I am rebuilding my sim in Second Life and I always attempt to do builds from real pictures. I came across this blog and I am using some of the pictures for my sim. As I looked over all the pictures it made me sad. I get angry too. We all were a nation of peaceful bands. Family was important to us. That is how we were talked out of lands so easy, just a peaceful, trusting, loving nation. We were not prepared for the lies we would be told. Everyone in the villages contributed to its survival. The picture #54 really got to me of The chief--Klamath. I wonder what he was thinking. What he was feeling. The date on it is early 1900's. By then the genocide was almost over. I am sure he was feeling a deep sadness.

I agree Dakotah , I have chills run down my arms and back into my legs and tears swell up in my eyes . I know we as Native's are no better than the next person but seriously people need to know how devastating it has been throughout history what our people have been through. And when they view photos they should feel the sadness . I must add

Edward Curtis is a pure genius , he is an amazing photographer .

A couple of years ago I visited the rez from where I came from, I was very very young when we left so I really didn't know what it truly was about . I went to the " Wounded Knee Monument " for those who does not know its A small monument to the natives killed in the Wounded Knee massacre. I felt such a sadness in the wind like I have never felt in my life .

I visited a reservation once when I was little and I could just feel how still it was and how sad the people still are. I feel a deep passion and respect in my hearts for Natives and what they have been through, ever since that trip.

The song by Paul Revere & The Raiders , Indian Reservation if you listen to that while looking at those old pictures gives a new meaning to the lyrics. I think back to what happen and we are still here. That just speaks in how strong we really are. More and more people are searching out for there roots, what nation they are from and becoming more involved. Growing stronger. Embracing our culture. I believe there will be a return and it will be stronger for what the past has taught us due too what we had to endure, what we lost. Our Grandfathers were overwhelmed with what they had to deal with back then. It all happen within a short time too. We will return. We will be stronger
