Do not despair of fading dreams
Do not cling to grains of sand
So fleet are the visions that travel through the mind's eye
And so quickly do the sands slip away from one's grasp
Darkness settles again upon the lands of good and evil
Light and dark raise eyes to the sky
Wait in suspense for the coming of the dawn
For if it arrives we have lived to fight anew
Hold to me fast, for the angel of fate comes
Swiftly on the winds of the night
And we know not who he will take away
Slipping away with the rustling leaves on the darkened winds
And if the sun should endeavor to rise again into the sky
We will take to the lands and continue our unworthy struggle
Scratching away at the dying earth
Until the night our turn comes to slip away silently as if never born

Darkness is the tainted life force
Rotten at the earth’s dark core
Where life stems and burgeons
The darkness lurks and lies in wait
It is born into the souls of a few
Those who are cursed with a life of doom
They know not what drives the darkest passions
Compelled onwards to greatness, yes greatness.
The princes of the modern land
Spread fear and hate among the nations
They cater towards a madness
Borne of time immemorable
Immeasureable is their evil
For the ends always justify the means
Cruelty, annihilation,extinction
All in the name of their mother
For with the world of light
Was born the earth mothers sister
Mother of all that is dark, mother of all who destroy
Spurgeon of destruction, harbinger dark of the ends of the world
Carrying onwards towards night come her children
Fighting the world of blind light
Bringing their brand of justice
Towards the fading of the right
This her legacy, these her children
These her kin, this her inheritance
Darkness within and darkness without
To fight against the blind god of anti-choice
Anarchist is their name
Evil is their pseudonym
The world sees them as devils
Not as the angels of their salvation
In the end of all time, when paradise is opened
A world of greater hell will emerge , claiming to be the heaven
For the ones unjustly calling themselves righteous
Have opened the door to what they thought to be truth
Woe to the world, for the light has prevailed
And the darkness of knowledge and mystery fades
It goes into the night again, unchosen
In the favor of blindness, and unenlightened hope

a work in progress... a vision, a sight.
When the war of the beasts brings about the world’s end
The goddess descends from the sky
Wings of light and dark spread afar
She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting
Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess
We seek it thus, and take it to the sky
Ripples form on the water’s surface
The wandering soul knows no rest.
There is no hate, only joy
For you are beloved by the goddess
Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds
Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul
Pride is lost
Wings stripped away, the end is nigh
My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow
My friend, your desire
Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess
Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return
My friend, the fates are cruel
There are no dreams, no honor remains
The arrow has left the bow of the goddess
My soul, corrupted by vengeance
Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey
In my own salvation
And your eternal slumber
Legend shall speak
Of sacrifice at world’s end
The wind sails over the water’s surface
Quietly, but surely
Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return
To become the dew that quenches the land
To spare the sands, the seas, the skies
I offer thee this silent sacrifice
*From Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core "Loveless"
Hunger of the beast, writhing in my being
Snakelike coils choke my breath
The pounding of a drum resounds hollowly in my ears
Water like sand to my mouth, I thirst for more
That which lies within, forsaken of the gods
Arising with the darkness, clawing and clamoring for control
An irrepressible need rises with the beast
Call of immortality, walk the dark side of night
Huntress on the path of the hunted, sweet flesh and pounding blood
I stalk my lover for that which he gives
He tames the beast with his life
Urgently we move in time
Another pounding matches that in my ears
The transfer of energy begins
A slow ebb and flow spins on wisps of red and blue
Rising to my dying self, restoring it to youth
Give me your life, my love
Let me drink deeply of your soul
Drain yourself of your essence
And surrender to me, your goddess of night

