in, there are dangerous things watching you, they want to devour your soul and send your mind screaming down to the underworld” Jayden snorted softly replying “I think my mind’s already gone” Bast laughed softly weaving through the traffic.
As they left Las Vegas, a black cloud appeared watching them leave, a tall man growled as he stepped from the cloud with an annoyed look on his face, he needed to find a vessel he could use to induce Chaos….and get Jayden away from that wretched cat Bast. Set’s eyes blazed furiously as one of his minions appeared beside him bowing low as it hissed “Sire, we think they are heading for California” Set let out a slow breath as he replied in a bored tone “Ahhh California, I should have known…Bast always did like that area…..well what are you waiting for….SCAT….I want hourly updates on their journey” the creature bowed low it’s tongue flicking out tasting the air as it disappeared.
Jayden looked out of the window as Bast turned on the car radio, country music blaring out as she said softly “Why don’t you get some sleep? We have a while to go yet, I’ll wake you when we get nearer” Jayden nodded as he closed his eyes slipping into a deep sleep.
As Jayden drifted into sleep, Bast looked at him and stroked a strand of hair out of his face as she sighed softly knowing that many enemies would be coming for Jayden, and also knowing something of his heritage as well as his past. She saw the sun rising just over the horizon she knew that somewhere high above Ra was sitting on his throne, or else travelling in his boat. She sighed as her cell phone rang, she checked the caller ID answering it “Yes Horus, what can I do for you?” Horus chuckled as he replied in his serene voice “Oh my darling Bast you make it sound like a trial to talk to me” Bast snorted replying “Maybe that’s because it is Horus….so….again I must ask….what do you want?” Horus cursed in ancient Egyptian as he replied “Oh fine….You need to head to Huntington Beach in California, there will be an apartment and clean clothes for Jayden, as well as food for the both of you there, I’ve heard whispers that Set is looking for the boy and you know how important he is” Bast sighed “I know he’s important…..fine I’ll take him there, text me the address” Horus let out an affirmative as he hung up the phone.
Horus turned towards his mother and bowed to her as he said “I have done as you ask mother, Bast will make sure that the boy is safe, and maybe he can bring back Father” Isis nodded her head as she replied in a soft lilting voice which seemed to have a hint of darkness in it “You had better hope you are right my son…..otherwise you will know the price of failure” Horus crossed a clenched fist over his heart and bowed to her as he left the room leaving Isis to her thoughts.
In Jayden’s dream, he was travelling through an underground cavern, he looked around running his hands over the antique oak of the boat, he turned around as he saw a figure of an old wizened man who crooked at eyebrow at him saying in an odd language “What are you doing here, this place is not for Mortals to enter, you have entered the Duat, the place where only Gods may enter” Jayden held up his hands as the old man began to glow brightly, his features becoming younger as the old man’s eyes began to glow into a deep orange, he was almost to painful to look at as Jayden scrambled to get away, he felt himself screaming as he suddenly awoke shooting up in his seat looking around sweat dripping from his forehead as Bast looked at him with concern.
Jayden ran a hand down his face as Bast said “Are you alright Jayden?” he nodded his head before replying “Yeah….I think so….I had the weirdest dream, I was on an old oak boat and I was travelling through…..what did the old guy call it? The Duat….and all of a sudden he changed….I don’t know what the hell was happening and then next thing I know I wake up here” Bast’s eyebrows seemed to knit together in concern as she whispered almost to herself “He shouldn’t be awake so early….it seems that things are shifting sooner then expected” Jayden looked at her as though she was slightly weird as he settled back into the comfortable leather seat.
