I want my own mode of transportation so bad, I can taste it.



The desire to just be able to hop on my own set of wheels to go to work, not have to fight the steering wheel, not feel the sputtering motor fight to accelerate.



Basically, not have to use someone else's vehicle, smell the funk of their ashtray or the build up of hand dirt on the steering wheel.

Not common knowledge, but I have been without transportation of my own for over three years now. I've been having to beg or borrow rides from people, and it is starting to get very old, especially the part about having to plan days or even weeks ahead if I want to go out and socialise, or even make it to a doctor's appointment.



Let's not even get into the part about having planned far in advance, and someone STILL manages to screw me out of having a ride...



I've been trying for a couple of those years to save up for a car, but whenever I get a few dollars under my belt, I usually end up having to sink it into maintenance or repairs to someone else's vehicle. (Once, I DID get to sink my car money into a bill of my own--once)



I've given up on the pipe dream of getting my hands on my dream car.



Instead, I've been keeping an eye on a used, privately sold 150cc scooter, something that I can use to get to and from work, make my appointments, and maybe go out with friends here and there, all without outside assistance.



One problem: I can't even afford the purchase without outside assistance. (Somehow, putting away for bills is almost always easier than saving for a big purchase, so I'm not too worried about being able to afford the insurance)



So now I have a personal fund running on Indiegogo's Life page.



At this point, there is only one week left until the deadline. I already have a couple donations in, and of 45 friends and family on my Facebook, only 3 people could even be bothered to click the share button. (Thanks for helping me out, people: seriously for the three who helped, and sarcastically for the 42 who couldn't take two seconds out from posting pictures of their cats and/or meals to share my link)



That's why I'm writing this: in the hopes that my VR people, stalkers, and possible fans, would be willing to help me out, either by donating a few pennies or pounds, or by sharing the link on your Facebook, Twitter, and wherever else you network.

The purchase price has went down to $400 (from $700) because holding out for a higher price has been costing the seller in storage fees. Granted, I set a goal of $500, but the extra is only to help pay for fuel for whichever truck owner I can talk into taking me to pick the scooter up, and a little bit left over to help me get it licensed.



Then, I can once again enjoy the ability to go out if I want to, WHEN I want to, without having to ask someone's permission. (You know, the whole point of moving out of mommy and daddy's house more than eight years ago?)
