23 years ago my parents gave birth to me on Jan 1, (Yelp New Years Baby but not the first one) they've encouraged and stood by me every day of those 23 years. I am very thankful to them. There were a few years I had lost my path. I joined a gang. I ran the streets. I did every drug out there. Then an Elder got a hold of me and helped me find the path again. Last weekend I think I helped another find the right path again.



These "gangsters" claim to be fearless, I feel like they are the ones who have the most fear out of us all, fear to be themselves, fear of not belonging, fear of being seen in a different light.... Last weekend I was talking with this young guy that was my age. The things he was talking about was like drugs, gangs and other negative stuff that in his eyes seemed "bad ass" or "cool". I got a glimpse of the old me when I was talking to him and it hit me like a ton of bricks when I realized how far I had come and grown from being in that state of mind of being "lost" if you will. For every negative thing he said I had a positive response so I said it.



I was worried he would take my honesty for disrespect but he didn't he just listened and he said "how do you do that?" I asked him "do what?" he said "you have such a good way of thinking and staying positive" so I told him, I wasn't always this way I used to be like you but I had to teach myself and learn how to turn intimidation into kindness, hate into love, ignorance into respect. I did a drastic change to myself for the better and I told him that he can too. He said he was stuck like that, I didn't believe him because I know there's a choice in who you want to be. I am living proof.

I always want to know what those people do for real money. Because I can only imagine they are either living in their cars, or they have inherited millions from a family who is tired of talking to them and paid them to go away.
