Showing off Daisys Hearing Aids to the world :)
hugging her phonak mascot lion with detatchable hearing aids :)
smiling at hearing her aunties voice for the first time in her 2months of life. xx
So we asked more questions since we were less shocked. Basically its like this. She is severe deaf, borderline profound which is the worse type of deafness. We hear at around 0-20db, They tested Daisy up to 80db as that is the highest they can do for her age at the moment. There was no response for 80db, but when they placed something on her bone behind her ear, there was a tiny response at around 50db, so she has glue ear ontop of deafness, so hopefully when the glue goes, she will be able to pick up sounds from a minimum of 50db, so with hearing aids she will be able to reach a moderate level of hearing. They are letting her pick up sounds now as theyre tuned to around 100db, so basically VERY loud. But seeing her gummy smile once they were in and she could hear my voice, was the most emotional experience of my whole life, ill never forget that moment. We have to go back every 2 weeks for new molds due to her being so small and her growth rate. Life is absolutely amazing right now. We have a long way ahead of us, but the first stepping stone is awesome!! Me and Luke have never been happier, i love that man more than life, hes kept me strong through everything, hes my other half, my world, my life, my hubby to be and my best friend, and the best daddy in the entire universe.

Daisy is due to have her hearing aids fitted thursday, Im excited, nervous, scared, anxious. I have no idea what to expect. They have said they probably wont do a lot, but they have to try them, but how can a 7week old say "yep i hear that" i know she will obviously react to sounds if she hears them etc, but have no idea what to expect.
It kinda feels like we have just been abandoned.. "your daughter is severely deaf... bye" kinda thing, its been 2 weeks, we have had a lady come from the sensory inclusion department, to discuss playgroups etc where they can take her into the sensory room with lights etc. But that's it, we have her appointment thurs for her hearing aids so we are going to just try to ask as much as we can, we have to wait for an appointment for birmingham childrens hospital to discuss the implant, we are hoping its as soon as possible, with her being so young the earlier the better, as she wont remember any of this silence.
She is such a happy little girl, all she does is smile. She brightens up our days.

Unfortnatly, Our beautful 6week old little girl is Deaf, she had previously failed 3 tests, yesterday she had a aabr test again but more in depth, on the highest frequency there was zero response in both ears, she is severely deaf. We are heartbroken for her, shes never heard our voices, but at the same time we are happy and blessed with a beautiful perfect little girl who is always smiling. She may not of heard us say we love her but she knows. We have alot more tests to go through, to find out a cause. Shes been measured for tiny hearing aids as they have to try them before they can refer her for cochlea implants which will change her life and give her most her hearing back. Until then though, she will always be our beautiful, perfect, amazing little girl.
