More to come.
Experience is real. Names are not

He grimaced in pain as he looked up at me, vulnerable, dazed, and confused.
"I know, I know Mr. Smith. It hurts, but I have to re-position you so you heal faster and the pain goes away."
He understood. Closed his eyes shut, and held on the bed rails.
"Ok, on the count of 3 I am going to pull the chuck and turn you. It will be over sooner than you know" I said, grabbing the chuck, positioning myself and carrying all the weight with my legs, against the bed.
"Ok, here we go. 1...2...3!" With a quick pull Mr Smith was turned on his side. I pushed his back forward while holding him with one arm and placing a pillow on his sacrum to make him more comfortable.
"There, see. Not too bad" I said giving him a smile. I put my hand and arm under his back and pulled him up, placing another pillow on his cervical to hold his head up better so he didn't have to hyperextend his neck, which could lead to contractures.
I went around and checked his IV line on his forearm to make sure it wasn't reddened, put another pillow under that arm to help with the circulation and hopefully lower the edema. "See?!How are you feeling now?"
He smiled, visibly frail and debilitated. Grabbed my hand and held it while nodding his head in relief.
"Ok, Mr .Smith. Good. I will be back to check on you in a little bit. Don't go wild while I'm gone!" I gently put his hand back on the pillow and walked towards the sink, took off my golves and stared at his figure in the mirror while washing my hands.
He closed his eyes and dozed off. I dimmed the lights, and left the door ajar, my heart breaking as a I walked away...wishing I could do more.