There is no light without love
Dream-shattered one, whence wilt thou go
The streets are empty anon, and dark
Thy lover hath turned thee away for another
Mud-stained and blood-stained, thy heart torn free
Trampled carelessly on the track of thorns
Glass dashed upon rocks, thy dreams no more
Scorned and disdained be thy name
An angel with broken wings
Cries tears of blood when no water can be shed
The forsaken rise to fight again
Heartless creatures that lust for destruction
Vengeance stricken and poisoned lips
Deliver thy final deathly kiss
To bestow a last wish upon the Devil
That he may lie dead with his new rose bride
My mind burns in dark liquid fire
Dreams, so solid, like reality transpire
Fly on the wings of the eagle above
For the gate lies surely just beyond the last cove
Keyholes have no doors and windows with no glass
Lead onwards to skies so bright everlast
Flowers grow on rock and stone
Forests of green carpets and ceilings like domes
Beasts all speak the language of men
And tell dark secrets in the light of their dens
Whisper to me then and speak to me life
Of angels and demons, of peace and their strife.
From darkness til morning guide me on through
Panther, goddess, and god so true
When morning’s light doth shine in my eyes
I will weep softly and go live the lies

I searched for my soul upon bitter plains
Cracked rocks, dry land, dead heat
Scarce life traveled with me in my search
All things to see, my soul deserted
In deep forests I traveled seeking my soul
Lush green, underbrush, green canopy sky
Life in abundance hunted with me
All things to see, my soul on the hunt
Depths of ocean I swam to shed light upon my soul
Blackened bottoms, hidden volcanoes, darkness abounds
Creatures of dark shed their light for me
All things to see, my soul a sunken ship
Clear blue sky I flew above the world for my soul
White pillow clouds, clear blue sky above, god of the sun
Birds of prey winged upon the aerials, guiding me ever onwards
All things to see, my soul flew upon the winds
Across the cosmos I searched for my soul
Distant planets, nebulas, black holes
Only stars to see from endless galaxy to endless galaxy
All things to see, my soul at world’s end

Tomorrow dawns the war of the beasts
Flying to battle upon black wing of fury
Sword drawn, a flashing red blood burns bright
Star of the dark one comes swiftly to the frontline
Challenge met upon fields of blood
Swords clash and resound across the hills
War cries of the dead and dying
Screams of the defiant triumphant ones
Swiftly ever on flies the red star
Higher now into the heavens, face a mask of fury
Unbridled battle born one, prepare for the fight
And all shall fear your presence
Head held high, sword gleaming bright as the sun
The red star flashes, slashes through ranks of fallen
As an axe falls upon a forest in practiced hands
So too does the battlefield lay in swathes of the dead
Come what will, the dark angel is furious
Hungry as a lone wolf upon its prey
Seeking glory and renown of the villain-hero
Fight harder, slashing, burning to ends unknown
Out of the brightened sky comes the war goddess
She has seen her commander in arms
Blinding all with her light, wings rushing
Come to the side of her chosen
The battle is ended as quickly as started
The dark angel turns to his goddess for her blessing
This is his reconciliation, the touch of the goddess’ kiss
This is his final wish
Softly with gentle wings she reaches to the angel
His blood-stained wings of raven folded tight
Dare he to look fully upon her, his salvation
Her touch brushes his cheek like blazing fire to mortal touch
In her gentle light, the angel rises
His blessing complete and spreads his wings once more
Once blood-soaked, now cleaned and iridescent black
His face a fire red mask of emotion
His goddess grants him the wholeness he seeks
At last he has received his salvation
For the goddess blessing is upon him once more
Battle-bred one rises to glory

Tomorrow is the fight. Goddess grant me your fire and will to gain a winning edge over all.
Golden halos sear the edges of sight.
A half phantom with deadening gaze stares to the west.
Sinking slowly, savoring the fading light.
This, dark one, shall be the last I ever see of angels.
Fire sets in the skies, deepening to embers of red.
A single tear is shed at her beauty.
A moment, forever locked in the passage of time.
Photograph of a vanishing life.
Memory of a life once lived, sinking beneath the surface of the Earth.
Like a ghost ship slipping beneath the waves of the sea.
Farewell, golden sunlight, for no more shall my eyes gaze upon your face.
No more will be the memories of food=laden banquets.
Vanished are the fields of gold, lit by the radiance of you.
Remembrance of a love now lost forever to mortal time.
Hold fast then to the dying of the light of this good day.
Locked in a gaze of unmasked longing.
This is for the memory, that so fast disappears unless otherwise marked.
I hold this fading light in my mind, the eternal reminder of awakening.
Taste of golden sweet honey is the sight I behold.
And the smell of lavender fields on a summery day no more.
Gold halos sink beneath the Earth, leaving a ruddy red ember.
Red as blood, red as the rings of my new sighted eyes.
A memory of strawberries flashes across my tongue.
A taste that is as sweet as this moment.
Bloody kisses on the night of endless passion past.
The feel of warmth and skin upon skin.
Soft velveteen sheets and heavy down covers.
A cold breeze dances in the approaching darkness.
Life ebbs like blood from a mortal wound into afterlife.
As red turns to purple, to deepest black, my Awakening completes.

It is your day of reckoning, my angel.
This is the day the gods call your name.
We stand upon the precipice of greatness, you and I.
You the one who stole my soul for your gain.
I the dark creature of your creation.
My blackened wings appear like a raven’s only infinitely darker.
The raven’s cruel voice grates as my own.
Your fate is decided, your soul in my very hands.
And now you inquire of me whence came this darkened hatred?
Where did I learn to loathe our god, our ruler?
How did I learn such darkness and when did I anathema turn?
Your questions all answered in the blind stars of fate.
The tale of the Raven now is told.
Upon the doorway, the threshold of your foul lair.
Nevermore, as the word is spoken softly.
Upon the winds of a wingbeat dark in the night.
I have lived in darkness, hatred, and anger.
Soul-rending agony, my freedom was paid for in full.
A thousand wars in a day, a thousand days in a war.
Darkness everlasting, darkness incarnate.
Let there be no more light, for you have stolen it from my mantle evermore.
My friend, you have taken the light of the god in the name of vain glory.
Befouled the name of the sacred for your sake.
And torn the wings of angels with your mighty word, and called this judgement upon your head.
Do you understand Hell, my angel?
If you understood, surely you would not have sent me there.
The darkness tears the soul asunder.
Gentle, loving heart ripped flesh from flesh til naught remains.
A hardened shell, blackened in the fires of the dark one.
Bent on vengeance, driven to bloodlust for hate of the light.
And now we are here, my angel of light.
Your heart and fate in the hands of the devil you created.
Speak your last, pray in vain to the god.
The power of the dark one has taken me.
And even the light prince has given you to me.
Answer now, and bow before the raven of nevermore.
There will be no tomorrows for you, no sunrise upon water.
No rippling of the lake’s surface for no tears will be shed for you.
I come with a sword forged in demon’s fire of hell.
Your life, at an end, at the hands of the darkness you so fear.

The sun is bright today, my love.
Sky is blue as the blue of your eyes.
The desert heat burns against my face.
It is a reflection of another fire that burns me.
The sky is blue like the skies of home, my love.
Are you waiting there for me?
Are you outside today too, and do you look up now as I do?
Does the sky of home remind you of the blue of my eyes?
The sun has grown colder against my face, my skin.
And the sound of the mortar shells has grown a nearby distance.
Close and far away I hear the voice that says, “stay with me”.
And yet I care not to linger idly long.
For the blue sky above is calling it seems.
The pale shade of your eyes is like a distant welcome home.
I smile at the memory of your happy face.
And the blue of your eyes looking down on that special day.
Is the sky as blue above you today?
And kissed by the golden sun?
I have lingered too long here, my love.
So far from you, a sadness.
I will not last this closing of my eyes.
For what lies afterward is the dark of a night sky.
I fear, my love, that the skies are yours alone.
For I have been called away, far from home, far from you.
Promises cannot be kept, not the one we swore.
And under a foreign blue sky I breathe my last.
And with last breath, I speak of you.
Your name so soft like a cloud.

Close the shades and dim the lights, my love.
That none will witness the tears of the dove.
She has earned her freedom at last.
But at what price? We all must ask.
She cries in her darkness now, her blood-bright pain.
For the cage door has opened and made her insane.
They crushed her back, and tore off her white wings.
And her eyes have been put out, and her voice no more sings.
We witness her deformation, her dark and cruel fate.
And in horror we stare at her sad, lowered state.

This is but a beginning to this poem. It is more of a rough outline or a draft, if you will. Again, my weakest points have to be when it comes down to rhyming in poetry. It is harder than one would think.
